I have done several of these, this is the first Summer Subway art I’ve done.
Posted in the wrong section. OOOOPPPPPS!
This afternoon, I was graced with the presence of this beautiful Tiger Swallowtail butterfly. For the first time in many years, my Lilac hedge is plastered with gorgeous, perfumed flowers. I will use this framed image in a page, probably with an appropriate quote. Oh yeah, I was also in a framing mood. 🙂
I was in a wordart mood this evening. A pleasant surprise first thing this morning. The ducklings took to the water. The colours were phenomenal. I matched the leaves, tag and the frame to the golden brown of the water, and ducklings, which meant I had to go with a dark plain background paper, to enhance the elements. I created the tag from a similar flat tag I saw on the telly. I used the selection tool within the text tool bar, to cut out the word Summer 2022. I certainly captured the moment.
Martingale. Running martingale or standing martingale. An artificial aid to lower a horse’s head.
Thank you Ann, that is so sweet of you. I don’t and never have taken anything for granted. I’m thankful that, touch wood, I’m in good health, but not quite as agile as I once was. Nature is all around us no matter where we live, as nature has learnt to co exist with us humans. I’m so pleased you have an abundance of song birds on your doorstep that gives you such pleasure. Which you showcase so beautifully.
Suzy, Susan, here is the link to the fancy fonts.
Suzy, here is an example of some of my subway art. All fonts. I retain everything as a font, which makes it very easy to edit. Stretch, widen, shrink, you can do whatever you want with a font, and it will not become distorted, within reason anyway.
Thank you for that Corrie, your words are much appreciated. It’s been a difficult 6wks or so. It doesn’t matter what your four legged member of the family is, big or small, the impact it has on loosing them, is the same. Trying to console Rachael as well. I had to say goodbye to my first pony over 30 yrs ago. Blue Boy was my whole childhood and taught Rachael to ride. To this day I still well up when he pops into my mind. So I know exactly what Rachael is going through. Again, thank you for the kind words.
Suzy, thank you. I have several fonts in my font arsenal that I use over and over in my word art projects. Once I have a layout in mind, they don’t take me long to create. The name of the font is Hitachi. You will also find in the blog, a tutorial called “using fancy fonts”. Type the title in the search bar, and it will pop up. It’s free to download the pdf.
Which will help you through the basics of using glyphs and swashes. I used the same font in my latest project, posted in the forum. June word challenge. I pride myself on creating as much as I can using all the techniques I have learnt. Each page I create gives me a sense of achievement. As does schooling and training horses.I must admit, I didn’t know that this script existed. I thoroughly enjoy creating my own word/subway art. Just think of the amount of time I would have saved myself, had I have used this script.
I forgot to post this last night. It was way past my bedtime, and I was rather tired. The photos are from last year. The delightful Silvery Blue Butterfly was taken yesterday. We are privileged to live on such a beautiful, diverse planet, which Mother Nature has perfected over many billions of years. Why waste it “tied to the kitchen sink” 🙂 I used a selection from the butterfly photo to create the background paper. My usual style of word art, and an embroidered edge I created, depicting the circles on the butterfly. The camera element I got from the internet.
Thank you very much Susan for your kind sentiment. It always pulls at the heart strings when you loose someone, especially a four legged member of the family, of so many years. They always leave a huge gap in our lives.
I used the Lab 10-2 template. I’ve used it on other occasions too. It’s a layout I like very much. Over the years to many horses to count have passed through my charge. On the 18th April I lost my bother-in-law to cancer, and then on the 8th May we said goodbye to Hadley. A pony that made my daughter the rider she is today. We used to call him Had the bad, not that he was nasty or naughty but he had such character. My girls Meg and Nell are now 20 and 10 yrs old, and I trust them to look after me, now that I’m getting older. I can’t imagine life without horses in my life.
Yes Ann, they winter here, during the long cold winter months, they dine on a variety of berries, choke cherries, crab apples, buffalo berries, also Saskatoon berries.
