The hat and nose are rectangles, the flowers are the stars, the top things are the spirals, mouth is a crescent and the rest circles. Oh wow! That's an idea! 🙂 6 1
Sue Thomas Posted May 28 Posted May 28 (edited) Day 3 A simple layout, where I traced around the flowers, using them as tags. Again I used all that I have already learnt. The background paper is an overlay using one of my photos. You will notice the white egret almost in the centre. I'm getting the hang of the Affinity vector tools. They are a joy to use. Lovely photos and like you I like the vector tools in Affinity, I find them very easy to use. In PSP I always have a lot of trouble with the nodes! 5 1

gwen jewitt Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Lesson 3 I used 3 different leaf shapes the first I followed the steps that Carole did in the video, the other to leaves I used the brush tool to draw veins on them and added an inner shadow { I think, sometimes I forget the steps I use if I haven't written it down} I also added a yellow border around the holly leaf. 9
Sharon Murray Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Day 2 - Here are the shapes I created, turned into assets. 9
Cindy Sheets Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Okay, starting the affinity version today. Really looking forward to learning how to do these things in Affinity since I need the suite for other reasons. 6
Linda Rexford Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Day 3, I outlined the maple leaf, saved as an asset and here it is. Also, I added a picture of a beautiful maple tree from fall a few years back. 9
Corrie Kinkel Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Day 3 I didn't use the leaves but choose some elements that go well with the photo I wanted to use, turned them to black and traced the contours. I really love the pentool and nodes in Affinity, they work so much easier then in PSP, at least for me. Just like the other days I made a layout using them, I didn't drew lines inside them, just kept them as shapes to write something on. The freebie challenge has this net and while it fits my theme I used a part of it as an embellishment. The background has 2 papers from Jessica Dunn with a blendmode. 2 8
Gerry Landreth Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Day 3. Overall, I found it easier to trace in Affinity. However, when I worked on a more intricate pattern, the process required the same amount of work. 10

Everyone has done a first class job on tracing. Love the way you lifted the turtle's flipper (forearm) above the netting. Edited May 29 by Sue Thomas 5 1

The shapes are wonderful, the netting fabulous, and your photograph is such a super one! It all fits together to make a stunning page. 5 1
Cristina Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Due to unplanned reasons, our trip has been postponed, so I’ll be able to participate in this workshop after all. Here is my Day 3. For the first one, I traced the Leaf#06. Since I had previously traced a few leaves for the PSP Vector Workshop, I decided to try something different and found a video on YouTube that used an illustration of a parrot. It took me some time to tackle it, and I will need a lot more practice, but we have to start somewhere. 🙂 Now, I’ll take a look at the previous post. 1 1 8
Cristina Posted May 29 Posted May 29 The workshop is just beginning, and I saw a lot of creativity and great pages. I enjoy seeing each entry! 6

Sorry that your trip has been postponed, but glad your are able to complete the workshop together with us! Great job on the parrot and I think it helps that we all have already used the pentool and the nodes in psp. 4 2

I am also happy to do it with everybody. 🙂 You are right, we have done this workshop so many times in PSP (which is harder) that it helps when working with Affinity. 3
MoniqueN. Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Lesson 3 I have to thank you "guys" for giving me the idea to brighten up the lessons with other objects or a scrapbooky 😉 lay out. I d/l an autumn background and the tree from CF and made it like a painting. The curved leave doesn't fit the tree, but hey, who cares, it's the practice that matters. After "curving I copied the leave several times, gave them other colours and added to the background. Fun lesson! And much easier than PSP 🙂 9
