Campus July Scavenger Hunt. I used Carole’s freebie template from the blog. I chose to showcase this Robin family. As the colour of denim matched the colour of the eggs perfectly. I do this on years when I’m able to monitor a nest, which is fairly easily accessible without causing any undue stress to the parents. Also other bird species. Due to the drought causing the lack of insects, the birds will purposely rear fewer young. Most of the Robin nests I’ve found this year, had two or three eggs, the norm, is 4. For the past 3 yrs I’ve maintained wet areas, as they need mud to create their nests. They start with dry material, for the foundation and them mud to line the inside, just like a plasterer would plaster walls, then a final layer of soft dry material to lay the eggs on. I created the gem stones, and placed them on the title text ROBIN. Created the threaded ribbon, torn paper, denim texture, and stars.
I managed to get a few hrs of kayaking in this morning, before the wind really picked up. Still very hot and dry. Yesterday it was 39c, today it was cooler 32c. This evening’s project, after going through and sorting out some of the best photos of insects, birds and mammals to be used in 2022 calendars. Anyway, instead of creating a title text I opted for something different. A tag. I even created the QR code. This is why I enjoy the Scavenger hunt challenges so much, when they come round in the campus. I like to create my own elements. Word Art.
This is a posh reference card. It wasn’t until I downloaded all the photos, that I noticed the green on the head. Initially I thought he had a dirty head.
Mary, a very nice page, the text is legible, may I suggest that, if you used a texture on the beige paper, you smooth it out a bit, or you could as you said use bold on the text. Saying that it’s fine as it is.
Many of you will know I love working with fonts, whether it’s word art or frames. I find vextors are more versatile to work with than rasters. I used one of Carole’s special fonts to create the outer frame, and one of her corner punch brushes on the photo and background paper. I do enjoy the Thrushes, although they are very shy. I also get the Veery, and the Brown Thrasher Thrushes. I have showcased and posted pages on those too.
I have scrolled through the bootcamp, all 5 pages. What an absolute feast for the eyes, and great inspiration not only for newbies, but for seasoned members like myself. I have to say that I am extremely impressed by the high standard of creativity and broad topics of each page posted from around the world. Each one of you should be proud of your achievements, whether you are newbies or not. I have previously participated in the bookcamp, and for those who are starting out for the first time with PSP or digital scrapbooking, or both, you are definitely in the right place. Keep up the wonderful work. It’s ever so rewarding to sit back, and say, yes I created this page, and I love it!
Annie, what can I say, your page is positively stunning. You are one very talented lady.
Mary, thank you for the kind comment, I’m pleased that you enjoy my postings, and they inspire you. Yes, it is a mask, which I created. If you are a Diamond member or subscribe to the Lab, you’ll find a tutorial showing you how to create that effect. It’s called block photo. There is also a block photo script in the store.
Mary, very nice cards, I see you have used the frayed edge tutorial on the place mat, you did a great job. Well done!
I have 2 grandchildren, I’ve yet to meet Merryn, she will be 1 next month. It was year last March when I was home last. Hopefully I’ll be able to travel soon.
This couldn’t have been quicker or more simple to create. A personal note will accompany this 5×7 card. All the techniques used can be found in many of the creative scrap/lab tutorials.
Revisiting some older techniques. The Eastern and Western Kingbirds, feed on the wing, like the Swallows they are aerial acrobats, feeding on the wing. You’ll often see them on fence posts, and wire.
Annie, thank you ever so much for your kind words. I agree with you 100% I’ve been reading about the flooding in Europe, and the sink holes.
Marie-Claire, beautiful page.
Susan, I’ve not long come in from kayaking, in spite of the smoke and the heat, which is 38c. I ‘ve had my 3 hr work out. Anyway, I’m now sitting here scrolling through the boot camp. What an inspiration everyone is, with such wonderful diverse layouts, and stories. Well done everyone!
I was quite overwhelmed reading your comment, where in it you mentioned me. I sincerely hope that I have inspired you, also a huge thank you for your very kind comment on my photography and how I showcase them. I must say it takes me longer to take the photographs, than it does to present them in a layout. Many on here will know that I’m not a scrapbooker. Primarily, I create greetings ecards, cards to post home to family and friends, also calendars. Through the campus I have learnt countless techniques to use. I can quite categorically say that you are definitely in the right place to maximise what PSP has to offer, and implement those techniques is your layouts. We are a small, friendly, helpful, supportive family. If it helps I always start with a photo, the photo then determines where I go from there. I like simple, minimalistic pages, always keeping the focus on the subject in the photo.
My goodness, just over half way through July and so many wonderful pages already posted. I’ve been a bit quiet on here, I’ve been out about, shooting material for new projects. There is always something interesting to photograph.
