She is a cutie, Clarine!

Julie, you may not be satisfied, but this is lovely. Your artistry side is shining through your layouts. I looked at this, and a few names came to my mind: Katie Perriet, Anna Aspnes, Lynn Grieveson⦠Great job.

Here is Day 3, and again, I created the template to suit my needs. I used two colors in the title to practice the technique shown in Affinity. It's very interesting.

Anja, this font fits perfectly the theme/cover page. Great layout.

I didn't know that, Julie. There's a lot I have to learn! As I said before, I like many things in PSE and Affinity, and I like others best in PSP. We can still work with PSP, and itβs a very good program, but the downside is that it has not been developed since 2022, which is already a long time for such a program. I agree with you. Itβs a shame the new owner let the entire development team go and is only interested in selling the app.

It must be a sight!

Hi Julie, I wasn't familiar with this author. I quickly researched and found that there are also movies based on his books. It is something for me to check out in the future. π

Here is my Day 2. The layout is similar to the one I created for the 2023 Magazine Workshop with minor tweaks. I added more text and one more element. There you go; my magazine doesn't look like a real magazine. Too many years of scrapbooking! π

I don't know about that... I'll do my best! π But yes, the most important thing for me is learning about the program, how the tools work, etc. This takes time, but it was the same when I learned PSP. Right at the beginning, I was overwhelmed, but slowly, everything made sense.

Corrie, seeing this El Capitan boulder that close must have been impressive! Some time ago, I read about Alex Honnold, who climbed this rock without ropes or other safety gear. The entire climb was filmed for NatGeo.

Thank you, Susan!

Thank you, Corie!

Great to see what has been posted so far! The different themes make it even more enjoyable. My theme is a business leisure trip we took in 2023; some photos are mine, and others are from the Internet. Here is Day 1 - Cover. The former Magazine Publisher "closed", so I went with a "new one" and changed the title. π When I first created the cover in 2023, I was inspired by a Travel Magazine I saw online. The tweaks are now based on the same cover. The bar code was created in PSP, following Carole's tutorial, and was already part of the 2023 PSP layout. Fonts: Britannic Bold - Courier New - Brock Script - Blokletters Potlood.

Caroly, I hope everything goes well and wish him a speedy recovery.

I already love the way it is now, Susan! The background, photo, fonts...

That would be great! If you don't have many photos of a single theme, your magazine could also be Random, like Gerry, or about Curiosities. Checking online, I saw a Curiosities and Oddities Magazine.

Yes and No. Lol Yes, because the first 3 layouts have been chosen and are done. No, because I'll recreate the layouts in Affinity and tweak them a bit, and I don't know the program well yet. But that's why it's fun!

Wow, Donna, I love this!

This also means I'll take loooonger to learn the programs than any of you. π But I love the learning process, discovering tiny bits of new things --and forgetting them after a few days π¬-- because there is so much to learn in a new program.

I have been watching many tutorials, whatever YouTube suggests, and I find it interesting. One of the videos was from the Affinity Revolution Channel, an official Affinity channel from 2021. The videos are short and well-explained. The video description offered a free Photo Course in one of them. However, following the link to the Affinity site, the only free course offered is "The Affinity Freebie Bundle." I took it and liked it.

I also never finished the last year's Magazine Workshop. So, I'll do the same as I did for the Affinity Bootcamp, use the same photos, and try to complete the workshop this time. π
-
I agree. It's not only about recording a tutorial but also how it is presented. The workspace has larger icons and text. She zooms in and out to better show what is being displayed. Even before recording it, there are so many details to consider.

Hi, Lucy! You made the front cover!

This week, I've been watching tutorials on both Affinity and PSE. However, I worked with PSP yesterday and today, preparing for the next Build-A-Kit workshop. As I created a Knot Rope from the Lab14-05, I was still amazed at how Carole created those lessons. It's worth every penny the Diamond membership. P.S.: I still have to work on my knot to resemble the one she created. π

I don't know if you've already used this method, but I watched a video, and there are two places to get the Color Picker Tool. One is the one on the top right side, which is more accurate. The other is on the left side, and it works like PSP. Under the same tool, there is a Style Picker Tool, which is perfect for repeating the same style (color, bevel, shadow, etc.) on something else.
