Mary Solaas Posted January 7 Posted January 7 (edited) Well, at 90, it would divide up into 7-1/2 years. I have 2 pages in 8.5 x 11 format that I created to fit on my physical album I made for my years up to the time I married in 1957. I will post the 1st 2 pages here that I created in PSP. The balance of the years are in my physical album which I will do something with later to be part of this challenge. These 2 pages are my birth in Newark, NJ to the time we left NJ in 1942. So that covers the 1st divide! Edited January 7 by Mary Solaas 1 6

I have all my parents and some of my grandparents photos (since I was a teenager - when I should have asked my parents about who is who and where is that in the photos). It's so amazing that you have such details about your life. Did you start to chronical your timeline early in life or later? I wonder if there is hope for me, because I have zero time to do it now, it will have to wait until retirement. I am lucky my cousin made a book (hardcover) of my mom's side of the family. 2 1

I wonder if there is hope for me, because I have zero time to do it now, it will have to wait until retirement. I am lucky my cousin made a book (hardcover) of my mom's side of the family. I started documentation when I started taking photos on a box camera that my mother bought for me when I was probably in the fifth grade or maybe the sixth grade. Anyway, it was the wonderful old black and white photos that last longer than the early color photos. My mother also used to document photos that she had in her photo album. My grandparents on my dad's side also used to document photos and they took a lot of them and kept them in albums. My aunt (my mother's sister) also used to document the happenings in her small town with both photos and newspaper clippings in scrapbooks. When my cousin (her daughter) who inherited the history scrapbooks was going to throw them away, I told her NO - I would come up and document by scanning in the items she would like to keep (and the ones I wanted also) and then put them in an album for her - she was to take those history scrapbooks (they were not in good condition since they dated from about 1919 to 1952 or later) and give them to the Bessemer City Library. She didn't really want to do that, but she did. She received some notices from the Library later on that they had been so appreciated by the library and some of the people who had looked at them. I made all the scans plus some old pictures of family that she had (which I had scanned) into a 2 volume set (I actually made 2 sets - 1 for me) and gave a set to her the following year. That year was a Savera/Bott Reunion that I had arranged with my people here in Memphis to take place in Bessemer MI. The family members came from many different states. They all looked at the set I had on display and were so pleased to see photographs that they recognized but no longer had. 3

It's impressive that so many people in your family documented your lives. I will enjoy reading this forum. 1 2

Mary that is fantastic and genealogy researchers love such documents because of the wealth of data in them! 2 1
Corrie Kinkel Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I have already told a lot about my life in the AAM series and I will combine those with the layouts for this Time Line and in the end will make a printed album. I don't want to repeat the stories that I have already told, for instance I did in the AAM a page about the city where I was born, therefore n the time line I just mention where I was born but don't elaborate on it. I will roughly use a period of 6 years but to the end it probably will be 7. In the years I was born the parent didn't know if they would have a boy or a girl and therefore the first set of baby attire were mostly white, but for my layout I choose pink and red which has been my favorite color for many years. If I was allowed to choose the color it was always red. I use a bow and sticker by Jessica Dunn, the teddy is by Angelhaze and the doll sticker is by Janet Kemp. The cup is an extraction from the photo I took today. The fonts are Algerian and Arial and I my starting point for this layout was Lab 6-07 because the sizes of my old photos fitted nicely. I had some cleaning up to do on the photos, haze removal did its work and the scratch remover too. 6

I got goosebumps when you said you took photo's of the cup that day and it's the same one that your were drinking out of at 18 months old. My husband has a cup similar (his parents were from Denmark). I don't think I have much from when I was a baby. Too many moves to different cities and stuff seems to disappear. I remember a little grey tiger stuffy that I loved. I petted the fur right off it. I wish I still had it. Edited January 11 by Susan Ewart 2

I remember a little grey tiger stuffy that I loved. I petted the fur right off it. I wish I still had it. It was the custom in a lot of families to give a cup and matching cutlery as a present when a child was born. A silver rattle was another one, but I think I never had one. I also got a porcelain plate but my mom didn't trust me with it and I think at some point it was broken. The cup is the only surviving object from my early childhood. Of course I had some stuffy things, I seem to remember a little sheep, but I was never very attached to things. 3
