  1. Glad to see this workshop pop up again! I created a calendar for my granddaughter, Anna Lee, 2 years ago with the theme of the TV show, Downton Abbey, as we were both passionate fans. She and her husband even traveled from California to England and visited the real "castle." I don't know what my theme will be for this year yet but maybe another favorite TV show as they yield a lot of media photos to work with.  Here's an example of my previous work.

    Hello Carol and members,

I have a problem with the new PSP Ultimate 2023. I can't fill the photo edges with white even though I clicked everything step by step according to the Video. What mistake am I making (see screenshot) or is it due to changed working conditions in the newer version?

I also saved everything and restarted the program and tried filling again, nothing...

Doska: First of all, many times I miss the correct area to flood fill so I've learned to enlarge my image to see better. Also, you could Promote the selection (Control+Shift+P) and it will be on its own layer. Hope this helps.

Just finished Day 7.  I am still highlighting our Scandinavian trip because it was so special to us.  I have always wanted to go to Denmark and Norway because my grandmother was from Denmark and my Grandfather was from Norway.  As I was born in Australia, it was definitely on my "bucket list" to visit these countries.  This certainly exceeded my expectations.

Thanks to Cassel for all your tips on each of the projects I have delivered so far.  This is so appreciated as it helps me to learn.large.BootcampDay7600.jpg.605ef39531f649673abb604994944c19.jpg

Beautiful job on the layout, Carolyn. I wish I could travel with you to Scandinavia. On my own bucket list because my maternal grandparents emigrated to New York, she from Sweden and he, from Finland. My grandfather's last name was Hagquist but the officials on Ellis Island changed it to Higgins!? I think that happened more often than we know. Ironically, they got jobs at the famed Tuxedo Park enclave upstate a bit, and I can imagine the directive, "Higgins, bring the Rolls around." 😉

  4. BOOTCAMP 7-SANCTUARY -The title font is Belisha treated to a Chisel effect. The text font is Franklin Gothic Semi. The background is a photo of a local field treated with the Luminance layer effect. The bird is from "cpjess-tomorrow" kit and the top and bottom elements are from "ID-Face in the Photograph" kit. A bit of explanation about the center photo:  It was taken by my security camera which is mounted on a pole at the corner of the porch. You can see the pole's shadow on the left of the photo. Those stray cats are very skittish and hard to photograph.

As you go through Carole's tutorials, you'll find that she  often changes settings within tools, to achieve the desired effect.   Which is probably what has happened.  In those cases,  it is then a good idea to reset to default.   Once you have learnt how to use those settings through here tutorials, they can they be adopted  in other projects that you are working on, as you will have a much better understanding of how those tools work.

This is especially true for me if I use a script. I was surprised to see how the settings were totally different from the last time I used the tool manually.

My great-nephew Noah requested a baby sister. It took him about a day to adjust when he was told that it would be a brother instead. He takes the responsibility of being a big brother quite seriously.

Wonderful layout, Gerry. Can you tell me what fonts you used? They are different and quite interesting.

The US  government is already loosing it's political footing on the world stage,

Sue, if you would kindly refrain from political opinion statements in these rooms. Julie nicely just asked for peace, which many can agree on. It hurts my heart to see my country being bashed. It may not be perfect but, by gum, we're trying....😥

Ann, what a delightful photo.  I love your title and bottom "With Pockets!" .  Hilarious.  I should have joined the bootcamp.  Thought I'd have too much on my plate though (other than my sandwich and tea that is?).

Thank you, Susan. Actually Ru Choi used that title for the photo. Bootcamp proceeds at a slower pace than most with "skip days" in between new assignments. That gives me a welcome break at least twice a year.

  10. DAY 5-PROJECT 2-ADVENTURE PARK- I asked Ru Choi if I could use his chipmunk photo from the Hudson Valley in Pictures Gallery on Facebook. I dimmed the hand a bit and sharpened the chipmunk. My title font is Aviation Cocktail with inner bevel and shadow while the info on the right uses the font High Tower Text. The background paper and the birds I found in my stash without labels. The flower is by Marisa Lerin in a kit called Delight.

