A photo I took after a rain. I was in a frame making mood this evening.
The settings I used for the texture is: size 150, depth 3. Of course it depends on the size of your project. Everything else are default settings.
Thank you Susan. As I said, I used the original photo for the background paper, blurred and lightened it greatly. I used the texture, grain fine. Which comes with PSP. As I said in my butterfly serenity watercolour post, which I posted earlier today, I don’t have all of my resources on this laptop.
I used the photo as a background, blurred and lowered the opacity greatly, added a canvas texture. Thought it would make for a nice water colour print, signed and framed, to be wall mounted.
Pirkko, thank you for your kind words. I haven’t had the time to scroll through the challenges, but I see, today, the campus is extremely busy, so much creativity being displayed, by everyone. Fantastic work, ladies and gentlemen!
The laptop I’m using doesn’t have all of my recourses installed. So it’s a pretty basic layout. I used a brush which I already had installed, and a photo I took off my camera. The depth of field isn’t to much, ideal to give that all round dreamy effect, whilst still focusing on the butterfly and the Alf Alfa flower it is on.
Carole, I’m curious to know what tools you used in the script, did you use the rotating mirror, or something similar to my way?
Same striped paper, different direction. Resize the page to fit in the top left corner, using the guides to be accurate. duplicate, mirror vertical. Free rotate 180 degrees right. Merge down. Duplicate. Mirror horizontal.
Sounds good Carole. Once you know what tools to use, and work out in what order to use the free rotate, mirror, and flip, you can create several different patterns from the one striped paper.
As always there is more than one way to achieve any effect in PSP. Once you understand the principles of rotating, flipping and mirror it is easy. I always use guides, snap to guides, they are very accurate when moving elements papers etc, and easy to use. Worth, getting used to using them or the grid. Resize the original paper, using the guides, you’ll see 2 corners will change to red, which means that it is snapped, duplicate, move to the top right, free rotate 90 degrees to the right, merge them both. Duplicate, mirror vertical, you may have to use the guides to align them precisely. And there you have it. I sometimes feel that some over think, making a simple process more difficult than it really is. Using different thickness of lines in the pattern will not make any difference when using the technique I have given here.
Pirkko used a filter, which I believe she would have obtained from an outside source.
Corrie, thank you. I’m having a blast in Haverfordwest, West Wales. The weather is fantastic. Next week, I’ll be traveling to Cornwall to finally meet Merryn. It’s quite a trek from West Wales. Meanwhile, I’m having fun with my daughter, riding the horses on the beaches, hiking the Wales coast path (WCP). Llwybr Arfordir Cymru while inhaling all that Welsh sea air. I hope to participate, if I’m not to tired by the end of the day.
I have also registered. Like Cristina I’m also away. Back home in Wales until the end of October. I have my old laptop with me, so hopefully I will find some time to participate, if not I will do it at a later date. I often add Journaling, not reams of it. Sometimes a lot, others times not so much, depends on the project and the info it requires. II did this challenge 2yrs ago.
Thank you Mary. Yes, Tess, I had to say goodbye to her last August. She was 13. She loved the water. She would sit between my legs in the Kayak. My constant companion on the water, and when riding the horses. She was the granddaughter of Pip, who we brought from Wales with us. Smooth coated Border collie. I miss her every day, as I do all my four legged family.
My HOT page. I used one of Carole’s border punches for the frame. Created punched confetti to scatter from the photo.
Sand writing text, word art. Now I’m off to the Lake, as it’s 36c.
Unable to post in the Word challenge.
Carole, I see that the July WORD challenge HOT page, has a message saying ‘ this page is closed to new replies’. I’m unable to post in it.

Susan, thank you, I appreciate your vote. I’m even more pleased to read that my passion for the wonderful world of insects is rubbing off on you. Lol
Bonnie, thank you for voting, I appreciate you taking the time to vote. You can vote for as many entries as you want, but only once per entry, as Carole explained.
Corrie, Marie, that’s fantastic. Thank you for taking the time to view the entries and vote. You are all so kind, I love you all, and hold you all in great esteem.
Thank you ever so much Ann, Carole and Cristina for taking the time to take a look at the entries, and vote. I can still submit one more entry. What it will be I really don’t know as yet.
After deliberating with myself I have submitted 4 entries to the Corel macro contest. The standard of entries is very high, but, I’m in it for the fun of it. Again I would greatly appreciate it if you would take a moment or two to click on the links below, and click the heart button on the entries. Please and thank you! For those of you that either have a phobia of insects or just don’t like them, just grit your teeth, it wont be for long. Only joking!
Here is the other one I said I was going to do.
My dear Dawn, thank you ever so much. I’m always delighted to read that you, or anyone else enjoy my photography. I do try to showcase them the best I can. As my day draws to a close, yours is about to start. Our dear Annie, always used to say that she loved to peruse the campus first thing with a cuppa. Are you the same? 🙂 I don’t have a way with words like Annie used to have.
These pages are dramatically scaled down. For better viewing a much larger version is posted on FB. As I said, the 4K function on the camera doesn’t take as good a shot as a single one does, but it’s cool function to have.
Enjoy your day, whatever you may have planned.
Sue
July has been another busy month in the campus, so many wonderfully beautiful layouts. A joy to scroll through them all. For some reason my FB has been playing up, I haven’t been seeing everything that has been posted until a few days later. Also I’ve been making the most of the lovely summer weather. I can’t believe it will be August already next week.
The other day I took a series of photos using the 4K burst function on the camera. In other words it takes 30 frames per second. Anyway, sifting through the videos of images, I saved many photos. Arranging them in sequence. This is the result. The Robin dropped the one, but in a blink of an eye it caught it just before it landed. That photo was blurred, so I decided not to use it.
I have another one to do, using photos of a fledged Robin eating a blueberry. This particular layout is ideal to showcase such photos.
Lynda, Dawn, Cristina, thank you for your kind words. Your pages are always well executed.
Corrie, yet another beautiful page.
Everyone has done such great pages,
Thank you for your kind words Susan, using a photo for a background paper is something I like to use. You did a great job. Always remember not to let the background paper over power the page, my main aim is always to maintain focus on the photo/photos. That goes for elements too. The eye must always be drawn to the photo/photos.
In my first DIY I featured some of my lilies. I decided to feature one of my many, now Juvenile Robins. All juveniles have a spotted breast, the older one are now showing a little of the adult red breast, which actually isn’t red at all, but orange. All the Robins, and the Orioles are very clever, they pick out the small fresh blueberries before starting on the grapes. Because they swallow the blueberries in one gulp, unlike the grapes. blueberry jam in the dish.
Photo split, created a wide grungy border for the background paper, did it on a separate layer to change the colour, blur and noise. Seamless tiled a blueberries clipart. Darkened the edge of the top shape, and used the impasto script, which I won, on the middle shape. Extracted the dish from the photo, as the photo was far to large to include it in the split photo. The bow is an element I colourized.
I took some photos of the lilies in the garden today. Frames, out of bounds, and spiral text . Blinds texture on the top blue shape. I used several effects for the background, using a selection taken from a photo.
Susan, changing the shape to a raster just makes it easier to be creative with the text tool.
