Cassel Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 In July, our monthly theme is Seashells. Based on the alphabet, let's find words associated with shells, shellfish, places to pick them, crafts we can make with them, names of beaches, and more. It might be a little challenging, but with your friend, Google, I am sure you would make us discover something new. If you find a new name for a seashell, add an image or a link so we can learn something. Let's go! Because I want more people to jump in the game, I will ask to NOT post two consecutive answers (unless there is a 24 hour period without an answer since it could mean we are stuck)
libera Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 What an honour to begin :-)! I love seashells too. A = Arthropods
Bonnie Ballentine Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 B = Blue Mussel...these can be found anywhere from the Arctic to South Carolina, and from Alaska to southern Baja California.
Corrie Kinkel Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 D = Dog whelks This theme game is a difficult one for me because I don't know a lot of shells by name, even in Dutch let alone in English! A lot of using google or the directionary, so maybe I won't be that active over here.
Corrie Kinkel Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 K = Knobbed Whelk thanks to google, there aren't many shells starting with K!
sandra jones Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 L= Lace Murex. The Lace Murex, Chicoreus dilectus (A. Adams, 1855), is one of the most desirable and collectible shells from the barrier islands of Southwest Florida. The species may reach two inches in length.
Corrie Kinkel Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 O = Oyster this one I know and don't need google!
Michele Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Q = Quahog (I think it's a clam and I think I spelled it correctly.)
Corrie Kinkel Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 Seemingly nobody including google can find a seashell starting with U and therefor we are stuck! So, with your permission Carole, I will go for one with V = Venus
Anne Lamp Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 U I have not checked in on the alphabet in a while. How about unbroken (sometime a hard to find treasure)
