Shirley: That page is beautiful! Glad to hear you're doing better.

I'm frightened for my friends in Europe and angry that this has come to pass. We, in the US, are also members of NATO so we will also be involved if it escalates that far. The last I read the Ukrainians are sitting down to peace talks and also, kicking butt! My prayers are with them.
-
Monique: This was last year's workshop for a 2022 calendar. It is finished for that year. The new one for 2023 isn't out yet.
-
Sue Thomas: Yep, me, too! I go by the written word much better than to-ing and fro-ing with a video! :-D Thanks for your kind words on my sunflower project, which was my way of acknowledging the brave Ukrainians' struggle. I tried to avoid the obvious and just concentrated on the flowers and those powerful words.
-
Christiane: I had the same problem with Linoleum. Look under Effects, Distortion Effects and there you'll find the Displacement map. I had to hunt for it myself. Good luck!

Here's my last effort for Masks-Day 7. I used the Extra design this time as I've done polka dots, etc, last year. Here are some Sunflowers with a quote that is currently in the news using Forte font. The top photo is from THViP shot by Philip Milio, the poured watercolor on the bottom right is by my daughter, Debra Lennox. Others were found on Google Images. It's not the season for sunflowers but they are all over the news and internet right now.

Randy: (#72842) Regarding your photo's dark green background, I think the effect you'd need is the Depth of Field which is under Adjust at the top. It lets you apply a blur to the background while isolating the main figure in your photo. Or you could use the Freehand Selection tool to outline your flower and then invert the selection (Ctl-Shift-I) and use the Adjust / Brightness and Contrast tool to dim the color. Good luck!

Here, back again, is great-grand Logan from last May. He just turned one Feb 6 this year. He's so cool! Love lino backgrounds. I save them with my stash of papers, too. Everyone's work is fabulous!!
-
Connie, that's beautiful! That carved pole is magnificent!
-
Julie, beautiful city and layout well done. So sad in the news :-(

Here's my Masks-Day5 - Logan-Yum! Followed Carole's video pretty closely; used a gradient for the background and applied a leather texture. This was the day of great-grand Logan's first birthday, in the morning, during breakfast at home. The title font is Mama and the smaller one for "yum!" is called Milkimo Cheesecake. I created a square frame with rounded corners and filled it with gray and applied a bevel.

I revised the font for the heading, using Bring Heart this time. Hope it is more readable.

Here's Masks-Day4 - Pileated Woodpecker. I was lucky enough to have a pair in my yard at my last home in the countryside before moving to the city. They were noisy and made a BIG mess of a large tree stump! They are beauties, though, the largest of all our woodpeckers and I'm convinced the model for the cartoon, Woody Woodpecker. :-D
Also, sorry, Carole, I got ahead of myself when I found my directions to make linoleum ;-)
The title font is Magneto. I made my own mask using one of the watercolor brushes.

Hi Christiane, welcome! We have a lively crew here from raw beginners to experienced PSPers. I find that Carole is a great, patient teacher and have learned a lot myself in the last two years I've been here. I had used PSP to create a website for our business, but it was rudimentary, so I've benefitted from instruction just for that. Now that I'm retired, I'm concentrating on my pets, family, local wildlife and my favorite, Save the Tigers campaign. Have fun!!

I reviewed the layout for this class that I had last year and need to show it off because it is, hands-down, my favorite! I will proceed to work on a new one but in the meantime, here's Magic (yes, that's her name) ...
-
Here's my Mask#3 - Logan, who just turned One on Feb 6. He's not ready to really chat yet but he sure tries!
-
Sue, your garter snakes are beautiful! Such striking colors! I had a few as captures when I was a teen; have always liked snakes but I'd turn them loose shortly after because I didn't know how to care for them. They always feel warm and smooth to touch, not slimy like earthworms! ;-)

Fiona: I play with a lot of plaids and if I wanted to make the one you mention, I would take one of the small photos and manipulate it, even twisted on an angle, until I could select the colors I want. I usually try to work on an image that measures 500 x 500, then snip a 1 pixel by 500 strip from it and enlarge that to 500x500 again. Duplicate the layer and rotate it 90 degrees and drop the opacity on it to 50%. That would be my pattern, which can be further manipulated in the materials palette. Hope this helps.
I experimented with your photos and made you a sample plaid.

Finally finished QP7-Extra. Here's the Hawk's Nest - Rt 97 - in Sparrowbush, NY. A nightmare to drive in ice and snow but beautiful beyond compare in fine weather.
-
Here's my Day 2 - I had to use last year's as my template and even then, it was odd. [Don't ask! LOL] Here's my Short-Eared Owls with their own plaid (I LOVE making plaids!) and a little journaling to tell their story.
-
Cristina: Gesundheit! :-D
-
Oh, Randy! Your eggs are very nice. I can see you had a good time doing it, too! Well done!!
-
Jacques- I just save the page as a bookmark in my browser and it's always there if I need it.

Here's my first entry into this mask-world. Everyone's work is amazing! I had big trouble with the small squares at the bottom, so I ended up using the raster-to-mask script for each of those. Whew! Glad I had that script. Here's my Great Horned Owl, the terror of the night skies! ;-)