Even after all these year, the vastness still never ceases to overwhelm me. From someone who's homeland is  small Island.  You can put 3 UK's in Saskatchewan alone. A population of over 70 million.  Saskatchewan has a population of just 1 million.

Goodness... that is a radical change. We moved from the suburbs to the countryside but didn't experience such vastness as you have. Maybe your insect and small animal focus for your macro lens is your antidote. ?

  12. Here's my entry in the Bootcamp's first project: Waiting for the Great Pumpkin. This is great-grand Jonah James, born June 20 this year. I've done this exercise several times so I use old ones as templates. Here are the details: Title Font = Gil Sans Ultra Bold;  ID Font = Freestyle Script; Photo = by grandson-in-law Maverick Paolucci; Scatters = cass-frosty fall scatters; Oak leaves, tree and pumpkin are all cliparts from my Fall stash; Background plaid = PS-Janet-Scott-Gingham; tag and brad from Marisa Lerin and Vertical strip = AHA_somewhereintime_papers11-colorized.

And on to the next page in this travel saga.

    2023 Travel Challenge, pages 25-26_1000.jpg

These layouts are very pleasing to my eyes, Mary. Is this still Day 10? You usually label each page, and you didn't this time. Like Corrie said, this will be a wonderful, coherent album of your fascinating trip.

  14. For several years now a group of Facebook Friends and I have signed up for a Secret Santa exchange through the website Elfster. It allows you to post wishes, which is a big help when  you don't really know the people intimately like family. There's a set budget limit of $25 usually. I got a really neat kit to grow my own bonsai trees last year but my "black thumb" prevented all but one of four from germinating. Here's a reproduction of the invitation I received:

I have to admit.  I worked on this yesterday using the download from last year.  I don't want to discourage the newbies but I see I am not the first to post a extremely shopped table and sandwich.  Some of us have done this several times and have so much fun we do it again.   As for as this creation, I got the idea to do a Halloween one a few days ago and one thing led to another as usual.  I think I will NOT be eating off that table.

Yeah, though your creation is wonderful, the mold is too realistic for my appetite! ?

Silly me !! It is on here I post I think !!

Yes, Barbara, you're in the right area to post for the Bootcamp workshop. Welcome! Here's hoping you have fun and figure out how to make lunch at the same time! (kidding because the new lesson will teach you to make a digital sandwich ? )

I did not know where to post what you asked for in the first tutorial.  Just move this post if you have to and I'll know better for next time. ?

I will be using the complete workspace. Color is medium gray. I have the materials, layers and tools panels open.

First photo I will be using is of my grandniece and grandnephew. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53262601449_638f7ce13e_m.jpg   (Must we post the link of the posted images or can they be embedded and displayed?)

Thank you.  I'm looking forward to the next lesson.

Hi Emerald - Regarding your question about posting images; if you look at the bottom of the area where you are typing a response, there is a spot to access your images via your hard-drive. It looks like the image I posted below - just click on choose files or drag and drop. Keep all images 600 pixels or smaller. HTH

Zaduszki, it's not Halloween. It's pretty different activity, Carole made letters, template/frame. I added automn leaves ans fire wich is always visible during our acivity on a cementery.

    ZADUDZKI.jpg

Admiring your creation and curious about "Zaduszki," I looked it up. We used to spend a lot of time in the Polish/German community in Pine Island, NY, among the onion fields. Mostly we played "German Pinochle" and learned Easter traditions from an elder there. We had to bite the horseradish! I came up with this website that schooled me in Zaduszki, which now reminds me of the Mexican Day of the Dead, celebrated with sugar skulls. I think it's true the traditions honoring the dead are more meaningful than the silly Halloween craziness lately. One of the top TV shows has been about zombies. Not my cup of tea!
