Lovely layouts, Julie! Again, you are mastering this artsy way of scrapbooking.

Anne, another great calendar page. This beautiful mask makes it unique.

I got to know Enya years ago, when the song "Only Time" was playing a lot on the radio. I like her very much.

I have finished Day 7, and it's a double page again. Maybe there will be a Day 8, to use the last photos I have from this 2023 MalmΓΆ tour.

This is so true. Beautiful work you do, Sandy!

Oh, Corrie, this is great! Mine still behaves the same way, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong now that everyone can use this technique in Affinity 2.6. I'll have to investigate. To name the group is not important to me; it was just something I noticed.

Susan, I have to give this a thought! π€£

And no hustle, Michele!

I didn't have time to comment on everyone's work, but I loved the variety of styles and themes. Through the pages, I went to so many places, shared sweet moments, and learned a lot. Thank you to everybody who decided to share their work!

I am behind as I am also reorganizing things at home, separating household stuff, clothes, books, etc., to throw away or donate. It's incredible how we collect things over the years; some I haven't touched in ages. But I have finished a few more pages. For Day 5, I created another page, this time using the Text Effect that had previously failed to work.

Donna, seeing the whole "magazine" as a flipping book is so lovely. I love the blue paper too!
-
Monique, this is another great to showcase the magazine!
-
Good point, Susan! π

It's great to see the result as a flipbook, Corrie. Great work!

Hi Linda, thank you for the tip. π In my case, the Recolor Layer was not automatically grouped into the Text Layer. I had to do it manually, as Carole showed in the video. I don't know how you created the text, but I used the Text Frame Tool, not the Artistic Text Tool. I am not sure if this influences the outcome, as I have not tested this way. Here is a screenshot showing the two layers separated.

Beautiful layout, Mary! I also like the quatrefoil paper very much.

Susan, I understand you need to set priorities and dedicate your time to what is important to you, especially if you have a full-time job. Don't be discouraged because we are "so far advanced." We are all starting to learn Affinity (or PSE), and the best way to learn anything is not to put too much pressure on ourselves or compare ourselves with others. You are not here to see my frustration because things are not working, and I still have to learn how to do it. π₯΄π But it's one day at a time. Chinese proverb: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step". π

Corrie, I haven't found an explanation, and it might be a bug. I also noticed that in Affinity Photo 2.6, you are not asked to give the Group a name as in 2.57.

Julie, I also laughed when I saw this sign in a shop window. π

Day 5. I had a hard time with the Text technique shown on Day 5, using the Recolor Adjustment Layer and Mask Layer. The outside part of the Text would disappear as soon as the mask was created. To make a long story short, after watching the video quite a few times and comparing it with my setup, I noticed a difference in the Recolor Adjustment Layer shown in the video and mine. I was working in Affinity 2.6. I tried the technique in Affinity 2.57, and it worked perfectly. However, I didn't add it to the layout because I was tired of working with it. Nevertheless, it was a learning process, and it is an interesting technique.

Oh, that's a pity, Susan. π You could try to contact their support and explain what happened. They might have a fast solution.

Oh, that's great, Julie!

Anne, I love your comments! π€£

I also received an email from Affinity Revolution, watched the video, and downloaded the app. Yesterday, I played just a bit with the new selection tool. It's very good, but depending on the photo, more tweaks are needed. On PSE, there are the Select Subject Command and the Select Sky Command. How good the selection is will also depend on the photo; sometimes you may need to tweak with the Refine Brush or even paint in the Mask. But all in all, I think both do a great job.
