Many years ago when I first had PSP 7 and was learning how to use layers, I had a website called, “Thru My Cottage Window I See…” and I made a banner something like the cottage window shown below.  The original is long gone, lost in an early hard drive crash from before I learned to back everything up.  I’ve done my best to replicate that image using an image that was very like the early one.  Using my selection tool I erased the original view shown in the window and saved the image-less window as a .pfr file that, unfortunately, will not display here.  I also saved the bare window as a tube (although a rather large one) which I do not believe will show here either, so you if you will imagine the window with the view transparent where you can add any image you’d like to see beyond your desk in the early morning as you write your letters to family and friends just by adding an image as a separate layer, resizing appropriately, sending to the bottom and then merging visibly. Ive shown both a cottage and a seaside view, I hope you like them.

If anyone would like a copy of the tube or .psp file just let me know.

Thank you, Anne that was very sweet of you, compliments from one of the most talented members are especially appreciated.  I really love this campus, everyone in the group is supportive and makes us feel like true virtual friends.

LOL! Oh Anne, I could live forever in that little doll cottage, that was always my dream as a child; with a dutch door and open windows allowing the sheer curtains to billow as I sat at my little table sipping tea from a lovely rose china cup.  Thanks for the memory!  Great looking family, BTW.

Christina, thank you, that makes me feel better, I do feel guilty that I don’t share in the fabulous spreads I see here, but I sure do enjoy seeing them and appreciate your skills.

Really cool, Annie.  I’ve noticed this special group of regulars is really getting quite proficient. Congratulations on presenting such gorgeous work.  Cassell is a great teacher, isn’t she?

Linda, I just fell in love with your ribbon wrapped coneflower, so beautiful!  I would love to see that script in action, I bet it is fascinating to watch.

                    HELLO! HELLO!

Diana Craft here, It’s been a long time since I’ve posted and I have missed you all tremendously and although I haven’t posted often I stop in quite often to soak up all your creative juices and marvel at your accomplishments, you have brought me great joy.  It’s been so long in  fact that a lot of you won’t have a glue as to who I am, sometimes I wonder myself? (S)  I love Cassell, I love PSP and please don’t hate me but I don’t do a LOT of scrap-booking. I was into it very heavily several years ago but I keep being tempted off the path by every pretty flower and wander into all sorts of other things creative.  I must warn you that this is going to be rambling down that lane ,so if you get bored and want to wander yourself, feel free.

I have uploaded a lot of pics of the main things that has been keeping me away from the campus this year and although they don’t involve scrap-booking, they definitely involve PSP.  I use it a lot, and I print a lot, more than my poor husband would ever dream.  I do most of my designing with printouts that involve altering sweatshirts for my personal use at the moment.  I find an image I like and then, as I am sure you are all familiar with, the juices just start to flow.  I don’t care much for machine sewing so I do almost all of my stitching by hand.  So, trying not to go on toooooo long I will get onto showing and explaining my jackets.

The first two photos are of my appliqued rose that I found at http://www.photoshop-kopona.com where I  get a lot of beautiful free graphics.  Taking it into PSP I selected and divided all the individual elements and made them into tubes, then printed them out to the scale I wanted and cut templates for each piece from Freezer Paper and ironed them onto my chosen fabric from my stash as close to the original coloring of the rose, not always as close as I would have liked but “One does, what one must!”, as THEY say. (Chuckle)  I don’t applique in the usual manner, that ability doesn’t seem to reside in my nature. I press the freezer paper to the top (the right) side of the pattern piece, the opposite of the usual method, that I was fortunate enough to find in Janet Pittman’s wonderful book, “Applique made Simple, The basics and beyond”.  It seemed all wrong at first but now I wouldn’t do it any other way,

The rose is my favorite subject to work with, I never tire of doing them in a variety of media. This bloom was done to reside on my bed cover so I see it the first thing every morning and I can be very pleased with what I had accomplished all by myself, she adds smugly! The sweatshirts shown next are something new for me, I’ve never liked sweatshirts for myself, my shape wasn’t made for them to be attractive. (Round is a shape, isn’t it?)

My first converted sweatshirt was the burgundy decorated  with pansies.  The black is roses, ribbons a cross-stitched design of Victorian ladies hands, copied from a Victorian piece of ephemera in my collection of calling cards collected over the years of thrift’in.    Calling cards were my first introduction to antiques because when the babies were little  and having only $3 dollars to spend on myself, I found that at that time I could get a lot of little treasures for only 5 cents each, and I went home happy as a lark.

