I didn't have time to comment on everyone's work, but I loved the variety of styles and themes.

Through the pages, I went to so many places, shared sweet moments, and learned a lot.

Thank you to everybody who decided to share their work!

I am behind as I am also reorganizing things at home, separating household stuff, clothes, books, etc., to throw away or donate.   It's incredible how we collect things over the years; some I haven't touched in ages.

But I have finished a few more pages.

For Day 5, I created another page, this time using the Text Effect that had previously failed to work.

After you are done your reorganizing, can you come and do my house?  Some stuff is hard to let go of.

Maybe I should put in my hearing aids. 😄

It is a fairly high frequency sound so it is possible that you don't hear it as well as others since high frequencies are the first ones people lose in aging (wow, didn't ever think that my professional training would serve me in this forum!).

Corrie, I haven't found an explanation, and it might be a bug.   I also noticed that in Affinity Photo 2.6, you are not asked to give the Group a name as in 2.57.

Expand

I don't think so, for me it works now!  I still have to give the Group a name, but I can ignore that pop-up and Affinity names it just Group. That is fine if you only have 1 group and if there are more you always can give those a name.

Life has been happening so I still have to complete my D7,  but I have created a new template (below), I just need to decide which photos to include and maybe move the template around.

I also saw a video on text and how to include different colours/patterns and decided to have a play -  it is the same method as Carole showed us in the Bootcamp, (drag the colour/pattern layer onto the text)  but just by adding extra layers of colour or pattern and by moving them around it gives options.  My play included similar to what we did on D3.

Thank you to all who posted such interesting stories and places to visit and the amazing creations, it really is a talented group.  Thank you Carole for taking on Affinity and sharing your knowledge with us it really is appreciated.

Oh, Corrie, this is great!

Mine still behaves the same way, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong now that everyone can use this technique in Affinity 2.6.   I'll have to investigate.

To name the group is not important to me; it was just something I noticed.

Here I am, the turtle bringing up the rear.  Lesson 4.

I added an reverse shadow to the page so it shows where the white page ends (it's only on this smaller forum version).  After I am done all the pages I'll decided about the background or added more frames.  I kind of like the white, last year I added backgrounds.  Also the blue boxes I'll have to decide on a color.  here is the left side.

Lesson 5.  Shadow just for visibility in the forum.

I wanted to try doing the diagonal version mentioned in the tutorial.  With a little luck I'll get this done by the end of the weekend.

I like the diagonal with this photo, it works great! You choose an interesting theme for your magazine and your pages show it to perfection. Besides that you are almost done with them and afterwards comes some tweaking. I'm looking forward to what you will do in the end.

Thank you so much Corrie.  I think I am learning more about manipulating masks than I did first time I did this workshop.  I hope it's because I'm more confident with the use of mask, no sure, but I'm happy to have learned more this time through.  It's certainly an odd theme, rather a theme, non-theme.  I kind of feel tapped out creatively right now.  At least I'm getting some photo time in.  I am also looking forward to seeing how everything turns out for everyone and for myself.  Lots of playing around to see what i like.  I'm so used to seeing the white parts that I now dont want to get rid of them.  I'm sure I'll change my mind about 10 times.😄

I have finished Day 7, and it's a double page again.   Maybe there will be a Day 8, to use the last photos I have from this 2023 Malmö tour.

OK, so I am having a go at Lesson 5 from a single to multiple masks and having a problem. The first time I tried it, the top mask layer was ok, but the bottom mask didn't show up.  I have tried this now about 4 times, and in each case the black fill is just not happening. After I inverted the selection on the mask, chose black, and the fill tool it looks as though nothing is being filled. I have closed PSP2020 and opened it up again in case there was a glitch, but I am still not getting the desired effect. I have also tried this technique on one of the other templates for masks in this workshop, but still have the same outcome. Can you help please.

I will try to explain  There is one large photo layer but what if you have two photos to showcase?   You can simply create two new shapes. You can use the Move tool and activate the photo layer, and make it about half the height it was before. Then rightclick on that new layer and duplicate it and move the copy. For 3 layers you just have to make the layers smaller.

Thank you Krystyna.  I should have said which ones they were.  Land is Asterixa, Air is Twinkling Night and Sea is Night Light (which when you load it, it shows up in the font list as Ninght Light - I found out when I couldnt find it in the list).  All of them are from Creative Fabrica.

When you use the Fill tool, make sure that the Source: (in the toolbar) is set to Current Layer. It tends to default to Current Layer & Below, and in that case, it is NOT working as we would expect.
