I was working on this for the Word Art Challenge but just finished it today.   I got this quote off of a calendar page years ago and have always liked it.  I have the original page taped to the side of my P C tower where I know I will see it everyday.

When the cows have  calved in early Spring and  the calves are strong enough to travel, they are trailed lots of miles by cowboys (like you see in  western films.  Saskatchewan ranchers are still very western in their ways) over vast areas of open native grasslands to their summer pastures.  At that time of year,  mid-late spring, the air is filled with the  aroma of the Prairie Sage.  I could smell it as I was creating this page.   I used the frame I created and  posted for download on facebook.  The background paper is the photo,  blurred and lowered the opacity.  Negative effect label.

Anne, love the word art. I haven't worked up the courage to try yet...

Sue, love the frame and the layout...and they white tail deer...they are a favorite of mine.

I must have sat for 20 minutes watching this bird. I love hawks, even if they hunt other birds/songbirds. I couldn't get close and these photos are the best I could get with my point and shoot camera with telephoto.

Cicadas are singing louder each day. I really enjoy the sound. These are the 17 year variety...they emerge every 17 years. We don't seem to have as many as we did 17 years ago. For some reason they are called Brood X. The large X was a place holder for the template but it served a better purpose for this layout. I downloaded a picture of a cicada...my photos don't show the true colors. I took all of the colors for the layout from the cicada...except the green from the grass. The photo on the lower left is not mine.

I was checking out Creative Fabrica's sight today and found this wallpaper   (and others) and the world flat map in today's Daily Gifts.  I liked them so much I though I would create something so I could share this info today. I know the world thing would show up better on a more solid background, but I liked the looks of this.

I too have looked at the Splatter Portret Tutorial that Lynda mentioned earlier and this is the result. The title is in Dutch because I don't know an english word for it. It is a stone jar that was previously used for preserving foods/veggies. I have this old one that comes through the family for a very long time and have used it for different purposes. It has been an umbrella stand, pot for big house plants and now serves on my patio where we just planted some bedding plants in it.

Hi all. I will probably not be on much for a while as my son's wife died recently unexpectedly. I have been in SC the last two weeks and on the phone with him every day since getting back. I will try to pop in and look at all the wonderful layouts you all have done.

Anne: Now you have a beautiful copy of your quote to hang up somewhere special. Nice job on the places you would like to see.

Sue: Loving the White Tail Deer layout.

Bonnie: Wonderful pictures of the red shouldered hawk. Down by the riverside is fantastic, the addition of the music notes is great. Interesting information about the cicadas and great pictures.

Anita: Awesome foliage frame to showcase your furbaby.

Lynda: Fantastic job on the lab lessons. Fabulous mushroom layout and really like how you used a photo of mushrooms as the background.

Corrie: Lovely layout of your stone jar. The soft pastel colors of the background really make the picture standout.

Sue, Bonnie, Anita, Lynda, and Corrie, thanks very much to all of you. This campus has become a world of knowledge and I am enjoying every bit of it. I am learning all about fauna, flora, history etcetera and all of you have contributed. Beautiful photography by Lynda and Sue. Lynda, the info you provided on mushrooms was fascinating and I love the quote. Your result for L11M6 is delightful ... I was playing around with it yesterday so will have to showcase my effort. I see you helped Corrie with regards to info on her handed down pot. This is what is so amazing about this campus, we are all here to learn about digital scrapbooking and the rest is a huge bonus. Bonnie I see that you are branching from your beloved pickelball ... I love the info you provided on the red shoulder hawk and the cicadas, thank you.

Karon, so very sorry to hear about the loss of your DIL. Sad to say but endurance is the only way to get through it all. You will be a rock for your son and I send love and best wishes your way ... and thank you for your delightful compliments, always appreciated Hon.
