Cassel
In your country (or in your family), what is the story about Santa? Or what other character is associated with Christmas? This might be another of those informative chitchats! Let's share.

Corrie Kinkel
Well our Santa lives on the North Pole too, but in our case that is in Lapland a geographic area in the utmost northern part of the European countries Norway, Sweden and Finnland through which the Polar circle runs. His official address is in Rovaniemi in Finnland and the postal services even deliver letters from kids addressed to Santa there.🎅 2

The kids just address their letters to Santa Claus c/o North Pole.

I learned about the Elf on a Shelf when my family moved to the States 5 years ago but I have seen it pop up now in the shops as well.

She's very clever and amusing. There are lots of ideas now, on the internet. I have seen various themes too: helpful (the Elf would sort or organize things), pretend play (taking a bath in the sink, playing cops and robbers, etc.), mischievous (making a mess, playing tricks, etc.). Although the mischievous are the most "laughable", I find that they are the opposite of what we ask children do to, so it is a mixed message. Originally, the idea was to just play Hide and seek in the house, but this has really taken off in a different direction. But the creativity in these can be off the top for some parents!
