  1. E = Jamaican ESCOVITCH fish - Escovitch fish originated in Spain, where it is known as Escabeche, and was brought to Jamaica by the Spaniards. Escovitch fish is the Jamaican version of Escabeche, as they give the fish its own local twist. Traditionally, a Jamaican escovitch fish consists of fried red snapper topped with vegetables that are sautéed in vinegar, bell peppers, scotch bonnet peppers, pimento seeds (allspice), garlic, and onions. Now, you can find many variations of escovitch fish, as it can be prepared with any fish or vegetables of your choice.

  2. Searching my archives proves that most of my fish stories happen indoors. Using PSP gave me the opportunity to use Cassel's Open Book script to showcase my aquarium. This was from a Double Page workshop in April 2023.

Since I don't use Affinity, my opinion might not count, but I don't see a reason to separate our creations by the product we use. It seems that if we all specify which we are using, we can all benefit. We already (veterans) share the details we used on a project when we post, e.g., fonts, kits, plug-ins, etc. It would simply be one more detail to share.

I agree, Michele. I like seeing everyone's work, no matter the tools used. I don't use Affinity at all but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy seeing those creations. To me it's more efficient all on one thread for the month.

    dogfish

Wondering about the name, I found this reference:
Why are dogfish called dogfish? from Reptile Pedia - Despite their small size, spiny dogfish are aggressive and have a reputation of relentlessly pursuing their prey. The name "dogfish" stems from their habit of feeding in packs — sometimes numbering in the hundreds or thousands. Gathered together, they sweep an area, eating the fishes in front of them.

Lab 14 Mod 9 - requirements: make a striped ribbon using a photo for the colors (I used one of the pictures of Anna and me for the colors) - the striped ribbons framing the layout; creating a pattern from a font sign - I chose the ampersand and made the pattern and then several papers - chose this one for the background; I also made the ampersand as a brush and a png picture and a preset shape. The pictures of me and Anna are from several different years and places we have visited. I made the sign in the center from several brushes I have made and AR Julian font.

Nice work, Mary. Sorry, I forget; is Anna a relative?

Ann, this is at least how Katie Pertiet designer, refers to this type of frames (Framed Spill Layers). I haven’t seen anyone else call them the same. I think Anna Aspnes calls them differently.

Wow, they are really nice, Cristina. Thanks for the info. Can I find them in a particular store or website?
