Jacques Posted June 3 Posted June 3 @Linda Rexford @Susan Ewart @Jeni Simpson I don't know "Nik Collection", "Topaz", "FilterForge", "AlienSkin". What are they for? 1

I think there is two masterclasses in the Campu about FilterForge, it's pretty cool for adding filters to photos and making frames or backgrounds and it usually comes on sale, that's the time to buy it when it does. Topaz I think is well-known for denoising, sharpening and upscaling photos and the Nik Collection is for editing and is supposed to be easy to use. I wanted Silver Efex because it's the top choice for B&W conversion. I didnt want any of the other products in the collection. I've never had AlienSkin but wonder about it too. 1 1
Cassel Posted June 3 Author Posted June 3 There are also some articles on the blog about Filter Forge: https://scrapbookcampus.com/2019/03/featured-resource-filter-forge/ https://scrapbookcampus.com/2021/10/7-fun-filter-forge-filters-for-halloween/ https://scrapbookcampus.com/2016/04/10-fun-filters-from-filter-forge/ 3 1 2

I wanted Nik Silver Efex but it comes with the whole collection now and it's a bit out of my budget right now. i bought it years ago and haven't updated it, probably because I haven't used it as much as FilteerForge, which I use all the time. 4

Scrap pages I would do at 3600x3600, but these are not necessarily scrap pages, although you can add your creations to scrap pages as some have done. Thank you, Jeni. 🙂 I was doing the projects in a 600 x 600 canvas on all the other lessons, just thought I'd try it on a bigger canvas for a change for some reason lol, in part to learn how to resize in Affinity and check the quality after resizing. I should have stayed with what was already working lol. 3
Sharon Murray Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Finally caught up!! I also figured out what step was missing in Lesson 6- I did not click "Scale to object". This was probably mentioned in the lesson but overlooked because I was in a hurry to get it done 🙂 I really enjoyed this vector workshop and learned so much! Thank you so much @Cassel ♥ I also really loved seeing everyone's work - so many different takes and so much talent! 8

I was pleasantly surprised how easy it is to use so many tools in Affinity. May I suggest that you remove the background paper from the counters in the letter B. In typography the counters are the negative areas which are enclosed or partially enclosed by the letter. In other words, I believe it is not part of the letter itself. Edited Monday at 06:10 PM by Sue Thomas Thank you, Sue, I really appreciate your comments. I am feeling a bit silly asking this, but I do not understand what your mean. I still have so much to learn but I tried to look at the image to see where I need to remove the background paper from the counters in the letter B. Can you please help me further with this? 4

You don't need to feel silly, as we were all beginners at sometime or other. There are several ways to achieve this, firstly, you should still have the vector letter, by using 'from vector object', in the selction tool bar, invert, delete. Probably, the best option for you is to use the eraser tool. I added a shadow, to demonstrate that the pattern used in the letter, shouldn't be in the empty spaces of the letter B (counters as they are called). Edited June 4 by Sue Thomas 6 1 1

The pattern in the middle of the letter B. I had the pattern in these. Thank you so much Sue. 4

Thanks Jeni There is a cost to Udemy, it is currently USD13.99 per course, for a short time. Ally has 15 courses there. I am doing another, Learn the entire Affinity Suite, by Lindsay Marsh and Jeremy Hazel. Edited June 6 by Jeni Simpson 3 1

Thanks Jeni Corrie, I'm taking an Affinity Designer class on the Affinity Revolution site. I'm not sure if there are differences in what they offer compared to Udemy. It’s probably worth checking out. 4
Corrie Kinkel Posted June 7 Posted June 7 (edited) Thank you Jeni and Cristina, I'll have a look as soon as I have finished making a photobook as a thank you gift from the swimming group I'm in. The lady who manages the coffee/tea and lesson's fee at the pool is leaving and we had a buffet made by one of our members. My attribution was taking the photos and now I'm making an album. So busy doing that and getting it printed as soon as possible. Edited June 7 by Corrie Kinkel 4
