Yay! I can help you with that, Cindy! (Finally I get to answer a question instead of asking them!)
Here is a pic — the circle is your materials palette and the point of the arrow points to the “add a color” plus sign. If you mess up and have one color two times, the minus sign will get rid of it.
Also showing in the photo are two important things – the Layers Palette (with all the layers you use) and the History (where the undo feature shows!!!)
Usually these three palettes are docked, or “parked” you might say, all together and off to the side, but my PSP is more free wheeling and they just float wherever they’re out of the way.
Here is a nice big picture. I think. LOL!
Thanks!
Also, in the Lab, there are several references to Scribble (as in scribble fill) but they are all in the “try these Experiments” part of the labs, not the video “Learn this” section. So you say they’d be really cool to do, but I don’t know how, LOL! (There is one thing in Scribble, but that is sort of many lines going over each other in 9-6 to write the word “Family” as the example.) I’d like to fill a heart shape with more zig-zaggy scribble lines of a gradient pinky-red for Valentine’s Day, mostly staying in the lines, but not quite. I’m using a mouse, not a tablet. 🙁
This should probably be a tutorial as opposed to Q&A, but I’m not sure where those requests go, LOL! There is one tutorial for chalk (this is very even and stays in the lines) and another for paint, but nothing for just nice, but slightly irregular, lines used as a fill.
I am back with a new problem. I have a bunch of backgrounds and I am adding texture to them using some overlays I’ve been collecting over the years. I know enough to work with them on being overlays or underlays and changing from color to multiply to normal, lighten and darken, etc., but I cannot figure to how to keep the original colors I worked on so hard (see previous post with the color palette). The overlays change the colors so drastically, I don’t think you could say I am even using their palette any more!
You can see the light colors above – those are particularly being ruined by me. 🙂
I do not know if this is a Lab or a Q & A, but I need some severe help! Do you think I should start making all my backgrounds super-bright and saturated so that when I add a gray overlay it brings down the tone of the color?
I’ve always admired this style. You (Carole) sort of get into it with the smile shaped text in one of the Labs, but not exactly.
I’d call it, “Text in an Irregular Contained Area”
Here is the PS tutorial for it…I’m going to look at it, but maybe not for a while. Right now I am on a short break between cooking Christmas brunch and Christmas dinner. :))
Ann, that is exactly it! LOL, and it’s addictive, addicting? Whatever the word is!
LOL! Susan, that reminds me of a story of when I was in college and I joined an ad agency, thinking about graphic design. I went to a big school and mostly hippies in those days, so I envisioned doing suede coats with fringe hanging down and chamomile tea or patachouli candles or something. My first account was Ace Hardware. ROTFLMAO! “Let’s see what you can do with this”, they said. I think it was around this time of year, so snowblowers and stuff you throw down for icy sidewalks.
BUT the reason I popped on here is the Spark pattern contest at Creative Fabrica! It is soooo fun! You tell it something like, “Little wildflowers and individual petals in various colors of every color blue, green pink, raspberry, coral, off-white, orange and yellow. hardly any blank space. facing all directions. watercolor illustration” and it comes up with some ideas which are mostly not-very-good to terrible, but I’ve had a few really good ones, too. I had just asked Carole for help with the seamless pattern script and this was right along those lines. I’m pretty sure that with the proper instructions to their AI computer I could get some really great patterns. To make them seamless, they often do the blur-thing, so that’s not too great, but it’s sort of like pulling the handles on the slot machines in Vegas…just a lot of fun to see what comes up next!
Thanks! The store is all switched around! It really looks great!
Okay, I’m back. I wanted to leave a review of this Element Stacker script because I have used it soooo much in the last 4 months. It’s really, really handy! But there is no link to leave a review.
*Could* it be because I put it in my Wish list and bought it from there, and the store doesn’t realize I have it?
Yeessss! so many times I’ve read things here or have seen cards and LOs, and I don’t feel like writing a big paragraph saying how much I like it or what I especially like, but would like to let the author know I enjoy what I’ve read or seen. Especially this week in the “what are you doing in December” thread….sooo many hugely funny, cute, inspiring, interesting cards, LOs and posts I’ve enjoyed reading, but have been pretty sick and not feeling up to chitter chatter.
I would just like to hit the like button!
Merry Christmas, Carole, and all the Paintshoppers out there!
Ok. Thanks. I wasn’t sure if I was looking in all the right places.:)
Merry Christmas!
and thanks,
Suzy
Hi, Carole, or anybody, really,
Are those Lab Videos or the Master Class Videos downloadable?
I don’t really want an hour-long video, but what about the Shorter tutorials, like the glass marble? Are those downloadable?Suzy
Well, there ya go,then! I’m not loving the one-by-one part, and I was doing it backwards there for a couple colors, but through repetition, I got it! Bedankt, Corrie!!!
I need to know how to get palette into PSP. I add the colors individually (because I can only do one color at a time!), but I must do it wrong. Each single color is a palette on its own.
This is the palette. The .aco Photoshop File is at Pixelscrappers, Feb 2023 Blog Train – Working, in case PSP can read aco files, too.
I want all these colors in one palette. Can it be done? eEasily? :)) Is there a script for this?

Such novel ideas! And congratulations, Mary!
