  1. Well, I have given myself a lot to say about this one Scrapbook Campers.  I did create the background paper following Cassel's Simple Blocking paper tutorial ... it is simple and loads of fun, especially as you can create an endless variety of papers.  I also created the number plate following Cassel's tutorial and I have used it as the title.

This page is all about Queensland, my home state and a bit about Bundaberg, my home town.  Most of it is self explanatory and I will not bore you all with intricate details.  The koala, Cooktown orchid, anenome fish, brolga and sapphire are all Queensland emblems.  The state colour is maroon ... a little of which can be seen in the coral tube.  Of course The Great Barrier Reef runs the full length of the Queensland coast.  The Rose Gum is our tallest rainforest tree and is invaluable to our rainforest ecosystem.  They grow in the far north and south east of our state.  The sapphires are mined in central Queensland and there are lots areas there for foraging.  The Parti sapphire (blue, green and yellow) are rare and much sort after.  The Padparadscha sapphire (a mix of pink and orange) are a lab grown crystal and hail mostly from Sri Lanka who have become experts in the technique required for such.  Bargara Beach is only one of our 7 beaches within a 20 minute drive.  Brisbane is our largest city and the capital of Queensland and Cooladdi is our smallest township ... in  fact the smallest in Australia ... with a population of 3, yep THREE!  The Queensland Nut (known to most of you as the macadamia nut) is indigenous to Australia and most Aussies along the central to south east coastal areas of Queensland had a Qld nut tree in their backyard ... we had two!  The nut was first commercially produced on a wide scale in Hawaii where Australian seeds were introduced in the 1880s, and for some time they were the world's largest producer.  South Africa has been the world's largest producer of the macadamia since the 2010s.  The Australian continent seems determined to burn or drown ours out of existence.  Still ... a burned Queensland nut is not half bad!  Oh ... and I can't forget to mention our Bundaberg Rum ... oh yeah ... and what a delightful little drop it is.  I like it over ice with a splash of soda water and a slice of lime with a mint leaf or two!  Okay, enough said, I'm off to the bottle-o now ...  ;D ;D ;D

  2. I love your Blue Jay Sue but your little Chickadee captured my heart. Your wordart is lovely and you are really inspiring me to start playing along those lines. I notice that you use masks often and I love them too and I also love to do misted tubes as they can blend very well into the background. Beautiful work my friend. ;)
  3. Dear Corrie, I hear what you are saying and undoubtedly Carole will have some cool projects in store for us. I wish for you and yours a wonderful year ahead. It may not be all that you had hoped for but you are an artist my friend and that means you are very adaptable. Exploring those capabilities within yourself may be all that you need to bring forth the happiness, love, and peace that you deserve my dear friend. Much love. ;D
  4. Thanks dear Minka. You have created a lovely NY page and it would appear that time is of the essence! May 2021 be a kind year for you and yours my friend. I think that as we adjust to this unexpected change we may surprise ourselves with our underlying capabilities. I wish for you a year ahead of love, laughter and unexpected delights. ;D
  5. Ann, a beautiful and heartfelt letter from Neil. The sentiments stirred my heart. The page you created is so very simple and mightily effective. Well done my friend. I love all your pages and your improvement since you landed on this stage is worthy of an Oscar. I wish for you and yours all the best that this year can offer and may the kindness in your heart be reciprocated by all who come in contact with you. I know I have felt it, thank you. ;D
  6. Thanks very much dear Cristina. Here in Australia we are into our 3rd day of January 2021 and the news from around the world is as daunting as it has been for the past 9 months. Queensland appears to be faring very well but NSW and Victoria are copping a hammering with COVID. I guess we can't expect an instant change just because the calendar has rolled over ... silliness really. Maybe we just need to go with the flow and find new avenues of coping ... it is the technological age after all. Much love sweet Cristina and may 2021 be a year of pleasant and unexpected surprises for you and yours. ;D
  7. A beautiful photo Sue and you have showcased it amazingly. Well done my friend. I always look forward to sharing my morning cuppa with your projects ... gives me a buzz for the day, ;D

I wish you all the very best for this year dear Sue. Your love of photography and the end results reflect where your heart is at. So ... may there be many amazing photo shoots ahead for you my friend and may the joy it gives you know no bounds. :)

  8. Hello Scrapbook Campers.  I posted this a couple of hours ago but it has not shown up so I am posting again ... now 2 will probably appear ... isn't that the way of it?  I just wanted to say thanks to Sue for the beautiful wordart.  Fingers crossed this time ... Thanks for takin a peek!  :D
  9. Another HNY my Campus Friends.  I kept it simple and used Sue's wordart ... lovely Sue, thank you very much.  The graphic is a free wallpaper on 7 Themes.com.  The lovely blue bauble is a tube from Graph-SabineDesign and the background paper is the result of playing around with overlays and blend modes.  Thanks for takin a peek!  ;D
  10. Just a little bit of silliness with this one.  I created the alpha using the font 'a Among You' and wanted to do something with it ... this is the result.  Background paper is my own.  The emojis I tubed and the tickets I created from following Cassel's tut for such.  The old gnarly Christmas tree I made a long time ago and I think it was from a script ... but then, maybe not!  I presented it fading into the background ... Christmas being over after all.  The border was a plain colour transformed by using the plugin Graphics Plus - Cross Shadow ... I really do love the effect it gives.  Thanks for takin a peek my friends.  ;D
  11. Created another alpha today again using an "African print".  The font used is Cocktails and I basically followed Cassel's tut - Outlined text (the green one).  I did add a bevel to the internal part of the alpha to give it a puffy look but that is about the only change I did to the original lesson.  Thanks for takin a peek my friends.  ;D
  12. Dear Cristina you made me smile ... as with yourself I think I have a long way to go ... perhaps I won't have to do the journey as a human being again ... maybe a tree or a flower or even a kelp frond in a kelp garden ... ROTFL!!! Ah well, I guess I will go where directed for the betterment of all. ;D
  13. A fabulous page Minka and I love the quotes ... especially 'A single dream is more powerful than a thousand realities' ... I do really like that, kinda resonated with me! ;D

Thank you so much my friend for your kind comments regards my efforts you are very kind.

Do try the block shape tutorial ... it is in the Classes - Intermediate - Creative Scrap under Shapes. Just beware ... you may become addicted to it just like me, LOL!

  14. Oh Dorothy, so sorry to hear about your Christmas eve and John's battle with nature. I hope he is doing ok now. There are so many of us that were just not meant to have a merry one! I agree with Minka, lets kick 2020 to the curb and get on with a new year, new outlook and new resolutions for peace and goodwill. ;)
  15. Hello Scrapbook Campers.  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas ... well, as much as was possible in this fractious climate.

Today I spent some time making an alpha.  Font used was Three Sixty and technique used was Cassel's tut - Block Shape ... I just love that tut!  The paper was a tile of an African print.  Background paper is my own creation and the little owls are from Alicia Mujica's delightful digital artwork.  The border was made by using the Graphics Plus plugin - cross shadow.

Making alphas seems to have a very calming effect on me so when I feel a bit overwhelmed that is where I head.  Thanks for takin a peek my friends.  ;D

  16. Dear Karon, thank you for your commiserations, you are very sweet. I will get over it, as you do, and like everyone I look forward to 2021. Who knows what the new year will hold for us but it is better to take each day as it comes. May you and your family have a wonderful New Year my friend. ;D
