Cassel Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 Do you have a horse? Do you ride horses? Does your child or grandchild have a rocking horse? Or do you spend time at horse shows or other equine events? It is time to showcase those photos and stories. I am sure you will have stories to tell! Let's go!
Corrie Kinkel Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 Sorry no horses, this is probably a great theme for Sue Thomas!!! I look forward to her layouts.
Guest Guest Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 I love horses. I've never owned - I didn't even ride but that doesn’t stop me from taking a photo :)
Sue Thomas Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 I used the Lab 10-2 template. I've used it on other occasions too. It's a layout I like very much. Over the years to many horses to count have passed through my charge. On the 18th April I lost my bother-in-law to cancer, and then on the 8th May we said goodbye to Hadley. A pony that made my daughter the rider she is today. We used to call him Had the bad, not that he was nasty or naughty but he had such character. My girls Meg and Nell are now 20 and 10 yrs old, and I trust them to look after me, now that I'm getting older. I can't imagine life without horses in my life.
Susan Ewart Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 Sue, that is beautiful and heartfelt. I love the quote at the bottom. So sorry for your recent losses.
Sue Thomas Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 Thank you very much Susan for your kind sentiment. It always pulls at the heart strings when you loose someone, especially a four legged member of the family, of so many years. They always leave a huge gap in our lives.
Susan Ewart Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 Very well said Sue. Even years later you can visualize their huge personalities. I marvel at the fact of how we can mange to communicate with our animal family and can "see" how they are feeling and you sure know when they are "off". Still, when they are gone, I miss them terribly. I've worked/lived on several horse breeding farms in the very distant past (in BC) and they have wildly different personalities than each other and it's a marvel to learn that and interact with them based on their personality. I have loved horses all my life and that quote at the bottom really hit home. When my company is gone I might dig out my albums and see if there is anything worthy of a layout (mostly I shot slides back then).
Corrie Kinkel Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 Sue I'm sorry for your losses, human and horse alike! Your page is as always very special and a great tribute to the relation you have with your horses. For a citygirl like me it is a life that is far from my own life, although there have been animals of a much smaller kind.
Sue Thomas Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 Thank you for that Corrie, your words are much appreciated. It's been a difficult 6wks or so. It doesn't matter what your four legged member of the family is, big or small, the impact it has on loosing them, is the same. Trying to console Rachael as well. I had to say goodbye to my first pony over 30 yrs ago. Blue Boy was my whole childhood and taught Rachael to ride. To this day I still well up when he pops into my mind. So I know exactly what Rachael is going through. Again, thank you for the kind words.
Anne Lamp Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Here is one I created using a photo I took of my girl friend and her horse. It brings back great memories from many years ago. The small horse club we belonged to had horse shoes and gymkhanas a couple of times a year. Those costume classes were a blast. This makes me want to go back to try to find more photos from then, if I can even find where I stored them.
Ann Seeber Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 Guess who got a "horse" for her birthday! Just in time for this theme. Thanks for the rusted elements, Carole!
Ann Seeber Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 I couldn't pass up a chance to showcase my favorite wine - 14 Hands Cabernet. It's grown and vinted in the State of Washington. There's a lengthy history of the wine so I made a separate image with just the text in case the reduced design is too small. I created the wine bottle line art myself using selections. I got most of my info from this site.