Here is what I’m working on. No shadows on this, so I want to see what happens when it lands in a gallery situation. I’m not sure it needs shadows, or not, but it gets submitted to community calendars, which in essence is a gallery.
This is 600 x 450 px. Meh. It’s blurry. So I sharpened it – still blurry.
Does anybody know? Which is the best way to drastically reduce size? bicubic, smart size, AI?
Looks great! And more fun than dusty genealogy usually is, LOL!
Very, very nice! And the advice to concentrate on one thing at a time is good, too!

Yes, good job Marie-Clare.
Since this is my first Christmas here, I wasn’t expecting anything, didn’t even know it was happening until it happened. The word art and Christmas tags are exceptional! Thank you, Sue!Update: I laid the foundation to cancel the LED light display in a text tonight. It will be below zero (-19 C) here and it’s located in a large semi-public garden, so instead of driving it, you are supposed to park in the lot, and walk it. One of my daughters lives in the southern US. I’m not even sure she has a warm enough coat, but to her anything below freezing is too cold. Fingers crossed! And fingers crossed the Escape room still has some openings.
I had to look it up — there are three in my city. I tried to make reservations to the closest one, and it said they were closed for COVID, so I went to the next one, and it was affordable (expensive, but still affordable for our family of 4). So I texted my adult kids to get a day and time they could make it since they’ll be home for Christmas and they said they had NO TIME for it on the Excel spreadsheet schedule! sheesh! Maybe when DD#2 gets home from a business trip she can look at that calendar again because I think it would be fun for us. (And it would be great to not have to go to the big LED Christmas light display that is so bright it hurts my eyes and even my teeth!)
Is there a hotkey or keyboard command for locking transparency?
I have one more sort of related because it’s a vector question…. if I have a PSP star shape from symmetric shapes (part of the program), how can I make one of the base legs just a little bit longer so the star is not a perfect symmetrical shape anymore, and yet still keep the vector edge?
Same thing with a heart shape. I want to drag the bottom tip downward just a little to alleviate the perfect-ness of the hearts. Or maybe the top middle “cleavage – drag it down. (The hearts are in the PSP shapes file, tho, not the symmetric shapes.)
And BTW, I want to make sure everybody knows I cannot be there tomorrow. We are having the out of town in-laws over for a few days. Today I’m cleaning and cooking, tomorrow is acting like it looks like this all the time, ROTFLMAO!
Wow! Just wow! Those are remarkable!
I’m struggling with two things. One is the seamless tile script. This is the one that asks you what size (in pixels) you want your tile to be. I struggle with this because I usually have the tile ready to go. Two items in a little tile. So they would alternate in their pattern. But then you want to start from scratch in the script. So I look at my tile…do I want to use the size of it? Or do I add or subtract? Well, I just never know the answer to the size.
the other thing I struggle with is vectors. Always. And it’s hard to practice because I don’t understand how to get the pen tool to LET GO! It wants to keep going and I want to stop. ? the Christmas 7 video and pdf will help a lot with the mouse right click on the pen tool. I just need to do it, maybe over and over and over until I get it, but meanwhile, getting that stupid pen tool to cease and desist would be mighty nice to make my practice sessions easier. This is probably not worth even one minute in the Q&A because I’m positive that everybody else knows this. Maybe you could say here? It’s not double click or right click. Er, I hope, because those don’t work.
As always, so clever, Brian! And the Advent calendar itself is genius!
Sue, Your photos are amazing! The photos and what you have to do to get them — including cutting up fruit, LOL! I cannot believe you trudge out in the snow just to get a pic of a rabbit, but these are exceptional, so it is well worth it.
Yeah, you save 2 months – $50.00!
Also, people should know there is a bunch of free stuff at Corel. It mostly started last week, but there is even more added, including stuff from Cassel. PLUS a big zip file of stuff at this web address. https://learn.corel.com/free-stuff/
(It is not the usual address I use, which is this https://learn.corel.com/freebie)I have a feeling that it is not new, but it’s new to me.
Rene, My LilyPad order had no duplicates this go around! Yay me! (But my Digital Press order had a couple, so I’m par for the course.) I keep CU in a completely different place, and when designers don’t use the same naming system, I don’t notice. And of course they were 70% off, so I can’t go whining to them about my lousy 5 bucks on 4 kits, LOL!
And finally, there is a little blending freebie at Katie Pertiet’s blog. It’s under November 17. It’s a third way to blend, you might say, blending for art, not to meld two photos together. She has little freebies four times a month…iTunes, Blending and 2 others, and they go back 6 months. And she has an entire month of gratitude cards for Nov. which may or may not be your cup of tea.
I’m in the same fix as Michele…. I always add it from my wishlist!
thanks for sharing that tidbit! I’ll make sure not to order that way anymore.
Thanks everybody! Monica, I wanted an ambulance to come so I could get an IV Drip because it had been over 27 hours since I had eaten or drunk. I think he was more panicked than worried, LOL!
My darling daughter sent Thanksgiving dinner back with her sister, and that along with the recipes I made before I got sick are yielding a long weekend of Thanksgiving. Probably only the Americans will understand — where the table is groaning under the weight. Not quite that bad since we only have leftovers, but still, very nice not to have to go to the store for four full days!
Does anybody else feel like Mom has left us alone without a babysitter? Another thread has the report that Carole is gone until Monday or through Monday… dang it! I can’t remember and I just read it!