Well, I’ve gone on quite enough, you can see the other jacket for yourself and if there i anything you want to know more about, just post.  I will be back! I will see/hear some of you Sunday at Cassell”s performance art.  Hugs,

Diana, I sure hope I haven’t over-stayed my welcome.   BYE now!

“WALK ON BY”, I chose this song that reminded me of my younger days when I finally got the gumption to say this to a loser boyfriend, if only more girls could. “When you see me walking down the street, walk on by!”

Hello my friends, I’ve been gone so long and am so far behind because I have been having terrible computer problems and I don’t see how I am ever going to catch up.  Carole, at least I found why I have been having so much trouble signing in, it was not only my keyboard but my mouse too, which isn’t surprising since I bought them together years ago.  I went on Amazon and bought a combo wireless keyboard and mouse, which I just love, unfortunately,  I encountered a catastrophic error and got the dreaded blue screen and got locked out of my computer, it has taken me days to get everything back.

I’m so far behind I’m not even going to try to catch up for this round, I’ve just been practicing in some of the areas that are giving me a problem. This is a page I’ve wanted to highlight for a long time. This is our first grandson, when my daughter left an abusive marriage they moved in with us for over a year and he did everything my husband did, even reading the newspaper with his Grampa every day while Bill drank his morning coffee; I don’t know if you can see that the paper is upside-down.

I’ve been reading back thru all the posts that I missed, so many gorgeous designs, wonderful interpretations and all so unique. I’m re-watching all the videos to make note of the different things I’ve learned, it is quite impressive.
I hope everyone keeps busy and stays safe.
                                  hugs, Diana

                                    Hello everyone,
I’m so sorry for those of you that have had your lives turned wrong-side up, I miss the usual buzz of activity around here and hate knowing so many are experiencing stress. Although, being 77 puts me in the vunerable age category, being isolated at home is pretty normal for me. I no longer drive and today my Dr.’s appointment was postponed for three weeks, so in that way I think I am low risk, except for worrying about my husband who must still go out and about doing the shopping and making
a living for us, my stress is less than many.

I never sleep more than 2 to 4 hours a night so I’m up most of the time, for not getting much sleep
I usually feel pretty good, but every once and a while it catches up with me and I crash.  This afternoon was one of those times when I just felt terrible and had to lay down. Usually a couple of hours nap leaves me feeling better.  This afternoon was different however, because of this terrible Covid 19 scare my husband was panicking and wanted to rush me to the hospital and they have enough to do with actual sick people. I’m afraid many are going to panic as the possibility of losing someone they love becomes reality. Fortunately, when I woke I felt fine and was able to reassure him, he panics more easily than I as I am a bit of a stoic.

My greatest hope is that this hideous virus passes thru quickly, touching as few lives as possible,
it’s a wake-up call for all of us, reminding us of the things that are truly important in our lives and especially treasure those that we are fortunate to love and be loved by.  Be safe! Thank goodness we have scrap-booking and this PSP group to keep our minds from dwelling on the possibilities. Be Calm and stay safe.
                                    Hugs,
                                    Diana aka PandorasHatBox

Good Evening my Friends, I finally made it in and it is so good to see friendly, familiar faces, I’ve missed you all.  I was able to get back in to joing you finally  and finished my sandwich and table setting.  I read from Carol that whe didn’t want us to do too much beyond the lesson itself so as not to scare the newer PaintShopPro’ers, but I couldn’t resist just s tad.I’ve been having a difficult time keeping my layers straight and my old brain  doesn’t retain much very will any more, I used to think of myself as a quick study, but alas! No More!  But I am determined to learn the 2020, all of it.  I had the old Jasc 7 for years and I’ve learned more with Carole in these past weeks than all that time struggling. If you watched the tube video you probably saw what I saw, but had never seen before? (Boy, try saying that 3 time quickly.)  But, now that I have seen it I have been having such fun.  It tickles my funnybone to kearn anything new that really interests me.

This is for BSC 1, module 3  I tried to follow the guidelines but I just don’t seem to be able to follow through without wandering off into a different direction.  It may not look like it but I did follow all the basic precepts.  This project is of my two eldest grandsons who have a whole lot of love for each other.  This image is one of my favorite, called “Brothers”, and it warms my heart to watch them.  This was a long time ago, but they are still just as close.  Billy, the older boy is now working in construction and he is the grandson in the “Father/Daughter dance” image I used for an earlier module.  Jake is a paramedic, studying to be a fireman any time and I want to give them this image as a surprise for their wives. I always enjoyed seeing pictures of my husband when he was younger and I’m certain they are the same.