For those of you that dislike mice, jump on a chair now, before you look at the page! Like all rodents, the ground squirrels are excellent climbers, so I hung an old basket to a tree. I often use props for a photo shoot, I find goodies from charity shops. I used 2 photos, masks, word art. I was lucky enough to win the datestamp 10 script. This evening I was in a fun, whimsical frame of mind when I created this page. I hope it makes you smile.
July Freebie challenge. I thought I had better participate, so made this page earlier this morning, seeing as it’s not very nice outside today. I didn’t use the freebie template provided, I chose a different one. The Goslings are almost grown up now, these photos were taken in early May. The title “Goslings”, I presented a little differently, seeing as I used a water photo for the background paper. I also changed the direction of the corners, placing them inwards instead of outwards. (inverted) Temps are still in the 30’s, but now with smoke, from the wild fires in the north. The air is thick with smoke, resembling a foggy day. Thankfully I don’t have any health issues. Those with lung problems must take care.
Of course back then Vinnie was a footballer. Aso princess Anne, who is Parton of Save the Children fund. I was introduced to her at a dinner in London I was invited to, along with others, for my 25yr service to Save the Children Fund. Princess Dianna, waved to us, as she drove past our Welsh home, while en route to St Donats castle.
I have met, and chatted with Jason Stratham and Vinnie Jones, long before they were as famous as they are today in the film industry. At dinners, we invited them to as guests, to raise funds to promote the British countryside. Over 30yrs ago.
Mary, thank you for your kind comment. We learn far more than psp on here. Such a diverse group of creative friends from around the world.
I haven’t posted anything on here since the end of June. I have, on the other hand posted on the facebook page. I did take a bit of a break, making the most of being outside, even though it’s been extremely hot. Scrolling through the very lovely pages posted, I see it’s as busy as ever. Really lovely work everyone!
Another no kit layout. These are quick and easy to do once you’ve created the template. I could have used another three photos, but only wanted to showcase these two species of insects. The larval emerged from the pond to metamorphosis into this perfect, pristine male Cherry Faced Meadowhawk dragonfly. In a friend’s garden. Bee flies, are fuzzy pollinating flies, they average 6-9 mm in length. Far to hot to be out on the water, which means I can spend some time indoors on PSP. Even the insects have gone into hiding from the heat of the sun. Macro photography.
Richardson’s ground squirrel baby. I used this in a birthday ecard for a friend. From behind the lens of my camera, I like to share with you and others the beauty of Mother Nature. Sparking an interest and hopefully cultivating an optimism to which will open up conservation issues. Documenting the amazing species, to appreciate what is around us. Within this group, you are all nature lovers, and care for the environment.
We have 2 species of ground squirrel in Saskatchewan. The Richardson’s ground squirrels are commonly known as gophers, but they are not gophers. Gophers have crescent shaped holes that they plug at the top, creating a mound of dirt, while ground squirrels have open burrows that are about 5 inches in diameter. I love this LO, I can select lots of photos out of hundreds and showcase them. I reuse the guides template over and over. No kit 3 tutorial.
Posted in the facebook group on the 2nd July.
I do love my Tiger Lilies, they don’t flower until August, so I had to scroll through last year’s flower pics. A very simple LO using adjustment layers, and word art. Weather report update. We have been warned that the temps are meant to peak today, soaring to 42c in some areas. It isn’t mid day yet, and already it’s 37.3c. It isn’t supposed to be as windy as yesterday, so I will be heading to lake shortly. Meanwhile I hope you enjoy the Tiger Lily, and enjoy the rest of your Friday, wherever you may be.
I haven’t received any spam either. I have received and sent private messages though. I don’t understand why anyone would want to do that.
My dear friend Annie, my sentiments too! Thank you so much for your kind words. Hugs and kisses.
The heat wave continues, there isn’t any sign of it breaking either. The whole month of June has had temps in the 30’s. Celsius. I had another lovely afternoon on the lake in the kayak. Here is my last project for June. Text on a curve challenge.
Well I was up and out at 4am, to get done what needed to be done before it got to hot. Rode the horses, mucked out, everything was watered by 6am, ready to take on the heat. I did go kayaking, and swam for 3 hrs. By 3pm the temp was 41.9c. The weather report stated that the temps were going to peak today, and they did. Every morning I sit outside and wait for the squirrels to wake up, I have been feeding them carrots and bird seed, they eat while I shoot them (with the camera). I think I may have an infection of them, they are everywhere. Still on the Text on a path Challenge. I was in a framing mood. Word art, and I used the vector spiral to create the beads (tube) and wire, with the ivy weaved around it.
Annie, your love of seashells really does resonate through your page. Incredibly beautiful work.
Mary, thank you for your kind comment. I’m pleased that I have inspired you. May I suggest you use the rectangle tool to create your vector path to create the frame, instead of the instructions I gave. Use the horizontal and vertical tools on the top tool bar to create the rounded corners. Then write your text on each corner on separate layers. You may find it easier. You can then delete the rounded corners, after you covert the rectangle to a raster.
