Cassel Posted February 4, 2022 Posted February 4, 2022 Once a week, there is a radio show that has been on for many years. It is called Vinyl Tap. It is 2 hours of songs that are picked around a particular theme. Sometimes, it has to do with a word, sometimes, a topic, sometimes it is another particularity (like "unlikely duets"). In honor of Betty White, who passed away just before the new year, I suggest you find a song title that uses the word FRIEND in it. Use that song title as a title for your project, or quote it somewhere on the page. Your project could be about a particular friend, friendship in general, or any other angle you want. Are you up to the challenge?
Bonnie Ballentine Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Master Class: No Scrap Kit 2 Thank You For Being A Friend...theme song for Golden Girls. Thank you for being a friend Traveled down a road and back again Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant I'm not ashamed to say I hope it always will stay this way My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow And if you threw a party Invited everyone you knew Well, you would see the biggest gift would be from me And the card attached would say Thank you for being a friend Thank you for being a friend Thank you for being a friend Thank you for being a friend If it's a car you lack I'd surely buy you a Cadillac Whatever you need, any time of the day or night I'm not ashamed to say I hope it always will stay this way My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow And when we both get older With walking canes and hair of gray Have no fear, even though it's hard to hear I will stand real close and say Thank you for being a friend (I wanna thank you) Thank you for being a friend (I wanna thank you) Thank you for being a friend (I wanna thank you) Thank you for being a friend (I wanna thank you) Let me tell you 'bout a friend (I wanna thank you) Thank you for being a friend (I wanna thank you) Thank you for being a friend (I wanna thank you) Thank you for being a friend (I wanna thank you) And when we die and float away Into the night, the Milky Way You'll hear me call as we ascend I'll see you there, then once again Thank you for being a Thank you for being a friend (I wanna thank you) Thank you for being a friend (I wanna thank you) Thank you for being a friend (I wanna thank you) Thank you for being a friend People, let me tell you 'bout a friend (I wanna thank you) Thank you for being a friend (I wanna thank you) Thank you for being a friend (I wanna thank you) Thank you for being a friend Whoa, tell you 'bout a friend (let me thank you right now for being a friend) Thank you for being a friend (I wanna tell you 'bout a pal and I'll tell you again) Thank you for being a friend (I wanna thank you, thank you) Thank you for being a friend Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Andrew M Gold
Ann Seeber Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 I tried something new -- PSP's new Frame Tool. I used it to create the ovals and to encase the sheet music. Unfortunately, in adding other elements, the frames vanished, acting more like masks. They were very touchy to work with and wouldn't let me add the flower elements, so I flattened the design, saved it as a .jpg, and went from there! Here's BETTY! :-) Edit: With this small version you may not be able to read the upper-right cartoon: "It says so much about your life and legacy if people think you died too soon at 99."
Corrie Kinkel Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Bonnie and Ann your layouts are very different but I love them both!
Mary Solaas Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Ann - I love the layouts you have done about Betty White. She was a very special lady. Finally got to see the tribute made for her (I think it was originally made to celebrate her 100th birthday). Bonnie - thanks for your layout and giving us the lyrics for the song.
Ann Seeber Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Mary: Thank you for your kind words. I saw that tribute, too, and Betty was, indeed, a very special lady.
Corrie Kinkel Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 I took me a while to come up with a layout, it was a very busy week with al kind of things to do! I have this photo that my daughter send to me lately with one of the grands and their dog meeting their mouse. Don't ask me why, but the song "We're going to be friends" by the band The White Stripes popped up in my head. It is of children who go back to school in the Fall and make friends. I used the WordSlats script on the photo, made a scallopped mat and used a paperclip I had made before. The background is a paper I had in my stash and I made a pattern with a white stripe for my text.
Lynda DiGregor Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 I was going to use "Thankyou for Being a Friend" too but you all beat me to it. Wondering if you know that it was written and performed by Andrew Gold before it ended up on the Golden Girls. I never heard his name before but it seems he was a success in his early 20's. Just a little fun fact.
Lynda DiGregor Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 Again I went with John Prine one of the most prolific singer/songwriters of our time and one of my favorites. This is from his album "Aimless Love", "Be My Friend Tonight"
Mary Solaas Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Lynda - John Prine is my daughter's and her husband's favorite singer/songwriter. May I share this layout with her?
Lynda DiGregor Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Mary, Sure, would you like the larger version? Lynda
Mary Solaas Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Thanks, Lynda. Yes, this time I think I would like the larger version.
Lynda DiGregor Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Mary, I sent it as a reply in e-mail Lynda
Lynda DiGregor Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Again for the song challenge, Waylon Jennings, another favorite. One photo is Getty Images, the other two of Jennings are from the internet but there was no name on them The background is a photo I took at Santa Monica Beach in California and I used some PSP frames.
Ann Seeber Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Lynda: Very nice! Everything flows together. Not very familiar with him, though I've heard of him, I now see he's very attractive! ;-)
Lynda DiGregor Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Thanks Ann, He is kinda cute. :-) Unfortunately he died in 2002. He is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Corrie Kinkel Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Lynda both your layouts are very pretty, although I must say that I'm not familiar with both the artists. Maybe they are not so well known over here, at least not to me.
Lynda DiGregor Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Corrie, I should probably already know the answer to this question but can you tell me where you are? My husband and I are fans of country and folk music, especially my husband, so these two artist are extremely well know in the USA to people who like the genre. There are lots of YouTubes of them if you are interested in checking them out. I'm glad you enjoyed the layouts as you do a pretty good job yourself and it's nice to have feedback from those that know what they are doing. Thanks, Lynda
Mary Solaas Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Lynda - I guess I am not familiar with the process. Where would I receive the e-mail?
Corrie Kinkel Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Lynda, I'm in the Netherlands and altough I know some of the great names of country and folk music, these artists aren't among those. But I'll certainly check them out on you tube in the coming days.
trish williams Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Song Challenge Dionne Warick and Gloria Gayner saw them both at Wembley, London where they sang this song xx
Ann Seeber Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 Killing 2 birds with one stone: Here's Queen with You're My Best Friend using the QP5-extra as the basis for the layout.
