Susan Ewart Posted Friday at 07:35 PM Posted Friday at 07:35 PM I too had PSP randomly shut down. Making the Christmas designs this would happen. I always thought it was me clicking too many times and too fast and it couldnt keep up, despite having 64 GB of ram and a graphics card with 12GB of ram and a fast CPU ( i7 11700K - whatever that means). I have also learned to save often. It shut down and I was able to use the one I found in the Auto-Preserve folder and go from there. After that happened I saved after every step I did. Also do any of you have the tmp files saving ALL the time. Sometimes I go to click or use a tool and I cant and then realize at the bottom, it's saving temp files, like 2-3 of them. Is there a setting to turn that off? 1 1

Cassel Posted Friday at 07:38 PM Author Posted Friday at 07:38 PM I remember that 2023 WAS very stable until the last update. I had even mentioned it to Joseph and wanted to send the crashdump so they could investigate but that is when I found out that crashdump is only generated during the beta cycle, and not once it is officially released, so that didn't help. 1 1

That's too bad it's not something that stays embedded and when you have a problem they could give you instructions to send it. That turns everyone into real world testers that could have made the program that much more robust. If I was to point fingers, I'd say that once acquired by Alludo, the plans for the company didn't include going forward with a graphics program. This happened in a company I was in, in the end just under 270 stores were closed. 3

PSP has become a versatile program over time. With many possibilities that are completely different. Text is a separate part of your program. (There are a lot of text editors out there. Some with a calculation function.) I have Open Office Writer, a free program. If you switch from one part to the other, the '23 sometimes goes down. With text I solved it like this: I write my text in my out site source text editor, and copy it and then only place it in my frame, if I have one, and otherwise loose on the field. This way you have less chance of problems. So glue and stick. This way you will not type in the program. I hope to have helped you with this. Sorry to say this didn't work for me. For one, all text came in as one long line and while trying to fix that, it would crash. Every single time. 1 1

Corrie Kinkel Posted Friday at 09:59 PM Posted Friday at 09:59 PM 7 hours ago, Rene Marker said: @gwen jewitt 2023 also shuts down when doing text for me. Only difference is it does it even if I'm not using text wrapping. Probably 90% of the time is if I'm writing large amounts of text (say more than 4 lines) but it has also done it with just a few words. I also at one point thought it might be the font and tried a standard font and it still did it. So when I know I'm going to have a lot of journaling, I do it in X8 where I don't have a problem. I also have the problem of the program just shutting down on me even when I'm not using the text tool. I have learned to save often because the auto-save time is often not long enough where I have lost work. 2021 did both of these things for me on my old computer so I was hopeful that when I got this computer and did a new install, it would fix the issues. Sadly, it didn't. Both 2021 and 2023 still have the same problems. I've never had an issue with X8. I probably should just use it all the time since I don't use a lot of the new features of 2023. I think I'm lucky because my PSP2023 let me type normally my text as long as I don't use the textwrapping and very seldom it shuts down unexpected. When it does, it is due to doing too much too quickly, at least that is what I think it is doing. 1

My husband can no longer be cured, the doctors told me this afternoon. They can no longer expect any improvement because my husband has a lot of swallowing problems and can no longer eat and drink properly without choking badly and therefore cannot get stronger. He still gets some medium thick food such as a small bowl of semolina porridge. He had a stomach flu 2 weeks ago and has weakened too much because of it. Prayers for you and your husband.🙏 2

I chose the laughing icon only because your last sentence was funny. Who knows what happens when you aren't around. I wonder if the endless MS updates are messing with stuff too. Now my email program spams all the campus emails and I have to go to webmail to get them to send through. Well, it's spamming at the webmail program, but never did this and all of a sudden (2 months ago) it started doing that after a windows update. I have marked the send (and the doman) in the settings as safe and not to mark as spam and still it goes to spam. I don't relish hours waiting on the phone waiting to find out how to get it fixed. 1

I've had the latest big MS update sitting on my task bar for about 3 weeks. I was unsure about installing it. I have another issue I need looked into but he had his son with him so couldn't stay long. He said to start a list and after the first of the year, he'll come back and see what we can do about the small issues. I decided to hold off on the windows update (24H2) install until then after I read somewhere that people had an issue with it and PSP. 1
