Cassel Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Do you have a favorite family recipe for pancakes, crêpes, or waffles? Here is the recipe I found for the waffles: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/20513/classic-waffles/ How about yours? 1
Susan Ewart Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I used to buy the pancake mix from the grocery store, then I found one online that I printed out. The bottom of the page says 6/2/2008, either June 2 or Feb 6 depending how the date is set up. It's called "Plain Griddle Cakes" and it's the easiest and most yummy pancakes that I've made. And it's really quick and simple to make. A paragraph a the bottom of the page reads: The recipe is based on the pancake recipe in "The Settlement Cookbook ("the Way to a man's heart") by The Settlement Cookbook Company Milwaukee Wisconsin 1903, a book every serious food reader ought to own. I add cinnamon to the dry mix and use the mix for both pancakes and waffles. For the record, I like waffles better. I have never checked to see if that book is still in print, I should do that. 3
Clarine Posted Saturday at 06:19 PM Posted Saturday at 06:19 PM I don't make waffles much anymore, but if grands ask for them we have fun making home made. They love measuring, dumping and stirring. And then of course eating them. If I end up with a few extras, I freeze them for snack on another day. I usually heat them a bit and then add peanut butter and my homemade blueberry jam. (I have a nice blueberry garden.) I printed your recipe Carole. I am interested in your crepes recipe if you care to share. Thanks much, Clarine

Expand Sure. Here it is: 2 eggs 3/4 cup of milk 1/3 cup of flour Mix everything and cook on a pan. They should be thin enough to be easy to roll on your plate. One funny story about this recipe is that we have used that exact recipe for years, however, we accidentally discovered that the measuring cup we had was INACCURATE. In fact, it holds 1/2 cup instead of 1/3. So, even though the recipe calls for 1/3 cup of flour, you can use 1/2 cup to get what we get. My guess is that the original recipe with 1/3 cup would make those crepes even thinner. This recipe makes 3 large crepes. If you want to double it, you can double the dry ingredients, but only use 3 eggs (not 4). Let me know how they turn out. 1
Anne Lamp Posted Sunday at 02:49 PM Posted Sunday at 02:49 PM (edited) Bisquick - The recipe on the Bisquick box is what my Mom always used for pancakes and that is what I always used too. Because my husband is on a low salt diet, I have not made pancakes in a long time. I sure do miss the the chocolate chip pancakes I used to make. I would wait just a little while after poring the batter in the electric skillet and then sprinkle chocolate chips on top, and of course turn them over to brown the other side. I started using the electric skillet when the stove at the house we rented was electric and had two setting, Barely warm and burn every thing. I discovered you could even pop popcorn in the electric skillet. LOL I don't have a waffle iron so I have never made them. I might try Cassel's crepe recipe because I have been thinking about trying to make some because there is no baking soda or powder in them. Edited Sunday at 02:59 PM by Anne Lamp 2
Jannette Nieuwboer Posted Sunday at 06:08 PM Posted Sunday at 06:08 PM Ik bak regelmatig linzen pannenkoeken. 1
