  1. @Jannette Nieuwboer Are you trying to fill with the selection and the fill tool? If so, that would explain the gaps on the edges. You just need to use a FILL from the Vector Properties dialog window. Next, I don't understand your question about the Bezier curve. Can you phrase it differently?
  2. Gremlins, right? ?
  3. Just to test, do you get the same thing if you open a different image?
  4. How did you get to that dialog window?
  5. Could you make a screenshot of JUST that popup? it would be a little larger on my screen so I can see better.
  6. It is a curved path, with a node and cursor pushing it. I am still wondering that myself!
  7. Make sure the Mode didn't change. Often, if you "miss" the right point, it will change Mode thinking you want to draw some more. Make sure it is still in Edit mode.
  8. This thread will stay open so you can continue to post your assignments in this thread.
  9. Yes, that is correct. Once you set the Picture tube to the scale you want, and maybe the step you want, those are the settings the script will use.
  10. Can you either clear your cache or try a different browser? The links for the videos are from a totally different source so they should no longer be linked to the downloads.
  11. Not really. When the cut is made, they don't stand side by side so the best is to click a little off the middle of the "star" node, hoping you grab the right one. If you grab the wrong one, you can always move it back, close to the other but not overlapping so you can still grab the other node. Although it is a good habit to take, you can see the Convert to path option even without activating the Pen tool.
  12. @Mary Solaas That made sense since it was no longer a vector shape! @Bonnie Ballentine You are catching up! How did I know there would be some pickleballs at some points!? @Dorothy Donn I changed the links to the videos so they will play normally. I am still looking for a permanent solution. @Royanne Hewko You combined that text on path with another technique, the multicolored text! Great result! That Thank you banner looks fantastic! When you will add those effects to a layout, you will see how they will pop out when you add a shadow. @James BradyThose picture tubes can give such great results in the end. I hope you will use that again! @Suzy I wonder if a script can be coded for the CRAC-Paste effect. Hum... @Susan Ewart Nice composition with the letter on the banner. I will answer the questions in a separate post. @Michele Did you increase the step for the Gimp tube? It usually is "tighter" than that. Sequins are so much fun to use. Did you know there is a script to make sequins in the color of your choice? @Jnet AllardIt is funny how I never expected participants to draw the designs on the mugs, but only the outline, yet, many did include the design. You are all going overboard, and I love it! @Corrie Kinkel I love that spiral!!! @Cristina Beautiful initial. Maybe we'll see that in a layout soon? @Sheila Hogg yes, that script is a great time saver. I use it extensively when I create directional tubes too. I would not be able to do it without that script. @Lynda DiGregor I am a bit puzzled how you get that partial outline. Did you move the stroked layer below the text layer? @Natalie Spooner That card is a great way to use those shapes you will be creating! @Deana Davis Glad you are learning something in those lessons. Your results are great. @Anita Wyatt You got it!!! You will catch up! If you dream about vectors, it might mean more practice! @Gerry Landreth Now, you HAVE to go see that movie!! No excuse! For the fringe, if you try with smaller step, the strands will get closer together. @Marvin FojtasekThose two colors (gold and navy blue) go very well together. @rjay segura I am glad to hear that you found some faster or more effective ways to do things with vectors. @Donna Sillia Beware, that script can become addictive! You ended up with fantastic effects in the end! @Theresa Di Cesare You will get there. The lessons will stay available for another week. @Linda J Walker When you have tubes that overlap, be very careful as if you look on the bracelet, the beads on the left side overlap "in the wrong way": the beads further from the viewer appear on top of the nearer ones. Do you see what I mean? It creates a sort of optical illusion. @Leslie Gifford CookThat is a great new logo. And you did it all on your own! @Connie Collier Great assignment. You are getting better and better. Again, I have to say that the results I see posted are fantastic. Keep them coming. They are inspiring everyone else.
