ScrapBootcamp3-800-Title-400x300.jpg

First of all, come and say HI once you register for this Bootcamp.

We want to know who else will be there, on our side to cheer everyone up.

Everyone started as a beginner, so don't ever compare yourself to others. You will learn one tool at a time, one concept at a time and you will create one project at a time. Everyone will have different photos and possibly different supplies so every project will be different.

Once the Bootcamp is started, on March 17th, 2025, you can post your projects in here.

Remember to resize your images to about 600 pixels AND save them in jpg format, before uploading them to the gallery (check this tutorial to upload to the gallery) so it won't slow down the site when we have lots of your masterpieces. Try to follow the tutorials at least enough so that we can recognize what lesson you completed.

Now, let's get ready!

If you missed the registration link or if you found this thread before I announced it (some people are very observant), HERE it is. Share it around if you want.

Although this Bootcamp is mostly meant to help beginners, we won't exclude anyone for "excess experience". Some participants are back for a second (or third) round. You are always welcome. Remember that it will be the exact same tutorials so don't be surprised. I am sure you will now do something slightly different than the previous time.

Since anyone can follow the whole Bootcamp using the trial version of PaintShop Pro, this is a perfect opportunity for anyone to give it a try and see how they like the program, so share with your friends who MIGHT consider using PaintShop Pro.

The 7 tutorials will be spaced out over almost 2 weeks. This should make it easier for participants to follow without feeling stressed (it should never be stressful!).

This bootcamp will use PaintShop Pro, and NOT Affinity.

I'm in.  I'm hoping to use the bootcamp to re-boot my creativity.  Carole, when I used the link in the email I just received it took me to the January Bootcamp page.  I havent decided on photo's yet.  I have a sort of idea, but I need to photograph stuff for it.  I'm glad the Bootcamp is 14 days, maybe I'll actually get to finish it, since I'm way behind in two other workshops, long past (Paper WS and Build A Kit).   I think I'll be using 2022 because I'm having the same problems as everyone was describing (wrong layers being selected, or if I hide a layer it hides another layer instead and just lots of random shut downs).  I will use it for the blend modes though.

I have finished customizing the Workspace:  large icon size; large text size; light gray workspace color; unchecked Tabbed Documents; have Rulers checked;set Edit tab as default; and changed to Use classic Material Palette.  I still need to find a picture to use - looking for that now.

I have not received the first lesson, which went over customizing the workspace.

Did you register? I don't see your name in the list for this Bootcamp.

Either you didn't register, or it had a typo maybe?

Sorry, I thought I did but I don't see a confirmation. I just went and registered, for sure!

Yes, you showed up as registered and I had not received any confirmation. That was my clue! LOL

So pleased you are sorted now, Ann, we couldn't do this without seeing how you create your sandwich this time :classic_biggrin:

Glad to see everyone joining this Bootcamp. I am happy to see returning participants, @Susan Ewart, @Jeni Simpson, @Ann Seeber, and @Jacques. In addition, we have a newcomer, @Bee Kelly. There are several more who have not posted yet. I know from past Bootcamp, that only a fraction of the registrants do post in the forum, but many still follow the tutorials (I know because of their answers to the survey at the end!).

Everyone is welcome to post, ask questions, share tips, and get inspired by everyone else. This is the power of this community.

If you know of anyone else who might be interested or curious about this Bootcamp, send them to the registration page. I am sure they would have time to catch up, even if they start a few days later.

Sorry I didn't understand how to do lesson 2 uploading the sandwich.  Tutorial didn't work.

Can you clarify what is not working? If you have completed the sandwich, you have to save a jpg version to upload it to the forum. It won't take a .pspimage format.

Day 1
My worksheet is dark, I have the same palettes as Carole shows in the video and I save a new workspace often. My tools often go haywire, so I can get back to how they should be by loading the latest workspace. I keep tabs because I like to have a tidy workspace, even when working, anything I'm not working on directly, goes into a folder.

If you look closely, the blueprint tutorial was the last one I did...the blue texture in the materials palette is the key :classic_biggrin:

For my part, as I often use PSP to make changes to my photos, I also use the "Adjust" (Réglage) tab.

I prefer the color "Anthracite"

I like my workspace dark, although i might try the medium grey to see if I like it.  I use the rulers on a UNtabbed workspace.  I closed the palettes i dont use.  And have added the Instant effects and Script Output with Auto hide on the side of the materials palette.  I have the history just below the materials palette.  I added the repeat icon to the layers palette and the bound the open as layer and have the jpg and png optimizers on the task bar (? at the top).  Yay, for the first time this year I think I'm actually posting on time.

Oops forgot the photo.  I might use this or if I have time to take any pictures I'll find something else.  I looked to see when the last time I did the Bootcamp and it was May 2023.  That seems like it's so long ago.  this is my 9th time.

Ann, how many times is this for you now.  I cant believe you forgot to register, the Bootcamp is in your DNA, I thought you might have an automatic alarm for it.  😁

Hello everyone.
I’m in. Like Susan I’m hoping it will help me “re-boot my creativity”. I keep starting things and not getting anywhere near finished. I’m hoping to use photos of places in Northumberland that I’ve visited.

I prefer a light workspace and for things to be as uncluttered as possible – if they’re not I am always clicking the wrong thing!

Thank you.  I did not save my files.  I left the files opened last night and will see if I can save now.  If not, I will redo my sandwich before going on and upload.  The sandwich video stopped without saving and so I stopped there, too.  Good laugh on me - so simple.  Thank you for reminding me to use the  jpg file to upload.

Here is my current workspace. One reminder, go to File/Workspace and Save it in case you have a problem after customizing. You'll also notice, I don't use big thumbnails on my layers. I u sually end up with a lot and just placing my mouse over the layer palette will reveal what is on each layer.
