  1. When I was a child we'd capture them in Mason jars and create little lanterns.
  2. @Corrie Kinkel Here's the OP for this issue. Both Sherie and I had the same thing happen. Cassel said it did show up in Beta testing so the issue is not unknown.
  3. @Sue Thomas On my screen that word looks puffy rather than cut-out. Maybe it's the shadowing? ?
  4. Yes, that is my version, also. One thought: I seem to have these troubles when working on a template converted from a PSD. Since I know Adobe doesn't support bounding boxes for text, and even though I've converted it to a .pspimage, could that be partly why there's an issue?
  5. My family in California doesn't have fireflies at all. Daughter, Deb, says she misses them...
  6. @Sherie Dracup Yes, it happened to me today in my 2023 Ultimate. Exact same behavior. I deleted the vector text layer completely and ended up typing in the copy line by line. The issue seemed to be the bounding box which, as you described, suddenly stretched out horizontally. ?
  7. I have another OPEN BOOK for you. This is page 3 and 4 of the Toronto trip my daughter and granddaughter took last week. This time they visited the zoo (of course, because Jackie is also a zookeeper. Can we call it a "busman's holiday?") I already posted page 3 earlier but now I changed it.
  8. Wanting to feel like I'm making some progress, I'll post my page 3, just finished. I'm always hesitant with embellishments, preferring to showcase the photos themselves. Here daughter, Laurey, and granddaughter, Jackie, find the young rhino hilarious at the Toronto Zoo! Font is Bauhaus. Changed the background gradient.
  9. @Corrie Kinkel Now you know why I do most of my "shopping" on Amazon. ? I'm just a good customer of Amazon that they generally send orders overnight without any extra cost. I must live near one of their hubs. The City of Middletown is only 5 minutes away from here at Eagles Point Condos and we have a horse farm across the road. I do hope your dizzy spell is nothing serious. I get them from time to time, weirdly when I lay down - not when I'm upright. Your date stamps and leather tag look great. I'd suggest a smaller hole for the tag, or just add a rivet (grommet) to fill in. They're in the Tubes in metallic and color. I still haven't finished pages 3 and 4 so I'm not much ahead of you. Life keeps getting in the way!
  10. I took my first two layouts and used the open book script. I didn't have that option the last times I took this class. I think it looks good. It is posted at 1200 px wide for this forum.
  11. @Corrie Kinkel What a beautiful layout for San Francisco! ❤️ Brings back memories for me from when we were visiting my California family. I loved it out there and truly enjoyed the bridge, the trolley, Fisherman's Wharf, the Ghirardelli Chocolate display and the Tea House in the park near the Presidio. You are inspiring me to get working on the rest of my Toronto layouts as I have a ton of photos to display. I like your fishy ribbon, I recognize the fish as a Tube. Well done!
  12. Yes, I do seek out clusters, what a time saver! I have to admit when I have QPs I tear them apart and make templates! ?
  13. Here are two datestamps I did with scripts for Lesson 3. And here are two tags I made for Lesson 4; the flag of Canada and the CN Tower in Toronto. I'll add cords or chains when I know where I'm placing them. @Cassel I followed the written directions in the email and didn't watch the video until after these were done. The technique in the video is completely different from what I did. ?
  14. @Susan Ewart Don't know if you are familiar with an art "installation" called the Spiral Jetty that was created back in the 1960s on the edge of the Great Salt Lake in Utah. The "artist" was Robert Smithson and he was well known in those days for his innovative creations that were, even then, addressing climate change. Well, he's the "boy" who lived upstairs from me in New Jersey who brought home the Mantis cocoon and thrilled his mother with thousands of baby bugs on his porch. ?
  15. @Susan Ewart Here's the official data from National Geographic in this image.
  16. I wouldn't call a preying mantis a stick insect. They walk, jump and fly short distances. The females are renowned for eating the male after copulation. A neighbor boy brought in a cocoon on a stick and ended up with hundreds on his enclosed porch. Of course, they eat each other as their first meal. I'm surprised they're not prevalent in your area as they are very common here in NY. Lately there has been an influx of an "invasive" giant version that is not as benign as our native one. They are known to "prey" on hummingbirds so I watch to keep them away from my feeders.
  17. DAY 2 - LEFT HAND MAP PAGE - 3 Photos: Ripley's Aquarium Canada; The Pink Floyd Exhibition at the Canada Day Fair; my 2 travelers showcasing the Toronto harbor with the CN Center. (There are two different shots like this; the other has the city skyscrapers out the CN 360 windows. I suspect the backgrounds were changed but the women remained the same! ? ) This map was treated to a soft light layer effect. I snagged the Ripley logo and used multiply to place it on of our photos. I used various metallic gradients on the photo frames. I used Cassel's Datestamp 13. I'll probably be adding more elements later in the class as I recall we get to create some that are appropriate to the trip.
  18. @Gerry Landreth Honestly, your Carmen Sandiego looks like she belongs in one of Michele's Fabulous Divas games. That double layout is fabulous! "Scrapbookers Block" indeed...?
  19. Wow, this is great news, @Jenifer Lyn. I always grab Alphas when I find them; can never have too many! Like Michele, I like layered templates, also. And Frames! Who can resist frames? Will explore your creations with interest! Good luck! ?
  20. I feel my recent attendance at the memorial for my Facebook Friend, Ray Fiore, qualifies. I got to enjoy meeting several Facebook Friends in person for the first time. They had all met each other at various conventions for the book series that brought us together almost 10 years ago, but since the cons were held in places like Dublin and Stockholm, I had never made the trips. Though the occasion was sad, we all enjoyed finally meeting in the flesh. Here's a shot I took of the crew.
  21. Here is my Day One map/trip project featuring a jaunt my daughter and granddaughter took from Pennsylvania, USA, to Toronto, CA, last week. Their route goes from Matamoras, PA, to Newark Airport in NJ by car, and from there the flight to Toronto. I started out with the template but ended up paring it down a lot. I like playing with maps!
  22. I haven't had a "peek" yet, but I discovered I had to increase the Compression Value in my File/Export/Save as a .JPG dialog box up to 72 for display here in the Forum. Maybe that would help you. I even saved an icon on my top menu bar for that command and for the .PNG.
  23. @Michele This is a change of pace for your Divas! Nice to see they can "let down their hair" on vacation! ?
  24. Looking forward to your Red Hat stories, Anita. I've heard of the group but don't know the background so please enlighten me. ?
