Cassel Posted January 15 Posted January 15 What kind of "gremlins" have you experienced? We can understand that they can be very inconvenient, and occasionally, even dangerous, but did anything turn out to be a funny situation? Right now, since last week, Alcohol and Cannabis stores handled by the province cannot take credit card or debit card payments; they can only take cash. Yes, even big corporations can be subject to "technical issues". Share some interesting/funny technical issues you encountered or heard of.
Ann Seeber Posted January 15 Posted January 15 While not exactly tech gremlins, my order for my Nashville Zoo calendar, which was intended as a gift for my granddaughter, Jackie, is going through the THIRD attempt to get the order printed correctly at Staples. I created it here in October when we had a calendar workshop and next time I'll send it out right away because of the delays I'm experiencing now from Staples having to re-do the print job over and over again. I created 14 pages (12 months + a cover and back page) which are to be printed edge to edge on glossy stock and bound at the top with a black plastic coil. The first delivery came bound with staples down the left side of 8 identical booklets! After speaking to their help desk they had me re-order it online and gave me credit for the first order. The second order arrived Monday and turned out to be 15 pages (they added a black final page, for some reason) and it was bound with black coil ALL DOWN THE LEFT SIDE! *sigh* As this couldn't be hung on a wall I spoke to a rep and she looked it up and agreed with me but requested I take a photo of the incorrect product and send it on to their print team. That was yesterday, so now I'm awaiting the next iteration of their attempt to fill my order. I messaged Jackie, who was here Sunday from Tennessee with her husband for another family Christmas (that makes 3 this year!). I had hoped to have the calendar for her but it was not to be. She answered me "no worries." I will have to ship it to her when the time comes that Staples actually produces a usable wall calendar. Cross your fingers for me, please? 🙏 (I've also posted the photo of the second wrong order that Staples asked me to send.) 3
Cassel Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 Maybe you should start your 2026 calendar now if Staples takes that much time to get it right! 3
Ann Seeber Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I'm looking into a different print house. I used Staples last year and it worked fine. This year, I can't go to the store and work it out in person; everything has to be done remotely. I would appreciate suggestions for anywhere in the USA, I guess.
Dee Morris Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Wow, Anne, that is crazy frustrating! I hope third time is the charm. I think I have a gremlin as well, or rather Creative Fabrica does. The website offers a daily free font or bundle and other goodies. I am a font junkie. If I see a font I must have I go to the designer's page and buy something as a Thank You for their generosity. I usually use their PayPal link to check out, but this weekend it would not work. I've logged out and in to the site, cleared my cookies and history, authorized 3rd party, restarted my computer, logged in on a different machine. No dice. I can log into my PP account so I don't think the problem is on my side. C.F's support said they are working on it and could only suggest I pay another way. I limit my Credit Card's online use, so I'll sit this one out and hope they can fix the link. 2 4
Susan Ewart Posted January 16 Posted January 16 My niece had calendars printed this year. When she picked them up she didn't look at them. When she got home the date part below the photos was just glossy black and nothing else. So she took them back and the clerk said to her, you just wanted lots of photos. the top part of the calendar was lots of photos like a collage on each month printed edge to edge. My niece said, I ordered a calendar, shouldn't I GET the calendar part (months/days). They are being reprinted for free. I guess Calendar-less Calendars are a thing 🤣. 3 1
Jannette Nieuwboer Posted January 16 Posted January 16 (edited) Ik heb een heleboel gremlins gehad, denk ik. Ik heb al dagenlang niets meer gehoord en kon zodoende ook niet bij de Q&A zijn. Edited January 16 by Jannette Nieuwboer
Jannette Nieuwboer Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Tot gisteren kon ik ook niets meer inzenden, maar dit lukt alweer.

Corrie Kinkel Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I was lucky my calendars and photo albums have always turned out great. Once in a while there is a supermarket that has a problem with its checkout points and then the shop has to close while nothing works anymore. It too can happen that the option of electronic payment isn't available and it is only cash and everybody has to find a cash machine. Most people over here are paying with a debit card or mobile phone. Sometimes I don't even have money with me and that is mostly the case when I go for my weekly swim because I have a card for 12 weeks and then I have to buy new card. It has happened a couple of times now that it was impossible to pay with a card or phone for the after swim coffee and someone else has to pay my coffee for me, which I of course pay back the next week. However it is getting embarrassing if can't go the next week and the other one can't come the week after that. This went on for 2 month before I could pay her back. My greatest annoyance however was trying to get the Affinity deal for 90 days and that story is in the Affinity Bootcamp section of the Campus! 2
