Alphabet game - SEASHELLS

In July, our monthly theme is Seashells.

 

Based on the alphabet, let's find words associated with shells, shellfish, places to pick them, crafts we can make with them, names of beaches, and more. It might be a little challenging, but with your friend, Google, I am sure you would make us discover something new. If you find a new name for a seashell, add an image or a link so we can learn something.

Because I want more people to jump in the game, I will ask to NOT post two consecutive answers (unless there is a 24 hour period without an answer since it could mean we are stuck)

A = Arthropods

B = Blue Mussel...these can be found anywhere from the Arctic to South Carolina, and from Alaska to southern Baja California.

D = Dog whelks     This theme  game is a difficult one for me because  I don't know a lot of shells by name, even in Dutch let alone in English!  A lot of using google or the directionary, so maybe I won't be that active over here.

K = Knobbed Whelk   thanks to google, there aren't many shells starting with K!

L= Lace Murex.       The Lace Murex, Chicoreus dilectus (A. Adams, 1855), is one of the most desirable and collectible shells from the barrier islands of Southwest Florida. The species may reach two inches in length.

Q = Quahog (I think it's a clam and I think I spelled it correctly.)

Seemingly nobody including google can find a seashell starting with U and therefor we are stuck!

 

So, with your permission Carole, I will go for one with V = Venus
