This is such a beautiful clear and clean page, Susan. The image you have used is lovely and the daisies look wonderful as a fill in that font.

Day 1 I played around with this one, when creating the page, I used the same settings for the papers and the photograph, yet they look different, not sure why! I wanted the idea of waves crashing into the shore with rocks flowing in with the water. I used Cafe Rojo for the word BEACH and 1 Archer DNA for the remainder of the text. This lovely photograph of a friend's son and his family at the beach. It was Ruby's first trip to the beach.

Hi Jannette, using Google Translate, I hope you get the gist of what I am saying. I'm sorry to hear about your husband, I pray he will improve. I am looking forward to seeing what you can do in this workshop. Spending time with your husband and visitors is a priority, I am sure Carole will do this workshop again sometime, if you're unable to complete.

Hi everyone, I am in, too. I'm a typography addict, so looking forward to this workshop. It is a long time since I had a good play with fonts.

Easy to do when the work is right in your face, I often find stepping away for a cuppa helps. I am fairly visual and 'see' things others may not, at times.

I love this idea, Sue. And the quote is great.

Beautiful, Susan. However, check your spelling on the lower wording at the bottom right. You have Michael spelled Micheal only once. I, too, love the fonts used.

Thank you, Michele, truth be told, I wanted to use a key but wasn't sure where to place it, then, it hit me, replace the o in Locked! Not planned, just a fluke, really.

Thankyou, Daniel, I downloaded your nautical picture tubes.

For some reason, I am having difficulty posting, every time I go to the bottom of the page to reply to topic, I get the entire page come up, so I am replying to Carole's comment this time. For Day 5 Project 2 I have chosen to use a photograph I took years ago at a dam in Central Otago. I often take photos to create textures and I loved the cobwebs on this old lock. I decided to use a copy of the same photo, with a Sheilsoft script, a soft ultra tone, then altered this copy's hue, saturation, and lightness. I used Jessica Dunn's Spring Skies mini kit, altering the colours to suit. The green polka dot paper was quite bright and I felt it took over this image so I adjusted the green to a more muted grey/green. I also adjusted the white paper's hue, saturation, and lightness, not changing the white, and changing the flowers instead. The stitching is from Marisa Lerin from Digital Scrapbook, the key from Sheila Reid, also from Digital Scrapbook although I used the artistic effect chrome to brighten the key. I have been playing with the Beginners' Scrapbooking projects and had created something for this particular layout, and decided to do something different for the bootcamp.

Carolyn, we all started somewhere, that is what is wonderful amongst this gang of creatives, and we learn from each other as well. Have fun, and you will find the learning gets easier.

Day 3, Project 1 I enjoyed playing with this one. My younger sister and I, not sure how old we are in this one, but it certainly wasn't yesterday I used a kit, Classy Mini, from Jessica Dunn at Curio Pantry. Instead of a scatter, I chose her string, changed the colour to copper then added picture tube hearts to the string, which I colourised.

Not better, Carolyn, just different from yours. Mine, last time, was similar to yours. You added a spoon for stirring your coffee, that shows initiative.

Carole, my psp google.io group do a weekly share and with that, I type in my search engine 'free png downloads' then the subject, eg 'slices of onion'. Many images come up and often, as with this exercise, many unusuitable,, but the odd one that can be utilised. Hope this helps someone who might not know how to find images.

Looking forward to this bootcamp, it all helps me learn more. I've been playing with Paintshop Pro for many years and, since joining Scrapbook Campus, I am learning so much about how this programme works. Below is my workspace, I'm working my way through the beginners' scrapbook projects. I used to use the light grey workspace and, about a year or so ago, I went to dark. I find the images stand out for me on the dark workspace.

Same here, and I got another wrong as well.

13/15, some work to do here. I watched the videos of the last 2 and haven't done them yet.
-
You can use psd files in Paintshop Pro. I get PSD templates rather than single layers as in jpgs and TIFFs. That way they are already in layers and makes for easier moving of elements, if required.

Great information there, Susan. I love fonts and have read heaps about them, I studied them in my Graphic Design course and have enjoyed learning about them ever since. There are some wonderful sources online about type and I often share them with my online graphics group. Working with a good x-height when creating text for layouts is always good. The larger the x-height, the more readable the font is. Also, learning to combine fonts is great especially when creating scrapbook pages. Serif fonts are excellent for journalling because the serif leads the eye along a piece of journalling, although I often use a sans serif font. After all, I love simple, clean fonts.

Lesson 5 Curly Ribbons Oh dear, I'm not sure my hand was steady enough for these. And, I did give them a go, although I'm having trouble with lesson 6, not my best one, I am sure. Funnily enough, when I uploaded my lesson here, I noticed mistakes and had to correct those. Easily enough with the warp brush and the eraser.

Lesson 4 This was an interesting lesson. I created the background using the top right flower and kaleidoscope. I like what I got and have saved it into my backgrounds folder. The only flower I used the warp brush was the lower right flower. The practice lesson The tutorial lesson Thanks, Carole, I will need lots more study on shadows, I see. Jeni

Lesson 3 I am behind since the ctrl z was used so often on this one I decided to let it go and send in what I have done, to get feedback, at least. I think scripts might save me some time with lifted shadows, I don't feel too confident at this stage. I think the second photo looks better. Jeni

Susan, the woman I got her from had already taken mum and her kittens on a 600 km journey by the time I got her. I just continued, taking her to the grocery store to start with. Then to visit with friends. The long journeys were interesting, and she never got lost. I don't know what she did once I let her out in the mornings, and I'd get back from a conference and she'd be waiting. It made things so much easier when heading away on holiday, we didn't have to get anyone to look after her. I don't know how true it is, I heard the Dalai Lama carries a cat with him, hidden in his robes when travelling. A kitten I had earlier, was taken by bus, train, boat, and aircraft. The journey by plane was interesting. I had given her some water at the airport in Dunedin after traveling from Auckland. When I got back on the plane, she meowed, and the woman ahead of me asked the hostess had she heard a cat? The hostess said we don't allow cats on planes, and didn't say anything to me so I didn't enlighten her. My kitten was six weeks old, tiny, and I carried her in a paper bag with a pillow case in the bottom, and she slept most of the way.
