Cassel Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 Have you ever made an ALPHABET album? It is a fun way to showcase photos or stories, but with an added twist. I have created an alphabet album in the past, where each page had a title (and a topic) starting with one letter of the alphabet. Then, the pages were placed in alphabetical order, even if not in chronological order. So, for 2022, I am suggesting this long-term challenge for you. With one page every 2 weeks, we will be able to finish the year with a complete album. It is up to you to decide if you want to print it or share it otherwise. I will share my own pages, just for ideas, but I will also give you some more words that will start with the letter of the week. Try to think of one overarching theme to use. It could be about your last vacation, a family gathering, a hobby of yours, a location, etc. Think of something that you have lots of photos of or many words you can associate with. If you have not started yet and want to jump in, no problem. You know the alphabet so you know what letters you will have to do and you still have many months to catch up on those few pages, so don't hesitate. There is also no deadline, so if this week's page is done only next month, it is totally fine too. So here is my O layout. Of course, you can use words in your own language too. As you can see, this album was done in French. Here are some other words that could be used as title/theme: Oasis, Objective, Observe, OK, Open, Optimism, Option, Orchestra, Order, Organic, Original, Outside, Outdoors, Outlast, Outstanding, Ovation, Ordinary, Obvious, Octogon, Occasion, Odd, Official, Old, Olympic, Operation, Opposite, Orange, Other, Ocean, Oil, Only, One, Oak, Onion, Olive, Oven, Owl, and many more. What will your O layout be?
Ann Seeber Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 Carole/Cassel: That looks like a totally different layout size compared to our earlier pages. I was working in 2550px x 3300px so I could print at 8.5" x 11" portrait aspect.
Rene Marker Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 O is for Ohio. The state I have lived in my whole life.
Corrie Kinkel Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 My letter O stands for "Odekerkpark", a parc in the centre of Etten and named after Mayor Odekerk (1960 -1976) who played an important role in the development of the village. It has 2 statues: "De Evolutie" (The evolution) which symbolizes the quick growth after worldwar two and "De uitvliegende vogel" (The bird leaving the nest) and it is a phenix leaving its stylised nest of branches. In my templates I didn't have one I liked for this letter but I had an illustration of a template with a rather thick passe-partout that I liked. So tried my hand at making my own. The rest is in keeping with my alphabet.
Corrie Kinkel Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 Bonnie, thank you! After some trial and error I think I got it right, so your comment is a relieve!
Ann Seeber Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 Corrie: Wow, that's impressive. Very different style of framing/matting. Is the term "passe-partout" used for the matting? (Google was not very helpful.) I like the look of your whole page symbolizing the letter "O"!
Corrie Kinkel Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 Ann a passe-partout is used when you frame a photo. It comes between the photo and the glass and can be of very thick paper or thin cardboard and I used it here as a frame on my photos because I liked the effect it gives. The beige paper is cut out around the photos. I thought that passe-partout was used in English too, maybe not in American-English.
Jannette Nieuwboer Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Corrie, your works are wonderfully done. My compliments. My O is for the omelet. Such a good international name. It was a rehearsal about what was new to me in the last Boot camp. Did it again, I have to watch videos more than one. it was not all in my head.
Bonnie Ballentine Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 I am way late but that is OK...I got it done. I do not enjoy journaling and as you can see, this is mostly journaling. It took me forever to be happy with my stories. 2 page layout...left side
Corrie Kinkel Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Ladies thank you very much; I love the template I did myself and I will probable use it again in a different project. Bonnie you did a fantastic job with those stories, you already have done a training for the upcoming Workshop on journaling!
Bonnie Ballentine Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Corrie, I love your template! Great job! Thank you for your comment on my O pages...it was a struggle! I am pleased with the result.
