Jacques Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) Here are my projects from days 2, 3 and 4 with "Affinity". Although the "Look" is very similar to those made with PSP, I admit that Affinity offers useful tools (Place, move a photo on a mask, etc.). It's a shame that Corel no longer makes modifications to PSP 😞 Edited May 3 by Jacques 10
Harmony Birch Posted May 3 Posted May 3 That is a great way to work around the limitation, but I thought you had to have purchased it to be allowed as a beta-tester??? true Do we know if there is a 90 day trial for designer at all. 3
Cassel Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 Do we know if there is a 90 day trial for designer at all. true The 90-day trial I can offer applies to the whole suite "at once" so yes, you could then download all the app for that trial. 3
Jacques Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) Do we know if there is a 90 day trial for designer at all. true With the beta version, I was able to download all three modules (for all environments) but I only installed Affinity Photo for Windows Edited May 3 by Jacques 3
Jeni Simpson Posted May 3 Posted May 3 With the beta version, I was able to download all three modules (for all environments) but I only installed Affinity Photo for Windows true Jacques, I would download the others as well, you may not use them, but you could have a play, at least. Some scrapbookers use Designer rather than Photo. I admit I am using Photo and have yet to try the others. I'm like Susan, not enough time in the day, I probably need 48/7 instead of 24/7, or, as Susan said, to live to 150! 3 1 1
Jeni Simpson Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) Template 3 extra Affinity Photo 2.6 and PSPx8 I tried and tried to work out how to export and maintain the aspect ratio, and couldn't find anything helpful, so I used PSP to resize. I found this ram in a paddock in Waipiata, he was wild and woolly, he had lived in the hills for years, so wouldn't have been shorn for a long time. The kit used is Winter Repose from Jessica Dunn. The font is Smith Family Script Bold from CreativeFabrica. Edited May 4 by Jeni Simpson Kit was Jessica Dunn, not Marisa Lerin. 8
AprilDawn Posted May 3 Posted May 3 hello everyone!... finally got to do lesson 3 after having to get new computer. Beige painterly stroked paper free from Rita at the Coffe Shop Blog, recoloured the original. Plaid pattern paper free from Chantahlia Design. Heart shape created in PSP from a shape preset and glow, 3D and shadow effect done in Affinity Photo. Font is the same as Carole used in the lesson. Now on to lesson 4.. i will get to finish eventually. best wishes to all, Dawn. 10

It might feel lonely, yet some of us are still here rooting for you. 5 1
Cristina Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Lovely work, Dawn. And you are not alone; I'm behind, too! As Jeni said, some of us are still here rooting for you! 🙂 4 1
Cristina Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Here is Day 6 - Affinity Finding a kit with the papers/colors I thought would fit the photos took me a long time. Of course, I could create my own paper with the colors and textures I wanted, but why do I get the kits I ike if I do not use them? 😄 So, for this page, I used papers and elements from Lynn Grieveson's Happy Place kit. Cassel's DateStamp#12 script, done in PSP. Font: Bungee Outline Now, for Day 7, I still have to look for photos I feel like scrapping and suitable for the template. 9

Cristina Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Olivia has such a beautiful smile, she is so photogenic. true Yes, Jeni, she has a lovely smile, but like every child, she sometimes makes funny faces for the photos. 😄 But those can also be used for the right layout! 5

Jacques Posted May 4 Posted May 4 @Cassel Question about Affinity: After opening a "template (psd file), do we get the same effect if we do a "File|Save As..." as the steps you take to get our copy? 3
Ann Seeber Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) @Cassel Question about Affinity: After opening a "template (psd file), do we get the same effect if we do a "File|Save As..." as the steps you take to get our copy? true Affinity works with .psd just like PSP works with .pspimage files. In other words; it displays all layers. The only hitch is that Affinity can't "see" .pspimage files whereas PSP can see both .psd and .pspimage. I do recall that there are some features of .psd files that PSP can't parse, so it ignores them. I've run into problems with bounded text since .psd can't see that. Edited May 4 by Ann Seeber 3 1
Cassel Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 @Cassel Question about Affinity: After opening a "template (psd file), do we get the same effect if we do a "File|Save As..." as the steps you take to get our copy? true If you use "save as...", it will only save in the native .afphoto format. If you want any other format (including .psd), you have to use the Export... command. 3 1
Sue Thomas Posted May 4 Posted May 4 If you use "save as...", it will only save in the native .afphoto format. If you want any other format (including .psd), you have to use the Export... command. true I couldn't save a file as a png in export. 4
Cassel Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 I couldn't save a file as a png in export. true What do you get? Do you just not have the option or do you get an error message? 4
Sue Thomas Posted May 4 Posted May 4 What do you get? Do you just not have the option or do you get an error message? true I don't get the option. 4
Sue Thomas Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I can open SVG files in affinity. After editing the layers, I wanted to save it as a png, in order for me to open it in psp. 4
Cassel Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 I don't get the option. true What do you have in the dropdown list? Here is mine: 5
Sue Thomas Posted May 4 Posted May 4 What do you have in the dropdown list? Here is mine: true I'm currently on a train, when I arrive at my daughter's I will check. I don't recall seeing such an extensive drop down list. 4
Jacques Posted May 4 Posted May 4 If you use "save as...", it will only save in the native .afphoto format. If you want any other format (including .psd), you have to use the Export... command. true the format "afphoto" is similar to ".pspimage" with layers and everything right? 3
