  1. Susan, I have to give this a thought! 🀣
  2. And no hustle, Michele!
  3. I didn't have time to comment on everyone's work, but I loved the variety of styles and themes. Through the pages, I went to so many places, shared sweet moments, and learned a lot. Thank you to everybody who decided to share their work!
  4. Day 6 is also a double page. I still have to start Day 7.
  5. I am behind as I am also reorganizing things at home, separating household stuff, clothes, books, etc., to throw away or donate. It's incredible how we collect things over the years; some I haven't touched in ages. But I have finished a few more pages. For Day 5, I created another page, this time using the Text Effect that had previously failed to work.
  6. Donna, seeing the whole "magazine" as a flipping book is so lovely. I love the blue paper too!
  7. Monique, this is another great to showcase the magazine!
  8. Good point, Susan! πŸ˜„
  9. It's great to see the result as a flipbook, Corrie. Great work!
  10. Hi Linda, thank you for the tip. πŸ™‚ In my case, the Recolor Layer was not automatically grouped into the Text Layer. I had to do it manually, as Carole showed in the video. I don't know how you created the text, but I used the Text Frame Tool, not the Artistic Text Tool. I am not sure if this influences the outcome, as I have not tested this way. Here is a screenshot showing the two layers separated.
  11. Beautiful layout, Mary! I also like the quatrefoil paper very much.
  12. Susan, I understand you need to set priorities and dedicate your time to what is important to you, especially if you have a full-time job. Don't be discouraged because we are "so far advanced." We are all starting to learn Affinity (or PSE), and the best way to learn anything is not to put too much pressure on ourselves or compare ourselves with others. You are not here to see my frustration because things are not working, and I still have to learn how to do it. πŸ₯΄πŸ˜„ But it's one day at a time. Chinese proverb: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step". πŸ™‚
  13. Corrie, I haven't found an explanation, and it might be a bug. I also noticed that in Affinity Photo 2.6, you are not asked to give the Group a name as in 2.57.
  14. Julie, I also laughed when I saw this sign in a shop window. πŸ˜„
  15. Day 5. I had a hard time with the Text technique shown on Day 5, using the Recolor Adjustment Layer and Mask Layer. The outside part of the Text would disappear as soon as the mask was created. To make a long story short, after watching the video quite a few times and comparing it with my setup, I noticed a difference in the Recolor Adjustment Layer shown in the video and mine. I was working in Affinity 2.6. I tried the technique in Affinity 2.57, and it worked perfectly. However, I didn't add it to the layout because I was tired of working with it. Nevertheless, it was a learning process, and it is an interesting technique.
  16. Oh, that's a pity, Susan. 😞 You could try to contact their support and explain what happened. They might have a fast solution.
  17. Oh, that's great, Julie!
  18. Anne, I love your comments! 🀣
  19. I also received an email from Affinity Revolution, watched the video, and downloaded the app. Yesterday, I played just a bit with the new selection tool. It's very good, but depending on the photo, more tweaks are needed. On PSE, there are the Select Subject Command and the Select Sky Command. How good the selection is will also depend on the photo; sometimes you may need to tweak with the Refine Brush or even paint in the Mask. But all in all, I think both do a great job.
  20. Oh, Julie, this is not nice, to say the least. 😞 I hope they can give you an extension. I can control how many days remain on my Trial Version by clicking MY ACCOUNT on the right side of the toolbar. I'd love it if they gave us a special offer for the app!
  21. I completed Day 4 this time, which I didn’t last time. This is another reason why it is good to repeat these workshops besides relearning the techniques I may have forgotten. Like Rene, I have been a rebel, not following the templates. But templates are just a starting point; sometimes, they work with the photos we have and other times, they don’t. More important for me is to learn the techniques.
  22. I love to look at old photos. This will be a lovely magazine, Ria.
  23. Michele, I didn't compare it with the font Harmony had used in the layout, but I found this one on the My Fonts site. Wavy Fonts
  24. Good news, Carolyn!
  25. Love the umbrella touch, Corrie!