Corrie, a beautiful page, very well thought out. You are right, we did have a numbers challenge Last Sept. Time slips by so quickly these days. Pirkko, your duck page is adorable, there’s something very maternal and caring about watching ducklings keeping with their parents as they glide through the water.
Corrie, Cristina, Libera and last but by no means least Susan, thank you all very much for your kind comments. Libera, so wonderful to see you make an appearance, it’s been a while, and you have been missed. Cristina, by dear friend, you always say the kindest of words, and I hope you don’t look to closely, as I’m sure there must be some details, that are not quite right. 🙂
Aren’t we a wonderful group, as we all enjoy and appreciate the great outdoors, and everything that it has to offer. Which goes hand in hand with the projects we create using PSP.
As I would say in Welsh, cwtches i chi gyd (hugs to you all)
Thank you ladies for your very kind words, I always, very much appreciate them , especially when those comments are directed to my photography.
When I came for a bite to eat at lunchtime today, it occurred me, that I can use brushes, or tubes to create these frame. So while eating I came up with this. I used one of Carole’s bead tubes. This evening I will do another one using her new Two tone font. Time now to go back outside.
Thank you Ann. Yes, the butterflies at the bottom are a font. There are two extras included in the font. Which you will have to access via character map or it’s equivalent. The font is called My Butterfly, unfortunately I can’t remember where I got it from, as I have had it a long time. You would have seen them used in many of my previous pages over the years. The one merged with frame is also a font. Rather than keep referring to the fonts themselves. I have pages of PSP files of bees, butterflies and other font categories, making choosing easier, and quicker access. If I need to use the font itself, by selecting the vector it will tell me the name of the font, on the top toolbar. It saves a lot time searching for the font I want.
Lynda, I will head over to the contest, and click the love button on your entries. I entered on the 26th May. For some reason I could only add one link at a time.
Here is another one, I used an inner bevel on this one.
I have no doubt at all in my mind, that Carole’s word frame script 5 would have created what I did in a fraction of the time it took me. Saying that it didn’t take me long. 🙂 I used the rectangle vector tool, and the pen tool, duplicated, mirrored vertical. Added the text. Using the rectangle tool, you have the option to change the corner design, which is a function I like.
Good morning, I would like you to meet two of my summer friends. Gerry is quite the character, when I call, and place some monkey nuts on a tray, he comes. He tolerates my presence as I sit and watch him dine, not to far away, it gives me the opportunity to get some nice close up shots of him. The same goes for Ollie, he’s the only Oriole, that will come as soon as I have replenished the oranges with fresh ones, again he to tolerates my presence, whilst I take close up shots of him.
I used 5 photos, 5 frames, and out of bounds technique 5 times. It was an after thought, that I realized, that I used a technique, and not an element 5 times, so I created the beads, 2×5 of them. The last time we had a numbers challenge, was several years ago. The challenge was to use 1 similar element 12 times in a page.
Of course the quality of the photos have been degraded, due to the drastic resizing down.
Susan, thank you. I have 2 pairs of Barn Swallows nesting in the stable, and another pair nesting above the door of the tack room.
I started off with the intention of using Mrs Swallow in the Bingo challenge, I created the admission ticket, ticked it of the list, only to go down a completely different path. This is the result.
Susan, a lovely QP of the Robin taking a bath. My bird baths have been out and used a lot by all the birds arriving for some 6 weeks or so. A present I have 5 baths out . If its going to freeze I will empty them just after dark. From when the first Robin arrived, each one a different size and depth to cater for the smallest to the largest of birds. The depth of a bird bath will determine which birds will use which bath. The shy birds like their baths on the ground, under a canopy of foliage. Many of my Robins will take a drink/ bath, and then hop to the feeder for a blueberry or two. They have become quite predictable. One thing I don’t do is put out heated watering bowls during the winter, as birds have been know to bath, and then freeze their feet to metal. They are quite adapted to eating snow.
Ah right, I understand now, so the long part holds the photo in place or can be swiveled away from the photo, to easily remove the photo, avoiding any damage to the photo. Cool! I have never seen them used. Thank you. I even Googled them, and came up blank.
