(I made this image for a friend years ago and the pictures above reminded me.)
If you think that’s a small environment, take a close look at the yellow sub in this fish tank. That’s a squirrel peeking out of the first porthole!
DeLoris,
That’s a perfect image to illustrate the selective coloring technique! Love it!

We moved to Freeport LI when I was in 6th grade, then N. Babylon, then Smithtown! (My dad liked to move) I worked on F-105s at Republic Aviation in Farmingdale LI in the mid 60’s and Macarthur Airport (among others) while getting my commercial pilot’s license. Spent time at the Grumman facility in Calverton where the F-14s were tested.

Hello to Ed and Amy! I’ve never done scrapbooking either. Learning new techniques of compositing and manipulating photographic images is what I spend most of my days doing now that I’ve retired. BTW: Ed – Your painting with the Grumman Goose called the Orange Crate Express brought back memories. In the mid 1960’s I spent many hours working on Grumman sea planes at AeroTrades – a small repair facility on Long Island.
Pretty layout of amazing birds!
Dianne,
Very nice!

Thanks. I tried using the grey-scale method with varying success. Using a neutral grey “source” eliminates the blending and unpredictability of the resulting “target” color. But that still doesn’t explain why the “source” color box was put there in the first place. I have a feeling the software designers had something specific in mind for that function – why the many flesh tone pre-sets?
One other mystery – at least to me – what is the purpose of the “Freehand Selection” check box? Every time I check it, the software crashes. (PSP-X8) I’ve had the same thing happen in the past with PSP-X6)
Hi,
There’s a function called “Manual Color Correction” that I haven’t seen discussed anywhere. You can locate it by right clicking an empty spot on the PSP Edit screen. Select “Customize” from the drop down menue, then under Categories click “Unused Commands” and scroll down to “Manual Color Correction. I’ve attached a <snip> jpg of the window)
There are a number of pre-set skin-tone and other settings available. Also, a number of different methods of manually matching colors. I’d be very interested in a seminar demonstrating how to get the best results when using this feature – particularily when matching flesh tones.
I can’t provide a link to the May 1st live class, “Out of This World”, but here’s a Christmas card I made last year for a squirrel loving friend of mine.
