She also has a YouTube channel where she shows herself scrapping a layout. Some of the older tutorials were using Affinity 1. Expand I did the same, yesterday, Rene. Thanks for mentioning them. I love some of the kits she has used, too. Might have to snag some of them. I also subscribed to the YT channel. I think what Carole has done with this Bootcamp has whetted my appetite for this programme. I might even get used to using it. And I love PSP, too. 5
Margo Ahern Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Here is my Project 4. I'm still catching up, just Project 5 to finish. Somehow this seems easier than learning PSP which I am still not very good at using. 1 9

Expand I didn't; I used PSP. FWIW: a picture frame in PSP is just a raster file you can save as a .png if you want to use it elsewhere. Just slide the layer out of the original .pspimage layout and then save it as a .png. This frame is truly original in my PSP 2023 but I changed the color from blue to white. 3

I have browsed through them and I find them very easy to follow. This is a treasure trove! Expand I watched some of Angela Toucan's videos on YT. She goes very fast, and I find that model of "instructing" doesn't work well for me as a "newbie". 3

She shows a walk-through where you might pick up some tips/processes along the way, but she is not specifically catering to newbies. Once you get comfortable with the program, her videos will make more sense and feel even more useful. 5

Expand The good thing about her is that she is doing layouts rather than showing stuff that relates to working on photos. Her style of scrapbooking is not how I scrap but I can still learn from her videos. 4

I love how you put the title "two words inside another". Clever! Expand Not with a picture of Poncho. I start with a this prompt : Rough collie tricolor with happy expression and in male Victorian costume sitting as a person on a tree stump by a stream in a forest. I was looking for a title and came across this image by chance, I don't know the series, but I thought the title was fitting. So I created my title in the same way 5
Julie Magerka Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I had some time and decided to use AFF with an Anna Aspnes template (from her freebie collection) as Corrie had done. Just threw in some pix to determine how easy it would be - and it was! So I added a couple of other elements to try to balance the page a bit more. The text is not important; just typed in a few words to use that space. There were a few other things I wanted to do but couldn't figure out which tools to use (or how), so I let them go. 3 3

Expand Yes, some things are quite straight-forward (now that Carole has shown some basics), but the ability to "select subject" is a bug-a-boo for me. The folks at AFF have not figured that one out yet, the way PS has. 3

When I want to use that I have to go to 2022 and then back to 2023, that is such a nuisance. I don't have PS so I can't compare which is one of the reasons I wanted to give Affinity a try. Of course I shall continue to use PSP too but for now I'm going to explore AFF. 4
David Belton Posted January 28 Posted January 28 The current beta version of Affinity Photo has an "object selection" tool. It has worked well in my testing with it and seems similar to PS. It should be in the next release. 5
Carolyn Rye Posted February 18 Posted February 18 @Margo Ahern I love Corgi dogs. We had a beautiful little girl, and her name was Bubbles. We named her that because she looked like a little bubble when she was a puppy. She had her in our life for 17 wonderful years. Your dogs look beautiful. 3 1
