Alphabet Album - L

Have you ever made an ALPHABET album? It is a fun way to showcase photos or stories, but with an added twist.

I have created an alphabet album in the past, where each page had a title (and a topic) starting with one letter of the alphabet. Then, the pages were placed in alphabetical order, even if not in chronological order. So, for 2022, I am suggesting this long-term challenge for you. With one page every 2 weeks, we will be able to finish the year with a complete album. It is up to you to decide if you want to print it or share it otherwise.

I will share my own pages, just for ideas, but I will also give you some more words that will start with the letter of the week. Try to think of one overarching theme to use. It could be about your last vacation, a family gathering, a hobby of yours, a location, etc. Think of something that you have lots of photos of or many words you can associate with.

If you have not started yet and want to jump in, no problem. You know the alphabet so you know what letters you will have to do and you still have many months to catch up on those few pages, so don't hesitate. There is also no deadline, so if this week's page is done only next month, it is totally fine too.

So here is my L layout.

Of course, you can use words in your own language too. As you can see, this album was done in French.

Here are some other words that could be used as title/theme:

Lady, Landmark, Last, Laugh, Love, Leader, Legend, Leadership, Learn, Life, Light, Like, Lion, Loyal, Luck, Luxurious, Labour, Large, Legend, Local, Lotto, Loud, Lousy, Lace, Ladder, Lavender, Lazy, Limp, Labyrinth, Leather, Leap, Leg, Lens, lesson, Library, Load, Lord, Land, Leave, Lecture, Lock, Loose, and many more.

What will your L layout be?

L is for Library. Being the county seat, the county library main branch is in my town. There are smaller branches in a few other towns but all are run by the county out of the main branch. Also, a little history. The site where the building is located is across the street from the county courthouse. And, at one time, a church was located on this site. My church. I was baptized in that church. The current church building was built in the early 1960's and the old building was torn down and the library was built in 1967 and opened in 1968. The library had previously been located beside the former high school several blocks away. In 2018 for the 50th anniversary of the building, major renovations were done to the building, both inside and out.

In my village was on the 27th of June 1909 the first take off and landing of a flying machine (Wright Flyer) in the Netherlands! It took only 6 minutes for 1 km on a maximum height of 15 m. The location was the "Klappenbergse Heide" and there was a crowd of ca 30.000 to 40.000 spectators from all over the country and beyond. On the spot where it all happened is now an obelisk (gedenknaald) and an information plaquette. On a roundabout is a replica of the Wright Flyer on a pilar. It was the start of aviation in my country.

My layout is very simple: the background is a photo of a nice blue sky with a lot of blur. I took a couple of sky photos some time ago for use when needed. The title "Luchtvaart" means aviation.
