I wonder if Affinity has a spot-healing brush and I wonder how it works if it did have one.

Actually, PSP has the blemish remover in the Makeover Tool. I just tried it and though a bit tedious it is quite precise and just right for what looks like a load of multi-colored glitter that the cats rolled in.. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Here's the result.

I think Affinity only has the Healing Brush and not both.

However, it also has interesting brushes, such as the Patch Tool, Inpainting Brush,  Median Brush, etc.  I've been watching tutorials on these tools and slowly learning how to use them.

In addition to the different brushes, the tool options palette has settings that I still have to figure out what they are forโ€”one tutorial at a time. ๐Ÿ™‚

Guess who just bought PSE 2024 (stand Alone).  Yup, me.  First there was none to be had, then I was on Amazon again and there was licenses available only for Canada so I jumped on it.  I decided on PSE because I have previously downloaded PS styles not knowing what they were so that was deciding factor.  And I have some PS brushes that are too large to convert to using in PSP, even using ABR Mate.  Maybe PSE will open them. I remember how foreign PSP was and how much I struggled but kept going anyway.  I think everyone is doing fabulous.  The layouts you are making are beautiful.

Wow, Susan, it's great you were able to get PSE2024!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

If Amazon had this offer here, I'd get it immediately.  I got mine, the 2025 version (3-year subscription), in a fantastic Amazon offer.  The newest email I got from them advertising the app is more expensive, but it's still cheaper than on their site.

Of course, there is a learning curve.  No two programs are alike, so I take one day at a time.  I don't assume it will be fast, and I'm not in a hurry.

Like I said before, for both Affinity and PSE, I first want to learn the Tools, what they are for, and where I can find them.

I watch short tutorial videos on YouTube.  I watch, pause, and practice at the same time.

Susan, I bought PSE 2025 and love styles. I found a ton of them on Creative Fabrica. They also have "text effects," but those can only be used in PS. I've been experimenting with some of the features of PSE.  I agree that all the layouts are beautiful, but I wanted to stick with a program that I was already familiar.

I've also been busy looking for a new Internet service since Spectrum was once again raising their prices. I've been going crazy setting up my ATT and Directv with my husband's "help." At least some things got dusted!.๐Ÿ˜„

That's cool Mary.  I was also thinking we could erase with a grey and bring a small amount of color in so it's a little desaturated and old looking.  There is a lot of possibilities with this technique.

this is a good idea, watching then pausing.  I will follow this too.  After the wedding stuff is done by mid-end of march.

I thought about getting 2025 too, but thought if I use it very little or for just a few techniques (styles, brushes etc) then having a stand alone that goes beyond 3 years would be a better deal.  If I like it and use it then I'll jump on the 3 yr license.

This image was just too cute to pass up. I saw it, copied it from FB (the Cincinnati Zoo video post), and used it in AFF. (Quality not great). I didn't have too much trouble using the tools I wanted, but I feel so bumbling and awkward working in that environment. Just a simple layout with some elements (from ET Designs) and brush work. Used Adjustment Recolor to change the background and overlay edge. Fonts are Belmonth (script) and Tuce.

Oh, and he's a porcupine.

I know the feeling, but I think it is important to keep practicing. It is the quickest way to get the things you will use more familiar and don't forget the most of us started PSP in the same manner! That said, I like what you have done here and nobody has to know the trouble you had making it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

When we havenโ€™t seen Bonnie here for a while, she is usually on the road or busy creating great layouts about pickleball and daily life.
Lovely work, Bonnie.

You did it! I was so surprised to see you could get v. 2024 so I went to look and there it was! It's all your fault, Susan, that I just spent 160 Can$ when I wasn't going to buy anything for a while. There were comments that some folks had trouble installing it, so we'll see how that goes! I think I prefer PSE to AFF; some features/tools are just better and I have so many PS files from different designers.

Oh, I can recall all too well how bumbling and stumbling I was with PSP in the beginning. There are still some things I struggle with, but I feel so much more confident now. It's important to remember that learning anything new is difficult until it gets easy!

Julie, I'm so happy you also could get the PSE2024 version. ๐Ÿ™‚  IMHO, learning PSE is easier than Affinity.

However, I like what Affinity has to offer very much.   Ultimately, everything gets easier once we learn the program well.