The original picture had the boys sitting on the floor in front of a floral sofa which I decided to change so it wouldn’t be too “Girly” (S)  So I isolated the boys and covered up a rather wild wrapping paper that was laying on the floor in front of them by flood filling the area with an amusing background of mice, or meeces as we call them.  Jake had a favorite stuffed toy mouse when he was little that he treasured.  Then, since I think this pic is amazing, I used am image of a mouse on a maze, I placed a shadow on each layer and made tubes from three of the mice on the background to add a whimsical touch, each on their shadowed layers.   Although I didn’t place each letter of the title vertically with individual letters, I did turn the text vertically with a boxed shadow which gave the title a more solid appearance which I was looking for.  I hope that my three little mice will be acceptable as a grouping because they are just so darn cute.

I’m still having a difficult time juggling the different layers in PSP 2020 so this took me a long time to complete, I hope you like it.

                                                Group Hug,

                                                Diana

                                                  Hello Ladies and Gentlemen;

I have finally finished Basic Scrap Course 1, module 3.  As usual, I don’t seem to be able to follow the rules entirely but merge off into a different direction.  This time I used one of my favorite photos of my two eldest grandsons when they were small.  I was always so pleased and proud of how close they always were. I didn’t want to do the traditional layout because this image really wasn’t suited to it since the boys were sitting on the floor in front of a very floral sofa with a piece of extremely colorful wrapping paper on the floor in front of them with clashing colors and styles.  Jake, the younger boy had a favorite stuffed toy mouse that he took everywhere so since I love collecting psp tubes of mice myself, I decided to go in that direction.

First, I selected the wrapping paper on the floor and flood filled it with the mouse paper, then I separated Jake and Billy from the background and saved it as a tube, added the shadow and chose my background papers, placing a shadow on each layer.  I had this mouse maze that fit into the theme I had in mind, so used that as my second layer placing the boys and adding the shadow to that.  Then the pink to pick up the pink of the mice’s ears and a gray to pull it all together, each with their own shadows.   The three mice were separated from their background and each made into a tube with their own layers, off-set to make room for the text that I turned vertically because of its length instead of placing individual letters vertically ,that I did do at first but wasn’t happy with.  I didn’t use a shadow for the lettering because I thought it looked too fussy with this font.  I used the mice in place of the embellishment grouping because they are just so darn cute.  I did go through all the steps in the video though and I love learning all these new methods.

The boys, BTW, are now grown.  The younger is in training to become a fireman and the elder works in construction and is the same grandson that was in my earlier page taking his little step-daughter to her first Father-daughter dance.  I am very proud of them and Cassel, I hope you don’t mind my bending the rules, I’m still paying attention to everything you teach, you are the best.

Have a lovely evening and I WILL TRY to follow module 4 to the letter, I promise!

                                                  hugs,

                                                  Diana

Cassie, I’ve downloaded that darn zipfile three times but somewhere between the zipfile and the trusted scripts I  lose the file  and just the folder is there but no file, I don’t know what I am doing wrong.  I’ve watched that video over and over.  How should I get the file from winzip to trusted scripts, that seems to the problem.  I feel like such a dummy!

Wow, it sounds like everyone has been busy with such good looking projects.  I’ve been busy with tech support trying to get the extra programs that came with  PSP 2020  working.  My sweet husband had me buy the program for Valentine’s Day and I’ve been going  crazy trying to get past ERROR 87, I’m dreaming about it at night.  I’ve been playing with layers and just playing in general.  I learned how to add a pattern to letters and made an alpha in block letters with a pink roses on black background inset.  I had a lot of fun doing that, I’ve wanted to learn that for a long time.   I also got a free .png file from PHOTOSHOP-KAPONA.COM and figured out  how to turn that into picture frame and insert it into the program as a .pfr frame and it worked… lol.  But mostly. I’ve been with tech support and they still haven’t gotten two of the extra programs to load properly and my head is burned up with frustration. Now I hope to get back to working on the next mode ,only on TWO and I still haven’t been able to do the binding script, I don’t know what I am doing wrong, it seems like everything is going wrong lately, but I’ll keep plodding along.  Have fun, I love seeing what you all are accomplishing, just awesome.

                                                            hugs,

P.S. Sorry, I don’t know why my earring holder loaded twice, like I said, everything seems  to be going wrong.