  13. Do you have the correct layer active? Occasionally, a different layer gets activated and of course, available commands are different.
  14. Sometimes, simple is just enough to get the message.
  15. This is a fantastic bundle, and for FREE!!!!! Perfect to use in PSP, but also for those who have a cutting machine. Those can make wonderful greeting cards!!!
  16. The zippers also come with a single "closed" version.
  17. Could you clear your cache? I checked and the code SHOULD let you watch. If nothing, watch it logged out for now.
  18. @Mary Solaas Why couldn't you save as a preset? Using Line Style for the stroke gives interesting effect. Beware that the effect will not necessarily show the next time you use that shape because, unless you "Retain style", the shape will be drawn with the settings active at that time, so if the stroke is set to 0 or the line style is set to something else, it won't display the same! So if you reuse the shape later, know why it might not show. @Dorothy Donn You certainly have had fun with those four shapes! @Carolyn RyeIf you clarify where you are stuck, we might be able to point you to any particular detail. It seems like many participants stumble on the same details. @bina greene I am glad things are going more smoothly for you now. @Sharla Even without an image, you can definitely practice and show your work. So far, it looks great! @MicheleI thought I was the only one with gremlins. Maybe they just like to pay everyone a visit! Happy to see you learn more about the Pen tool. It can be quite handy when we tame it. Wonderful results and hopefully you will remember all that! @Cristina I love the effect of those strings. I am actually surprised that NOBODY else had ever made them! @Sheila Hogg I love seeing those different picture tubes used! @Lynda DiGregor Great work. Is it getter easier? @Anja Pelzer Fantastic results. @Susan Ewart Yes, text on path can be so versatile and used in many ways in layouts. @fiona cookI bet those little details in the article will make more sense now than it might have before this workshop. As for turning a shape into a vector, I so wish something was available, but no. You still have to do it manually. There are some convoluted ways to get something close to a path, but not something I would dare trying to explain! @Jnet Allard I am sure you will do well when you do your own shape. @Donna Sillia I am glad this lesson turned out to be more familiar for you. One day to breathe! @Art Kuiper You will catch up pretty soon. Good work. And the more you understand a tool, the easier it gets and you will discover even more possible uses for it. @Gerry LandrethYes, taking a break sometimes help. And you have the coffee for it too! @James Brady What seems to differ between 2022 and 2023? Maybe there is a default setting you can just change in 2023? @Linda J Walker Now that you might have "re-learned" some of those techniques, you will at least have notes to refer to in the future. @Anita Wyatt I am glad to have found a workaround for you. As mentioned, I forwarded my findings to the team. Crossing fingers it will be addressed. @Cindy Lawrence That is the goal of any of these workshops: to get more and more comfortable with the program. I am happy to hear that it works for you. @Marvin FojtasekAlthough it was not specifically part of the assignment, if you ever use something like that IN A PROJECT, you will be able to add a shadow and make that rope really stand out. @rjay segura If you have never used picture tubes before, you are missing a whole world!!!! Maybe I will need to do a workshop just about Picture tubes! ? @sharon thompson Did you try reducing the step for the popcorn tube? That should make them appear closer together. @Royanne Hewko There are two possible explanations for the jaggied edges: (1) Anti-alias was not checked when you drew the shape or (2) you used the Pixel resize when sizing it down (or a combo of both). I am truly thrilled to see all the results you have come up with. I am also very happy to see how many of you overcame some frustration to finally succeed. And as you are getting more and more comfortable with the vectors, and nodes, you will likely be more willing to use them in your future projects. I am looking forward to them. So, tomorrow will be the last lesson of the workshop. But if you have started late or had some delays, don't worry. You should have time to catch up.
  19. I really don't know but I suspect it did, in a way. I am not really sure because it is the first time it happened and the number of downloads is a piece of data that is very deeply hidden in the database (I hate databases). I am inquiring from the plugin owner if there is a "simple" way to access that data so I could display it on each member's account page. Still waiting on him.
