Day 6
Quick translation:
Of course we shouldn’t forget the flowers in Appeltern.
There are thousands species of flowers and plants in more than 200 example gardens to have a look at on more than 10.000 m²!
Don’t you know yet what you would like, you can find inspiration in the park, but online, on Appelterns site you can find a encyclopedia where you can
read more about plants, flowers, shrubs and trees. Is this a bit too much information, you can’t make up your mind, you can hire an gardener to give you garden advice.
Day 5
Translation:
If you’ve seen Appeltern one time, you’ve seen it all?
Well, no!
Look at the photo’s beneath, so you can see why multiple visits are recommended!Every season is different in Appeltern. The photo’s above are made on almost the same spot in March and in September.
The chair on the top photo, is hidden on the left side of the picture at the bottom.Day 4 second try 😉
This is much better, white was a bit too much, but grey-ish is better then the green I had before. Changed the title and subtitle.
Isn’t it odd, one time your completly stuck and now with one suggestion from Carole, it’s a better page.

L- Listen to music 😉
I don’t know what I did, but editing my post because the pictures where in the wrong way, my complete post was deleted….
My day 4
I’m not sure about the colour of the title (didn’t like green much) and the title itself, because it “does not cover the load(? “), I mean the text is about the beginning of Appeltern and not from classic to modern, but will change later on when I come up with a better title.
Translation:”
The gardens of Appeltern started long ago with gardener Ben van Ooijen, who made example gardens near his shed to show people what a garden would look
like instead of showing them from paper. This expanded to what nowadays the gardens of Appeltern is.
You can’t only see example gardens, but buy plants, attend workshops, eat,and even weddings and other gatherings are held here. You can also see old and new coming togeth, as shown here on the photo’s.
A tea house, a statue hidden in the green and even an iron tree with discarded garden supplies.”Yes, Sue, that’s what I meant 😀
Gerry, you’re also a cat lover I see. We had, long ago, seven cats at the same time. We had a big house then so it was ok to have so many.
Like the mask on the last picture 🙂
Sue, I can see myself strawling(?) on the paths used on your left page……….
Here is my day 4 🙂
I’m having doubts of the black characters in the title, didn’t like green much , the title itself, because it does not cover the load(?), it’s not capturing exactly what the article is about, but will change it when we have more pages.

Day 3
This is my favourite garden in Appeltern. If you would like to have look what Appeltern is, check their site: http://www.appeltern.nl

I’m always amazed how the same theme can give such different results, wonderful projects!!
Translation:
My favourite spot
My favourite spot in Appeltern (the name of the showgarden) must be this spot and a spot further on which I call the Ikea garden. This spot looks and is soothing with the bench near the water and the plants surrounding you.
This picture I printed and it’s on a wall.
Belwe is the font I used.
Had another go and changed the size, added a barcode and a gradient. Font is belwe Bd 🙂
Am I the only one who is a bit “scared” to alter settings like UN check the lock aspect ratio for example? I’m always afraid I don’t remember how it was before altering, especially when you start another project 🙂
Oh wow Ann, what a wonderful lay out! 🙂
I’m in too 🙂
The last challenge (travel tale?) I couldn’t participate even though I wanted to due to my mum moving house and the enormous amount of paperwork that came along with it. My head was a bit too full 🙂
But anyway, I hope I will keep up with this challenge and love to see all your projects 🙂
I love Cristina‘s lay out, but I only did what was asked in the tutorial. Will change things later. Love the code at the bottom and the Special edition text,Cristina 🙂
My challenge subject will be Appeltern, a garden inspiration park in the Netherlands my husband and I love to go to. It’s so nice to walk there, even when you don’t need inspiration for your garden.
Well anyway, here is the first page 🙂

Is it possible to show us why the same sort of elements ( for example a button/flower) need another setting? I’ve read your explanation with the butterfly, and that made sense ? but maybe when you could show the difference it would help even more? 🙂
I’m from the Netherlands too, but live in the upper north of the country. No floods there…………
It’s awful to see how the three countries are affected…..
Thanks for asking 🙂
I will try to participate, but with a mum moving house (almost 82), I will be busy!
I think I will use pictures of nice places in the Netherlands we have been to over the years 🙂

Carole asked: “Monique, how many pets would you have at the same time? ”
At one time we had 7 cats at one time and a dog . We had a big house then, so space enough 🙂 Now we have one cat and one dog in a smaller house. 🙂 Can’t imagine a house without pets 🙂 I haven’t got chickens anymore now.
Thanks Sue, I wrote your tip down for the future projects 🙂
Another pets lay out……….
Day 3
We had several kinds of chickens over the years and even some little ones (how do you call them? Chicks?)
When you add shadows the groups merge?
And day tw0 🙂
I think I have a double shadow on the banner at the dog page.
If that’s correct, I’m gonna jump for joy because I finally (maybe) see shadows better (well how they show) 😀 😀
Text is in Dutch, so translated it is:
The favourite color for our cats is really red, we’ve had other colors, but red ones….
Our dogs are accidentally all brown, brown/white or dark brown.- This reply was modified 3 years, 7 months ago by MoniqueN.. Reason: Dutch translated text added
My day 1 was ready earlier this week but forgot to upload it 😀
The animals on the pages are the ones we had over the years. (We had more, but before the digital era, so don’t have pictures of them scanned yet)
Two of them are still here, the rest are in heaven 😉 You could say I’m a pet lover (and my husband too)
