@Cassel The shadow on the green mat seems dark, almost like a double shadow. I checked but it isn't a double one. What do you think, is it a correct shadow, do I have to change the opacity maybe?

With the scrap page, I used some pieces from Jessica Dunn's Curio Pantry.

I started with the word Roses much smaller and decided to enlarge that word to balance the page.

@MoniqueN. so, you put your sandwich directly on the table? I guess that is how a sandwich can be eaten when you don't really need cutlery! Looking forward to your scrapbook projects now that you are familiar with the bootcamp

    @Jen Brown

Hahaha! Yeah, it seems so! Totally forgot the plate 🙂

  4. Just a quick version, without shadows etc. I have done this exercise  a few years ago when I first joined I think..

Since I joined Carole's campus I learned more in a few lessons then I did all these years with lessons from the internet. (Started with version 7 or 9) Mostly because explanations about why and how were not there and here everything gets explained and if you get stuck Carole is always around and of course the fellow PSP-ers here.

I have too many hobby's so I'm not always very active here, but love this community! 🙂

  5. My workspace is the darkest you could choose. I bought a larger monitor sometime ago, will have to look in my documentation how I change the size in the layer pallet of the eye icon. It's very small now.

I have gathered some of my mill photo's, I will go and use them this bootcamp. 🙂

I grew up as an only child, but in fact I wasn't! My parents had a child before me, also a girl which died at childbirth after a normal pregnancy. In those days just after WWII there was no way to interfere as we now are accustomed to. I only found out that I had a sister just by accident because nobody talked about it, although I always had a feeling something out of the ordinary had happened. My mother didn't even got to see her baby, let alone held it! It was thought that it was better this way, how cruel! When I was a bit older I came to realize that my mom was severely traumatized  and until her death never coped with it together with the trauma from living through WWII as well. Luckily my dad whom I adored was different, so my childhood was okay. My dad came from a large family and he was the youngest of 12 and I had lots of cousins but they all were considerably older than I was. The difference between me and the cousin above me was 14 years and when we had family gatherings I was the only little one and now all minus one are deceased.

I have only a couple of very bad photos and I used one of those for this layout, because it is characteristic of how it was. From the left side there are 3 aunties who were single and lived together in the family apartment and I was there quite often. To the right is my mom and we are practicing a song. My dad's side of the family is very musical; he played the violin, my aunt the grandpiano, another aunt a flute, my grandfather who had already died and an uncle played the organ in church. The rest of them was in a choir. I think I was about 3 or 4 in this photo.

I had to fix the very dark and faded photo to get something that I could use. It was ripped at the edges as well, which I kept. The street plan of Rotterdam is from the sixties and that fits in with my story. The instruments are dingbats called 212 Music Dingbats, the music staff is by Janet Scot and the font is Ana's Faded Typewriter which I think is fitting! The picture frame is in PSP.

    Such a sad story...............

Yes, I do like reality shows. Over the years I have watched Survivor, Amazing Race and all variations of the Bachelor shows.

I haven't watched Survivor for several seasons. The last full season I watched was #41. I watched the first episode of #42 and quit. Season #46 premieres next week. It just doesn't appeal to me any more.

Same with the shows from the Bachelor. The problem with it is that the producers use the same storyboard/formula every season and cast the contestants to fill a character they need. Then they create drama instead of letting it happen organically like in the original seasons. And, it seems all of them want to be "influencers" so they play to the camera. It has gotten quite boring to me.

Amazing Race is still good and I can't wait for the next season to start in a couple weeks. Production still finds ways to keep the show fresh for the viewers.

But recently a show has come out that I absolutely love! The Traitors. Season 1 in the USA came out last year and Season 2 is airing now. Evidently there are other English speaking versions from the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Peacock has the 1st seasons for UK and Australia. Season 2 for UK and Australia will be on Peacock in March and New Zealand season 1 will also be added then. I watched UK Season 1 and now I want to see them all!

Traitors is originally a concept from the Netherlands, it was a great succes over here. We loved watching it. Are there famous people on your version of the show? We now have, I think, the 4th season, now for the first time with "common"people.

  8. Lesson 7

    Bree serif is the font

    Datestamp from Cassel

    Text translation:

I have learned "Zo gaat de molen"(A oldfashioned Dutch song for young children) to my granddaughter (just 2 years now) Singing aong is still a bit difficult, but the movements with the song, she can do.During our last visit to the Open lucht museum in sept. 2023, we took more mill photo's and put them on our digital photo frame. Every time she sees a mill, she starts to sing and move. And we sing along with her!"

It was fun to do this course again (Except the linoleum) , it reminds me to paint shop more often, because you forget some techniques or handy short cuts 🙂

I followed the lessons a tiny bit 🙂 Last week I had a very small operation. They placed a voice prosthesis after I had a laryngectomy  in june last year.

And after that I catched a nasty cold.             So in  very nearby future I start with making masks learned in this workshop.

I looked now at the most beautiful works from you all.

Hope you will be well soon!

  10. Mwuah........Maybe the photo doesn't fit the background, the linoleum maybe better for mats, or there's something else, but I don't know what I don't like much.

  11. Lesson 5

My, my, what a project tis is/was! And not because of the lesson, but I couldn't find a brush that I thought was ok for this photo. I ended up with this, nothing special, but ok for this lesson. Spent all afternoon on it 😞

Day 6. For the mask I used the cass-Curlylines script and the rocks/pebbles are made with cass-RocksPebbles script. I used that one because the area where I saw these flowers was rocky with grass patches in which flowers were growing. It are quite delicate little plants which can be used as herbs. The background is made by 3 layers of the linoleum effect with different blend modes. The bottom one is the monochrome, then a copy with some blur and blendmode soft light. The 3rd layer was without the monochrome and blendmode saturation and a tiny lowered opacity. The font is Baby Magnolia.

The top ribbon is from Marisa Lerin at Digital Scrapbook. The bottom one was created using the Ribbon Factory script from Cassel. The mask was created with the help of the Paint Slash script, also from Cassel. The font is Retro Real Wavy from Creative Fabrica.

What a great idea to put a ribbon on top/bottom. Usually you put them somewhere on the canvas in different angles, but not where you put them 🙂
