Carole, previously I have been using 2020 (and still use it for some filters) and my drink was hot chocolate.
Both photos here are mine, and both taken at Cable Beach Broome. I made the 2nd paper and also the pearls. The font is Fugenta Script.
The pages produced so far have been awesome to view.
Layers – A couple of ‘very hungry caterpillars’ were eyeing off my sandwich so I had to eat up quickly!
Hi – this will be my 3rd Bootcamp, I decided it was about time to use 2021 which has been sitting idle on my desktop for quite some time now and what better way to break it in than with a Scrapbook Bootcamp!!
It is nice to see some familiar faces/names along with some new ones and I look forward to seeing the pages created.
I hope to use images from Broome in Western Australia. I have set up my preferences for 2021 including a few additions to the standard toolbar.
Being a ‘Love’ challenge I thought I should include a heart! The heart I made from a Pinterest tutorial post last year and I spent 2 days recently searching my computer and Pinterest trying to find it again but no luck. It was red, I recoloured it to blend in with the photo. Broome is a wonderful place to visit with a rich history in pearling, amazing sunsets and camel rides along the beach.
The way this mask was created was basically how I made my scalloped paper template, although I never considered it as a mask until now.
Thanks Carole for this challenge with so many aspects to it and new techniques learnt, now to put into practice what I have learnt. Thanks also to all in the group for sharing your photo’s, stories and amazing talents.
Finally finished all 7 Days – the pages were a bit rushed but I wanted to complete each challenge and learn the various techniques each had to offer, now I can go back and tweak and improve the pages. The sharing and advice amongst the group is wonderful and there is so much talent here.
Carole, with the glyphs not appearing I discovered there was a clash in my fonts with another mama font, I ended up deleting that one and reinstalling the new one and all good thank you.
Day 5 – Shark Bay – is one of only a handful of beaches in the world to be made up of solely of shells. You won’t find a grain of sand in sight! The beach is made up of trillions of tiny white shells all from one type of animal, the tiny shells have accumulated up to 10 metres deep forming a beach stretching 120 kilometres. (courtesy of google!) It is amazing to see. The pelican was from another beach further along the coast.
Love the accidental discovery of the background on Day 6 and the possibilities are endless and that can be seen with how everyone has used it on their pages, such variety.
The kaleidoscope paper made some interesting patterns, choosing one was hard!. The Pinnacles are natural limestone structures, dating back 25,000-30,000 years! They are fascinating to walk among, some are quite tall over 3 metres. I do like using a brush to mask. I will be using this technique a bit. I did use a watercolour brush but it was a brush I already had. The paper for the flower was one I had.
Hi – I am a very late starter to this challenge and I have just been through the postings and all the pages are amazing and so varied. A real delight to see. I have used masks a lot but not like these, I especially like how they mask a smaller select area and especially using a brush to mask. The ‘mama’ font I downloaded from Day 1 doesn’t have the glyphs for me, I may have to check if I downloaded the right one. My photos are from one of my West Australian trips along the coast, I love that part of the country and unfortunately with covid border closures I have not been able to spend any time there this past 12 months. These pages were a bit rushed as I have tried to catch up, I will be able to go back and ‘tidy’ them up later.
Day 2 shows a memorial to the HMAS Sydney in Geraldton WA. This ship was sunk off the West Aust coast in 1941 by a German warship disguised as a Dutch merchant ship. The whole 645 young Australians were killed. The dome pictured here is made up of 645 seagulls – one for each life lost. The wreck was only located in 2008. The granite wall has each persons name engraved and the lady is a bronze statue called “The Woman Waiting”.

Hi – I was hoping to join in this Boot Camp again – (I am working on calendars still!) it is a great scrap book starter and I am still learning how everything goes together, I have learnt a lot and still have a lot to learn in creating pages, but I look forward to coming in and seeing the results being posted and the inspiration shown. Enjoy the challenge, the pages and the expertise of Cassel.
I am well and truly behind with my calendars – also waiting on some photos from family members. The first campus challenge I did was with the 2018 calendar and I really enjoyed it and so did the family and I have been requested to make them each year since. This year I have been asked if it is possible to make calendars specific to various family members rather than the same one for all and I am still waiting on photos to be sent through. So I have lots of bits of calendars at the moment!! (and still tweaking!)