  20. You got it with the Step. Unfortunately, there is often a tiny mismatched gap. The best solution is to try by tweaking the step, like instead of 110, try 109. Small tweaks might be enough to make that gap less noticeable. But otherwise, there is no way to get a perfect spacing.
  21. For the DIAMOND members who are having issues with the videos playing, it looks like it is UNEXPECTEDLY linked to the number of downloads. I made a temporary change for now so you should be able to see them. I will look for a more "permanent" solution. @Linda J Walker @Dorothy Donn
  22. I'll let you on a little secret: just use the URL from previous lessons and change the number to 5 or 6 for those lessons! ?
  23. Let's make things a little fun for you. Are you looking for ways to spark your creativity and still create something meaningful? This will be a new monthly challenge for you. Every month, you will be given instructions to use 1, 2, and 3 of something. Would that be more than you usually use? or less? Let's see. Create a layout using : 1 banner 2 Photos 3 papers You can create those elements or use what you currently have in your stash. Showcase any photo, use any template (if you want). Just make sure you include the required elements.
  24. If you give some specifics of what is happening, where your result seems to differ, etc. it will help us help you by pinpointing possible details.
  25. @Susan Ewart Maybe we'll make a design for such a T-Shirt! @Donna SilliaYes, as the larger nodes are easier to SEE, they are not easier to SELECT. You are doing great and it is nice to hear that things are getting a bit easier. I hope the previous lessons also sunk in to help with the future ones. For the hearts on the ellipse, if you used a brush, change the rotation mode to Directional in the Brush Variance palette for the hearts to follow the path (that is just one option you can try). @Leslie Gifford Cook Practice helps but so far, so good! @James Brady A lot of talent, yours included. @Dorothy DonnDid you try to watch the previous videos too? Are they also blacked out? @Connie Collier I am glad you got the zip file in the end. If you needed to REVERSE a second time, maybe it had not reversed in the first place. @Suzy Yes, you can reopen the .pspShape file, tweak it and re-export it. @Corrie KinkelAs the lessons go, practice should make the whole process easier over time. Glad that the lesson 5 was easier. @Jnet Allard Do what you can when you can. Even if you only do the basic practice, and come back later. @Lynda DiGregor You are doing great catching up! @CristinaI am glad that this lesson was easier. Giving you time to breathe a little more. @Art Kuiper Keep it up. Nothing fancy is required. Practice is basic! @Bobby YeaterI was wondering if you had exported that shape with the different colors. Although one can easily use those colors with the "Retain style", it might surprise the user if that checkbox is NOT checked. That's all. @Anita Wyatt Did you get my email? Sometimes, just a quick Zoom call can pinpoint the exact step that is missing or in the wrong order. I have helped a few participants like that with such tiny details that made all the difference between being stuck and getting through the lessons. @Gerry Landreth Great results for your practice. When you are not getting the correct selection, is the correct OBJECT selected? @fiona cook It gives you a better understanding of how the path will affect the text. Did you check that article about moving the text on a path? @Ann Seeber Catch me by email. A quick Zoom might help. @Sheila HoggBeautiful projects! @Linda J WalkerAre the previous videos still playing or are they also blacked out? I have not done anything in the backend, so that is strange. Please, update me tomorrow if the situation changes. @Deana Davis With practice, it might get more automatic with time! @Marvin FojtasekIsn't it annoying with a tiny detail is missing and causes the result to not work? @Lesley Maple Vectors have NOT changed at all since at least version 9. The exact same steps work the exact same way. I wish everyone found the article on the blog about that text in reverse. @sharon thompsonThat is a delicious-looking project! @rjay seguraBeautiful composition. @Cindy Lawrence Great result. You are catching up nicely. Keep those projects coming. I can see that most of you are getting a bit more comfortable with vectors and nodes. Remember that practice is still important. Tomorrow, I expect the lesson will be easier.
