  1. Each of us has a system for keeping everything we have collected over the years. Most of my stash consists of freebies, but when I see something I like and that I could never create myself, I get it, but ONLY when it is on sale. The Lilypad site offers a 50% discount on some items chosen by the designers every Wednesday. It could be a kit or just papers, elements, borders, etc. I've found some interesting stuff this way. They also offer it on Fridays, but then it is only 20%. Usually, I unzip the files and keep the folder intact. But I separate some of the folders by theme, like Christmas, Summer, Halloween, and Fall. Recently, I have created a folder called "Artsy Designers" with subfolders that include the designers who create in an artsy way, like Lynn Grieveson, Katie Portiert, Rachel Jefferies, and Anna Aspnes. The type of layout I'll create will depend on the photo (person). Designing for preteens will be different than creating something about our trips, for example. Before, I would have only to please the moms; now, the children have grown older and have their own taste! ๐Ÿ˜„
  2. Corrie, that is a lovely card! I can only imagine how comforting it was for her to receive your weekly card, expressing that you were thinking of her and sending positive thoughts. The psychological side plays a big role in recovering. I like the title very much and love this technique of adding confetti inside a Text that Carole showed us in a Text Workshop a couple of years ago.
  3. Beautiful, Julie! The beaded-string title is just lovely. Sue has also created great layouts with them in the past, and Carole has some Alpha-beads scripts in case someone doesn't want to create them themselves; I have two of them.
  4. Your persistence paid off, Mary. It came out great, and like Julie, I love the Mardi Gras colors, too.
  5. kasany, I like very much how you used a photo as the background. Did you use a Blend Mode or other technique to make it look like this? I also love the other photos, especially the sunset ones (or sunrise?). No matter how often we see it, I think sunrise and sunset are magical. Cassel's Alpha fits the theme perfectly; I have used it a few times. She has tons of beautiful Alphas as freebies.
  6. Thank you, Corrie. Julie showed us the way to this precious freebie, and thanks to her, Anna Aspnes probably gained many new subscribers to her newsletter!
  7. This is the layout I created to practice the techniques from Lab12-Module 01 (Colored Tapeโ€”Hand-drawn Frameโ€”Scallop2 pattern). I'll catch up in a couple of more years! 8. Wow, Michele, this is beautiful, photos and layout!
  9. Julie, the photo is really stunning and repeating what Sue said; you did justice to it with this beautiful layout. I love the color palette you used.
  10. Thank you, Susan!
  11. So do I! I agree that this is a great way to learn. After taking Carole's Basic Scrap Courses, I wanted to continue because they taught me not only scrapbooking but, more importantly, PSP. I had no experience with scrapping, so I would search the Internet for ideas for layouts. I had created folders with ideas for one-photo layouts, two-photo layouts, etc. Sometimes, it was the color palette or the title that caught my attention. A long time ago, I replicated "a photo mat," created with paper ribbons. And I haven't stopped learning since then!
  12. Beautiful layout and photo, Julie. I love the idea of adding frames to the photo; it makes the colorful photo stand out more. When I create pages using mostly designer resources, I see it as a learning process. I pay attention to how they created the cluster, added a brush, a texture, or whatever. Maybe later, if I remember, I can try to replicate it using my own resourcesโ€”at least the ones I can create myself!
  13. Thank you so much, Julie! ๐Ÿ’Ÿ I also love seeing old photos and would love to create pages with them, but I have very few family photos or my own. The ones I have were sent by a cousin some time ago, who found copies when a family member passed away. Somehow, they were lost when my mother was moving to different houses; I was far away, and my brothers were not interested in that at the time. But I still have photos of Mom and Dad in my memory even before they were married, also as teenagers. ๐Ÿ™‚
  14. Thank you, Julie!
  15. Adding my 2 cents... How often are there misunderstandings when talking to a person in front of us and using our own language? At home, at work, with friends and colleagues, and at family dinners... ๐Ÿ˜„ Talking and writing in a language other than one's first language only adds another layer of difficulty to comprehension. There are nuances that we can only fully comprehend in our first language. No wonder I add a lot of smileys to my posts here. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  16. I am in, too. ๐Ÿ™‚
  17. Susan, you have also been creating beautiful pages, elements, papers, etc. Don't be too harsh on yourself. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ’Ÿ I have had the same feeling, and I just did not like what I had done. Now, I am more of the opinion that I should practice the techniques more, post what I have, and try harder next time if it is not a piece of art. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜„
  18. Julie, this is lovely!
  19. This challenge is packed with beautiful layouts. It's a joy to go through each one of them.
  20. Sue, this layout is just another example of your amazing work. It has so many well-thought-out details and techniques. I love the paper clip with a text. Brilliant.
  21. This morning, I watched the Halloween Effects2 Masterclass, and I loved the trick of using the Quick Script to speed up a technique I have used quite a few times since I learned it from the Pop-Up Masterclass. Back then, it was shown using the long way. It's good to learn both ways of doing it! Great effects are taught in this class. ๐Ÿ‘
  22. Instead of 12x12, this time, I created a layout with 8,5x11 dimensions. It does feel unusual, but I am trying to get used to it. I tried to use some of Anna Aspnes's freebies (MegaPack Plus Class) and elements from other designers, some of whom I recently got to know. EDITED: I got this mega freebie thanks to a tip from Julie, who shared where to find it on a post. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Credits: Cassel: Old Book Alphabet 2019 freebie Anna Aspnes MegaPack Freebie: Papers: AASPN_ArtPlayPaletteHeath_SolidPaper3 and 5 Paper Texture: AASPN_PaperTextures4_2 and 4_9 Others: AASPN_ArtPlayPaletteHeath_ArtStroke2 -- AASPN_ArtPlayPaletteHeath_Transfer7 -- AASPN_FotoGlowMix1_2 -- AASPN_MilieuWordARTMix1_WTHistory -- AASPN_UrbanThreadz3_9 Lynn Grieveson Frames & Borders: lgrieveson-worn-photo-edges1-4 & lgrieveson_retro_pop_1 Rachel Jefferies Bloghop freebie and from Art In Simplicity kit rjefferies_portraits_BLOGHOP-stamp (freebie) rjefferies-AIS-artistry03-flower10 rjefferies-AIS-artistry03-messystamp04 rjefferies-AIS-artistry03-sentiment01 rjefferies-AIS-artistry03-trinket-staple
  23. Well, Susan, Julie, and Corrie, I also have "big plans" to do something later. ๐Ÿ˜„ I see so many great ideas here that I want to replicate, and I am also inspired by different layouts I see on the internet, designer newsletters, etc. Well, I guess the saying "to bite off more than one can chew" resonates with me. But I know that, if not all, I will get some done one day or the other.
  24. I like the layout and the photos very much, kasany. Great work.
  25. Trying again to post this, as the last three times were unsuccessful. ๐Ÿ˜ž Thank you, Julie. ๐Ÿ™‚ This is really a Mega Pack! I only recently learned the name Anna Aspnes. A designer from the Lilypad site mentioned her in a newsletter, saying she had attended an Artsy Design Course by Anna Aspnes. I am not an artsy scrapbooker, but I have been trying to do things a bit differently for the last year or so โ€”whenever the theme allows, not when Halloween. ๐Ÿ˜„