As always I am in awe of the creativity of those here and just love the photos and the stories they tell. Everyone has the same months but oh so different interpretations!! just beautiful to see so much inspiration. Thank you.
Like Marie-Claire I have tried to use one photo behind the different masks and I am still experimenting and hoping it works soon!
Ann – I wonder if you made a similar mistake I just made to get such a large file – I resized a pin by % – then later when I went to resize an image I forgot to change to pixels and – it resized 600%!!! Totally froze everything and luckily I had already saved it before trying to resize.
I clear my psp cache under Preferences then select Reset Preferences BUT make sure you only have the Delete all cache files ticked.
This is the first time I have done a scavenger hunt so am hoping it meets the criteria. I made the ribbon and the string bow also the glitter which looks like a swarm of bees ! I also sprinkled a little glitter on the bushes but it is a bit hard to see here. The ticket I found in a kit by Amber Shaw called Now Showing and the pin in a sewing tube. The photos are mine.
My final project in this Bootcamp, thanks Carole for taking the time to put these up and for your encouragement and helpful suggestions.
Paradise Falls is a very small waterfall in a pretty area in Victoria – the photo on the left shows the fall, the background is the fall also but standing behind it. The centre background photo is the ground in front of my grand daughters ‘dabbing’ on a rock and the whitish area is the fall of the water – it disappears into the ground! The squares and font colours are taken from the images. The frame I made.
I have enjoyed taking part in this Camp and especially enjoyed the talents showcased and the stories the projects told so thanks to all for the inspiration and sharing while learning along the way.
My final project has been a disaster from start to finish 🙁 my pc keeps either freezing completely or takes forever to open any tools and I have cleared the cache and rebooted several times. I also had an idea of how I wanted to work it but that didn’t come together as I planned either. Tomorrow is another day so hopefully everything will fall into place then.
Cindy, I emailed you the paper templates shortly after I got your email – we are in different time zones so I am sorry you didn’t get them earlier.
Love the sisters/brothers/best friends theme!
My very pink PINK project. The 3 flowers are West Aust wildflowers and the Camellias were from my mother’s garden. I have been leaving space at the bottom of my projects so I can add text later.
The papers are mine including the vellum, the pink strip is from the photo I used for the background colour and the 2 lighter ones coloured from the lighter camellia. The elements from my stash.
Thanks for article you posted for Jan it was very interesting – recolouring is an area I have been struggling with, esp. when I make a textured paper, to keep the texture featured the only way I have found seems to be the hue/sat/colorize but the colours like you said in the article are not always right, but then I do get some interesting ones! I do convert to grey scale first .
Cindy – if you would like to email me your email I can send you the template I made and a paper you can use as it would be too big to post here .. my email is euka2308@gmail.com Hope that is ok Carole.
The papers and photos are all mine.. the parrots and small butterflies were in my ‘stash’ and the words are from Ms Google!. Unfortunately it is hard to do justice to the wildflowers and just how far they extend but they are amazing.
I have the scallop paper again .. took me a while to make a template I liked and I am still working to get a nice bevel edge.
Cindy – if you like I can give you the template I made for the scallops – which is just a line of circles cut in half. Or a blank paper you could play with. Sounds like Bruce Lee was meant to be with you.
Jan – waving back at you from lockdown!!
It is always interesting to see the great projects being presented.
I visited the The Wintergarden in Auckland – it is a heritage protected site developed after World War 1 and houses an amazing display of flowers and plants.
All the papers and photos are mine. I like using photos as papers and elements. Not sure on the colour scheme tho!
And yes Ann, I am downunder in Australia where spring has arrived.
Wattle is an early sign of spring here and for the avid fishermen/women it means the yellowbelly (Golden Perch) fish will be ‘on the bite’.
The papers and photo are mine, the stripe one is made from the wattle photo with 80% opacity. The butterflies were in my collection and colourised for a better match (well that was the theory) Bright pink and purple didn’t look quite right! Font is Annabel Antique Script.
