Hi good stuff. Mine got a little wonkie also and i noticed for some reason that the vector changed to open ...so i clicked the close vector button and it went away.

I have seen it say 'open' and 'close' and I don't know why or what it means. Maybe in an upcoming lesson?

  2. Day 2 lesson-

Often when I add a node and then try to move it, I end up moving the entire shape, and not the node. How do I know I have the node selected? How do I keep from moving the shape when I just want to move the node?

I increased the size of the nodes to medium. The small nodes are hard to see.

I could not find where to change the size of the nodes in PSP 2019, and I was seeing different things than Carole was showing in the video, so I switched to PSP 2020 and I didn't bother to look for where to change the node size because I was already frustrated......I worked with vectors in the "Beginners Workshop" several years ago. It was challenging then too. Some of it I remember, but not much.

  4. I have made a heart, and an arrow!

    And nodes are STILL frustrating!

And remembering to switch to the Pen tool IS important!

I am not posting anything today, because I am going to wait for Carole to give the Exporting directions tomorrow?  I hope to have more time to be frustrated tomorrow ?

  5. Day 6 - PSP2019 there is no rope tube. I used stitch, and it just looks weird. It looks like it put each letter on a new layer too. I guess there is some setting i would need to change.

  6. I'm calling this Day 2 & 3--I used my title for Day 2, on my Day 3 page. I'm not sure if that makes me efficient or a slacker ?

I don't know why, but my text became a 'floating selection'. It took me a bit of time to figure out what to change, so it was a frustrating evening! I imagine there is some reason you would want text to be a 'floating selection', but I don't know why.

Not my best work, it's too busy and too much focused (hahaha pun intended) on the right side.  I used stuff from my kit and learning I need way more stuff and that "stuff" needs to be in different orientations.  The photo was a test for me getting ready to photograph my camera collection.  The Pentax K1000 was the first  SLR camera I ever used, it has a soft spot in my heart.  And of course this isnt the actual camera I used, cause then I would have stolen it from my high school...and I'm a good girl and don't do that sort of thing?.  Anyway, my brother, who at the time was a commerical diver living in Borneo, came home to visit the family and came to the open house at my high school.  He was blown away by the schools dark room and my interest in photography, so much so, that he bought me my first camera, a Ricoh KR10, which I sold and now wish I still had.  I know. BEST. BROTHER. EVER!   Looking forward to Lesson 3, it looks wonderful.

Susan--my first real 35 mm camera was a Ricoh XR1, which I still have. But I don't know if I could still buy 35 mm film today. I bought my Ricoh when I graduated from high school because I could not afford a Pentax K1000, and the Ricoh was very similar and cheaper, and used the Pentax K-mount lenses. Good memory!

I was so ready for Day 3. And Carole gave us a template to work with! So, how hard was it going to be? Well, let me say...I spent way too much *@^$# time on this project! The text tool has a mind of its own (which is what I thought before I started this series). When I clicked on the Text Tool and tried to change the size, the colours would change. So, then I'd click on the Materials Palette boxes to change the colour, and the text size would revert. Or I'd click on the Font colour button on the text toolbar, and nothing would happen. And this went on and on until I was ready to do damage to the laptop! Sigh.

So here is my Day 3 with wrapped text. I'm so over it. (I used an old photo b/c I happened to have it for some work I was doing on a history article.) And then, I wanted to go back to change a couple of things, and I saved the .pspimage merged. Not my day.

    Text Play 3.jpg

Julie--I have had the same thing happen with the Text tool and Materials Palette! I was beginning to think I was crazy! Oh, maybe I am crazy but at least someone else has has experienced the same issue...

  9. Day 1 title--this was going to be a page with a photo of my garden seedlings inside just beginning to grow.

But since it is Day 2 already, that page won't be happening right now, so I am posting just my text title.

  10. I think I have too many things on my plate this week.....or too many things on my mind. I don't seem to have time to focus on the process for this workshop.

I try to watch the lesson each day and look thru all the forum posts!

  11. Project 5 -- I'm gonna call it 'done'. It has taken several days, created some frustration. Maybe added a few more gray hairs on my head ?

I know there are only 3 small squares. I made 4, but when I began merging them into one layer I realized I had the last one on a layer with something else....and I decided 3 squares were good ?  Now that I have thought about it, I suppose I could have used the history to figure out where I messed up and corrected it?

Lots of lessons learned on Project 4!  One of which is that I can't seem to find elements and papers to support what I have in my head of what I want to create! I've downloaded many "freebie" packages but they don't seem to fill the bill.  And what are these "tubes" that I read you guys are using? Do tell!  Please!

You can also google 'PSP picture tubes'

    Have fun!

Gabrella, how did you get the rounded corners on the frames? I kinda like that!  I 'think' when you got the window to 'select selecion borders' you used something other than Inside....that is my guess?

Pets have always left an empty hole in my heart when they are gone  ?

  14. Here in the United States, the Bald Eagle is our national bird. A hundred years ago, it was on the brink of extinction. But it has recovered. There are areas where the birds are known to nest.  And I had heard they could be seen on our local creek, but never saw one. One day in July last year, I drove out toward the creek to run an errand. I saw a large bird on the edge of the road. I slowed and expected it to fly away. But it didn't. As I drove past, I realized it was a Bald Eagle! I had to turn around, and get my camera out of my purse! It was very concentrated on eating lunch, which was roadkill in the weeds.

I have not been feeling well the past 3 days. I realize now I didn't do anything with the title, and I may have missed another step or 2, but I just don't feel up to it now. Since I had it halfway done, I felt I needed to finish it. I hope to work on Project 5 tomorrow, praying for a better day.

Hello.  In doing this next project I am not sure why but when I chose the magic wand and click on the photo that I want to place a frame around it selects the entire back ground???

Make sure your photo is on a different layer. And you have that layer selected.

Make sure the 'mode' is set to 'replace', and the 'match mode' is set to 'opacity'. Tolerance set to 0. "Use All Layers" has to be unchecked too, as Rene Marker said!
