Leslie Gifford Cook Posted January 20, 2021 Share Posted January 20, 2021 Here is my Project 4 - His and Her Flowers Just to be clear, the two on the left are from my husband's garden (black bees), the intarsia on the right is my kind of flower (yellow bees). I think I'm finally getting the hang of the Text tool and I learned a lot about the Magic wand in making the white frames. I had the tolerance set too high in the beginning and I was getting a blotchy edge. Once I lowered it to zero, it covered all of the picture in a nice crisp white edge. I could only Crop a photo and work on the color by hue and saturation before this Bootcamp. I have learned so much! I hear what you are saying about the circle tag, which I did add after I had reduced the size of the overall page and then I had to fiddle endlessly with the shadow, lol! The tag says ... a beautiful eucalypt endemic to south-west of Western Australia. Sometimes I get determined to use a particular element ... a bit of a stubborn trait I'm afraid. I should have just used Arial font instead of trying to be so fancy ... duh! You should have seen what it looked like on the 3600x3600 ... a pinhead no less, lol! As Cassel has pointed out to us endlessly sizing down is fine but increasing can be disastrous! We are all learning and even those of us who have been psping for many, many years can/and do make rookie mistakes ... and that was one of them, lol! Your work is coming ahead in leaps and bounds dear Ann and you bring a sense of humour to everything you do ... if not in the actual page then in your commentary ... I love that. I am very pleased that you are enjoying bootcamp even if it is a little frustrating for you now and then ... we have all been there. I hope you enjoy baby day and who wouldn't with such a gorgeous little man and he sure looks a healthy one to boot. Here is my project # 4; Ballon Ride Adventure. Pictures are mine, I took them doing the balloon ride! is really a fantastic adventure. I created the color papers in PSP. Cassel when I try to do the white frame for whatever reason when I did select one picture, the system tend to select more than the one that I was trying....so what I did is try the selection on each picture till I saw that PSP selected only one, and finally in this way I did all of them, this is new for me, thanks for show us this way to create "frames" Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Clarine, I am glad to hear that you feel more comfortable with all those techniques, shortcuts and ideas. Jacques, and so many people say that older people have no interest in technology! I know that the Campus says otherwise. This layout is a fun story for you to tell: then and now! Leslie, last summer, we were given milkweed plants from town to put in our gardens. We planted them, but no idea what it would attract. Will it populate or will we have to split the plant or what? Maybe I'll have to connect with you on the topic. That deeper shadow, although unusual in general, is very appropriate for that particular element. And adding shadows on a separate layer is always a good idea as it does add the flexibility to tweak it. Mary, layers are SO important in working with graphics that it is the reason why the sandwich exercise is the first one to do. Without an understanding of layers, one would struggle endlessly with PSP. You definitely seem more comfortable now. And to say there is still so much to learn and practice! Great layout on the bugs. Julia, to address your Magic Wand issue, is it possible that the Contiguous box was unchecked? This would select ALL pixels that would match the mode. My project one is a photo of my wife and daughter on a dog sled in Alaska. I cannot say I achieve my goal of showing the both on a dog sled. mike enriquez Posted January 21, 2021 Share Posted January 21, 2021 In my project 3 I was not able to get the materials pallet uploaded. When I went to bring in the "glitter" everything came in. I see that the exercise in moving the glitter via the materials has lot and mean lots of potential. I made 2 trips to indochina and wrote a book about it. The image in the middle is of a very nice man in Tibet. The image on the left was taken in a city of 33 million people. The image on the right was taken in Shanghai China. I went outside and took a picture of a plant because I could not find paper that I liked but I found the plant. I wish I had given the flowers a deeper drop shadow. Ann Seeber Posted January 21, 2021 Share Posted January 21, 2021 I've had this in the back of my mind to do for awhile: a tribute to my granddaughter Anna Lee who is On the Front Lines in the fight against Covid-19. Though she's a Speech Language Pathologist, she's also doing double duty in the Intensive Care division because her hospital in California is overwhelmed. Anna is married to a software engineer who works for Google. I got a kit called BC-Emergency Hospital and though a lot of the pieces were pretty lame (the papers are only 800px) I don't think I would have been able to do this without it. Leslie Gifford Cook Posted January 21, 2021 Share Posted January 21, 2021 Hi everyone, Here is my 5th project. It was lots of fun because it seemed to bring a lot of features together. I did struggle with it because my laptop seemed to have slowed down quite a bit. I thought I had figured out why, but I'm not sure. In the end it just took longer to finish the project. I did not copy my text into the text selection box I typed it and it created only a Vector layer so when I saved it as a jpg the text was tiny and up in the corner. Once I copied the layer and converted it I was able to resize it and put it back in the white area beside the picture of the woodpecker. Easy fix once you know what is happening. Cassel - In answer to your question above regarding milkweed - I had to check with my husband, but it should propagate by spreading seeds. I have enjoyed immensely everyone's creations. And I want to give all of you a big thank you for the encouraging words and helpful hints. And to Miss Carole, I bow down to you for all that you have taught us in just a few days. It's so exciting to finally know how to use some functions in PSP. And guess what? I finally got a kit to download and as you can see I had fun using it. (A different web browser did the trick.) I decided to do this last project in honor of my sister Nettie. Knowing I love to take pics of eagles, she took me on one last road trip to a park known for eagle watching. Several months later, during her last breaths on this earth I told her "Soar with the eagles Baby Sister." And by the way, where did you get those fancy enamel elements? They are beautiful. Are painted rocks a thing in your area? I thought it was local here only! Mike, you posted the images at the correct location! On your sleigh projects, if you were to add shadows, it would likely define the different elements and photos even more. For the Glitters pattern, did you have the pattern image open in your workspace? If so, it was probably in the list of patterns among all the other images but it does not necessarily show as glitters in the thumbnail. Just notice the image name to retrieve it in the Materials palette. Jennifer, beautiful page. Is that the same girl on all three photos? In the fifth project, it is a great idea to alternate solid and striped squares! Ann S, say hi to your granddaughter, from a fellow S-LP :) I love how you replaced the i by a needle! Leslie, you did a great job in using a larger shadow on the leaves. About the milkweed, what about the attract the butterflies? Do they feed on them? Do they cocoon on them? Clarine, I am glad you are getting more comfortable with the many functions of PaintShop Pro. There is so much more we can do than "just" fix and crop photos! Sorry for the loss of your baby sister. Cindy, yeah, you love to use those scripts! If i could give you a suggestion, maybe try to avoid placing "thick" elements (like that big paper clip) close to the edge and have it cut. I would say that 90% of the time using those short cuts did not work on the first time. I must have something else holding up the commands. Any other idea on what I can try? I appreciate you.