Hi this is my 2nd bootcamp, I enjoyed the first one and looking forward to this as a refresher, ideas and inspiration (which I lack). I have many many photos of flowers I have always wanted to do something with so flowers will by my theme for this camp.
Day 1 – my computer is pretty much set up how I like – Dark Grey, Tabbed unchecked (not sure why they ever made that checked as a default a few versions ago!) Classic Materials now back (Thanks to 1st Bootcamp) and I prefer to have my materials palette mostly on HSL and right pane checked.
Day 2 – my salad sandwich with a doily, sugar bowl and tea added.
A bit late to post this but nevertheless here it is. Each day there have been so many stories that could have been told but they can now be added into my scrapbook when I find the photos to go with them.
Thanks to all especially Carole for making these challenges available for us all .
Not sure my ‘fear’ is actually a fear or just something that I really, really do not like. But growing up I don’t think I really afraid of anything. I had 2 children petrified of spiders and still as adults give them wide berth.
The elements and story paper are from ones collected over time, the rest are mine.
Even though I only eat beef and lamb I love cooking and experimenting and I have a willing family as my guinea pig taste testers!! My neighbour also is a very happy taster recipient. I cannot tolerate coffee and that is one thing I won’t add in my cooking as coffee just doesn’t agree with me.
This is the first time I have used only a scrap kit, it is Mango Tango by Delicious Scraps as it had the alpha font in it. Until I found it I was tempted to add text to a curve but then I thought that kind of defeated the purpose of the challenge for me to learn something new.
I finally understand how to remove unwanted paper in template layers after watching the Day 2 video a few times. Also learnt how to adjust text wrapping around elements and creating text using 2 layers.
Thank you Carole for your time, instructional videos and comments and thank you also to everyone for sharing your interesting stories and creative layouts.
ps Carole -I think I would have been around 9 or 10 when we were playing pranks with the handbag.
Trying to catch up I used the Quick page for this one.
So many interesting stories people have to tell – snippets of life that often get forgotten until something / someone comes along and jogs our memory. Thanks for that Carole!
The papers and elements are mine apart from the flower at the top left .. the rest are preset shapes as I couldn’t find anything else in the colours – the centres are a glass button I made but I need to work on my button making! The story font is Lato, the heading Bauhaus.
Any suggestion as to the best setting to use when resizing please?- smart or bicubic or one of the other options.
Changed my stories so many times if I change again the challenge will be over! .. Interesting reading through the posts.
Could not get anything to link for Day 7 and the mark left behind … what I wanted to create was supposed to be a rough carving on a prison wall from 1890. (I looked online and in the help without much success re linking). Port Arthur was set up as a Penal Colony for convicts sent out from Britain. Both Day 6 and Day 7 photos are mine – with the postcard photo taken from our Balcony prior to departure.
Thanks Carole for the Travel Challenge, it is always great to learn new things in PSP and thanks to all who posted their amazing travels both taken and yet to travel.
I am slowly working my way to the end … the pages I am working on are far from complete so I am posting just a photo (that has a texture over it) with just the stamps and my ‘leather’ tag hooked over an old pier post. The stamp on the tag is a map of Tasmania with an apple on top as it is known as the Apple Isle. The postage stamps are of the Sydney Opera House.
I tried using the double page – (think I prefer single pages) so my date is split in half. I could have placed it elsewhere but wasn’t sure where. Ahh well with practice I might get there. The photos are mine with the background one a night pic taken of the Yarra River in Melbourne. The Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera house were both taken from the Ship as we sailed out of Sydney Harbour. The papers are mine and the plane from google (we flew Qantas).
Day 2 – running a bit behind here and I had the dates in then saw Day 3 was making a date stamp so deleted it from this page for now. I am getting a touch of wanderlust after seeing all the wonderful trips people have made or want to make!
Hi to all and so nice to see a few familiar names and some new ones! Of course the creative talent once again shines – thank you!
My daughter had been wanting to go on a cruise and to visit Port Arthur in Tasmania for many years so when I saw a cruise advertised that covered both I booked. Fortunately it was last October, I am not sure I would get her on a cruise after the recent issues with the virus and cruises. I love cruising and will cruise again once everything settles down.
