Sketch10-2022-01.jpg

Learning scrapbooking is often done with practice, looking around for inspiration, and trying to recreate projects we admire. Sometimes, we can be inspired by finished projects, but sometimes, we also have to use our imagination to interpret something.

This challenge will give you an opportunity to envision something from a "boring" base, and you will have to imagine the end result differently. The sketch is only a written idea, and you can fly with it, modify it, and customize it to fit your vision, your photos, your supplies.

As I have security cameras all over the property, I can appreciate the snow, but not have to experience it while I hibernate in the south.  I always marvel how pretty it is, but truthfully, I don't miss the cold anymore.  There was a day I would have, but not so now. No more plowing the road all the way to the ocean either.  YEA!

I, too, love it Minka!  I did live in upper Michigan on the Lake Superior border and experienced snow as you are showing, during my high school years.  Loved it then, but it got old around about May.  Yes, I remember my cousin graduating from high school in May and there was snow on the ground!  We don't get much snow here in Memphis, and even when it's predicted, we generally miss it.  My husband used to say we had a dome over Memphis!  Snow is predicted tonight (along with the rain) and looking at the radar we probably will get some mixed with the rain.

Your layout is beautiful!

Thank you, Mary.  Yes, me too ... I used to love to ski and sled and toboggan and go on the ski-do's ... but arthritis catches up with you and pretty soon those warm climates call.  When my husband passed, I realized it was time to make the transition to half/half ... and even that has become more sixty/forty.  LOL  Florida has much to offer but every state has their own benefits.  I think one is always uppermost in your heart as home.  Maine will always be in my heart.  Year round beauty and things to do ... if you can.  I always look forward to going home in Spring when all that white stuff is gone!

Minka I too love your layout and sometimes I'm a bit yealous of all that snow. Here we can have some snow, but nothing compaired to where you are from. This winter we haven't had snow yet, instead it is misty, foggy, raining and everything is grey and dull. I'm longing for Spring.

My sketch challenge is using Carole's sketch layout with a few changes, background is color taken from the photos and a texture. Frame colors are also taken from the photos. I took the  photos on our recent trip to Arizona, Nevada and California. Death Valley is a wonder to see.

My take on the sketch challenge. Over the last couple of weeks my Amaryllis flowered very beautiful. It had 3 stems and each stem had 4 flowers with 2 stems flowering at the same time; the last stem is in flower at the moment. I used the watercolor freebie mask from last weekend on my photo. The sketch was my starting point but I didn't follow it completely. Made the papers, 2 other photos with details and an extracted bulb. The font is Rhapsody script.

Here's my sketch challenge. I used a grayscale image for the background over a blue layer and used the multiply effect. The plaid I had made from the colors of another photo not used here. All the frames are made with Select Selection borders, flood filled, outer bevel and drop shadow. I used the raster-to-mask script for the photo placement. The font for the heading is Berlin Kitchen. Photos are from the internet.
