They said nothing about that in the mail and I find it strange I have to do so as they explicitly said to use the given password. Had you already made an account?  I got a password in this format AAAA-AAAA-AAAA-AAAA and I typed everything in including the hyphens. Now I'm wondering should I have done that? Normally when I have to use let's say my creditcard number that also has whole lot of numbers and while adding that I get them automatically separated. Is that the  case here? Have you already installed it? Please let me know how you did it and if you got the 90 days trial as Jacques only got 7 days. Hopefully I hear from their supportdesk soon; otherwise Carol can contact the lady that organized this for us on Monday.

I already had an account with them (from 2020), so I didn't have to create one. I have not downloaded the trial yet, but it is my understanding that you need to have an account with them, the same as we do for Microsoft, or Apple, or Google, etc. to get the full service.

Your account will be your email and a password not the same as the code they sent to you. I will be trying either later today or tomorrow .

@Julie, @Carole

Before going to bed, I did a google search because I nowhere can find a page to create an account  and I learned that during the proces of buying a product they will make an account for me.  So I'm going in circles and I'm thinking what will happen if I go further and buy the product, should I pay and then get 90 days or just the ordinary 7 days. If I do so do I get my money back if I don't want to go on using Affinity. How does this work, I find it all a bit complicated and hope Carole will be able to help me out.

Here is my suggestion. Go to the main page and scroll almost to the bottom, until you get to the offer for all the apps to purchase. Just under that, there is a Try for free link. There, you can choose "New to Affinity?" or "Existing customer". Since I already sent your contact information, see if you can use "Existing customer". Does it let you in?

Oh man, this is what I'm worried about, as I do not have an account either.  I am waiting to hear how to do it as well.

You didn't get the instructions by email?

Yes and it was most confusing.  First email said to reset my password.  Well, I never had an account and never had a password to reset.  2nd email gave me an activation code.  3rd email was my order confirmation.  I tried the order number as a password the activation key as a password.  Everything says it's incorrect.  I read through the help and account section and didnt find away to make an account.  These emails sound like they've made an account for me already but didnt give me the password to it.  It's after midnight so I'll try again tomorrow.  I did try and fool it by "forgetting" my password, it didnt work either.

My first email also asked me to reset the password, so I took it as how Affinity had for me to create an account with them.
I clicked the link, and it took me to a page with my name, email address, and a field to reset the password.
I did that and received the confirmation by email that the password was updated.

There were 4 options for Windows to download the app.  At first, I was confused about which one to use as there were "2 exe files" and "2 msix files". So, I contacted Carole, and she explained the arm64 files were probably for tablets.

I haven’t installed it yet, and will probably do it late today or tomorrow.

Many thanks for providing us with the opportunity to learn to use Affinity Photo. Whilst I'm sad that Paintshop Pro will no longer be updated I'm am looking forward to learning to use a new program.

OK, so I just now downloaded the Affinity Photo2 for Windows. Before I could activate the trial, I had to SIGN IN to my Affinity account. It IS a 7-day trial, but perhaps that will change soon or maybe that's just the message we get for the trial version and it will actually last 90 days....?

Did you get an email from Affinity about the process? Maybe she has not yet upgraded your account?

I am sorry it is so convoluted. I guess Affinity does not offer this type of deal often and don't have a straightforward process for it.

I have been given this problem some thought and I think the problem is that the lady which Carole spoke with is under the impression that we all already have an Affinity account. Some of us have that account, I on the other hand haven't. The mails that we got have an order confirmation that has a download button. If I click on that button I get a box where I have to sign in on my account. That does not work because I don't have an account with a password for it. Their website doesn't have the option to create an account. So I did some searching and apparently Affinity will make an account for me during the proces of buying their program, hence the option in one of the mails to reset my password. Now I'm wondering: if I go through the normal proces of buying Affinity Photo I probably override the order confirmation with those all important 90 days and it also stated that the order was placed for me by the Affinity Team! Furthermore I have sent an email to their support desk as suggested by Carole, so far I didn't got an answer.

This is the best description of what has happened so far, that I am able to give. Maybe this will clarify to others what is going on and maybe it gives Carole a better idea of the problem we are having.

I will not do anything yet and wait until tomorrow when Carole hopefully has had contact with the Affinity lady and we know better what to do.

What I find interesting is that I was able to download & activate the trial version WITHOUT using the activation password they sent to me. Once I logged in to my account at AFF there was no request to enter that code. Perhaps that's why I got a 7-day trial.

I rechecked what I downloaded and it said "90 day trial", but when I open the app it still says 7 days. This problem is definitely at their end.

No that didn't work either, because they want me to sign in with my ID and password.

Besides this every time I go to the website I get the German website, they probably don't have a Dutch version, which is fine by me I want the English version anyhow. Now I wonder if I indeed get the German one, will I be able to change languages because on their website I couldn't. Carole do you have the option inside your affinity to switch a language?

Yes, you can choose a different language when you install it.

It is slowly becoming some sort of slapstick 🤣 and I'm not very impressed by Affinity 😕 as a read all the comments so far. I truly hope the program itself will be worth it despite all the problems.

I'm having the exact same problems as you are Corrie.  I was trying after midnight (and after building 65 wedding cards - part one of the build and 1.5 days of work on it) so perhaps my patience level was not at it's highest.  I thought (of course after I went to bed and woke up in the night) and that I was supposed to do a trail version to get an account, then go through the links in the emails to set up the 90 day one hopefully.  it's getting too confusing to think about right now.

I will definitely send her an email today about all the challenges you are all facing. Hopefully, she will address that early tomorrow for everyone to catch up.

I think it might be because I was negotiating something they don't normally do, so they didn't really have a process in place for it. She wanted to give something that their system might not have been set up to handle seamlessly. She is the Senior Account Manager, but some things might clash with the technical setup. Who knows? Maybe they will set something easier in the future.

I have thought about that too, but some of us like Ann had already installed the 7 days trial and were instructed to remove it from their pc before activating the 90 days. So now I'm wondering should I go that way and install the 7 day free trial, which probably will give  me an account, then remove the program and install again with the download button if my account isn't removed when I uninstall the trial version that is. Maybe I'll give it a try................ Will let you know, maybe at the Q&A later today.

@Susan EwartI have tried to go with the option for a new customer for the trial version and when I enter my ID (email address) they say I already have an account and ask me for my password and when I click the option to reset my password I have to enter my existing password, which I don't have. Still going round in circles and now I'm done with this for today and wait if Carole can explain our problem to the Affinity Account Manager. I'm sure in the end there will be a solution and we will laugh about all the turmoil. Now I'm going to cook dinner and see you all later today.

Not to worry, I think we will all get there in the end.  And like you say, they might find a more seamless way, especially since you will be doing bootcamps for their product.

I tried to install the app but also got the 7-day trial page.

So, I'll wait for further information. There are always glitches at the beginning of anything new.

I experimented with Affinity for the first time in order to resize this photo for this forum. The first version came out as an .afphoto so I guess that's the default.  A little tricky; I ended up using File/Export to create a .jpg. Here's Ed Frampton's thistle...
