April Dawn….that is lovely! I’ve been thinking of trying to do my own version too, but I’m feeling a bit intimidated by the process. Marie-Claire’s inspiration really got us going!
In November each year, I work on Remembrance Day (Canada) projects to honour our veterans. I became involved in writing short biographies of individual ones for the local Legion Branch some years ago. The more I research and learn about their stories the more humbled I am by their lives.
This is simply a Facebook cover that I will add to my profile soon. I started with a simple design and then just threw everything at it (overlays, bevels, blending, etc.) until I got something I like.
When I first bought PSP in 2018 (I think), I was looking for a good photo-editing program to use on very old photos and newspaper images that I work with for articles I write. I didn’t have a clue how to use it, so then started the web searches to find help. I eventually found SBC (and Carole) and the rest is history. I have learned so much, and I find I am creating more and more projects than I could have imagined myself doing. My main interests are family history (mine and others’) and history of the small town where I grew up. The other stuff I’m able to do now is just for fun and to send to family and friends. This is a group of like-minded, clever, and creative folks who are so supportive. A good place to be, and to learn.
October was a very busy month with a big deadline for me on the last day. That has passed, and I’m exhaling with relief.
When I saw (and grabbed) Marie-Claire’s lovely Autumn Memories template, I just wanted to get on it, but it had to wait. I was able to work with it (much to my surprise) and came up with this. Wee ghosties are Carole’s picture tubes. Photo is one I took at the dog park where I often walk. I love autumn so much and just want to try and capture the amazing colours all around.
Thanks for sharing M-C.
Susan Ewart – that’s funny! The news bit. I wish more of the hourly news was as banal as that!
For some time when the schedule permits: How to add text to a .png banner so it fits the curves? The banner is downloaded from somewhere. It is attached here. I have not conquered “text on a path” yet. Thanks.
I posted this in another Forum area, wrong place.
I teach tech classes to seniors (not so much during pandemic, of course!), and I like to have a desktop background that is fun or relevant to the season or day. My screen appears on a bigger screen so they can easily see what I’m doing.
Carole’s free ghosts got me going. I just love them! This is what I did.
I RE POSTED this into the What are you working on section, where it should have gone in the first place. Unable to delete from here. Sorry.

Even though it felt a bit pressured sometimes (b/c I couldn’t find some pieces for so long), it was a clever and fun way to get us to “tour” the whole site. But I imagine it was a lot of work for you, Carole. Thanks for hints and clues and cheering us along the way. I was also really glad when I got the last piece and put it together.
It’s finally put together and sent to Carole. I think I made it in time before the deadline. I found the last, long-sought-for piece #9 just last night. Whew.
Oh Carole, now I learn that the pieces don’t need to be rotated or flipped! And someone else mentioned they go into the base in the order they are numbered!!!!! Now, I just HAVE to go back and start again with inserting the pieces! Thanks for encouragement all. But not tonight….sleep.
I’m so done! I found all but #9. Tried to fit the pieces, got 8 in their places on top half, then went crazy with flipping and rotating and losing the remaining pieces as they jumped around. Couldn’t take anymore. But it was fun and addictive. And I’m glad I tried it.

I went back to it last night, found more but still missing two: #9 and # 13. It is fun trying to fit the pieces into the base. I have marked so many locations I want to go back to to use some of the amazing resources I wasn’t aware of before. This has been a brilliant “tour” of the site.
Right off the start, I was able to find nine balloon clues. Then I had to leave it behind. Tried again today to find some more, but I am bleary-eyed with looking. Think I’ll just put together what I have and try another time, before the fun expires.
Darn! I’ve been trolling through the site (and learning a lot about where things are) and have got some of the pieces. But today I can’t work on it much, have to be out. It’s bloody addictive! Good work Carole!
Oh Rene! I had to smile at your Wizard of Oz story. When I was very young, I was terrified by Disney’s Fantasia. Years later, when I watched it, I could understand why a child might be shaken by it. But I was able to watch it again.
Just got to finish (more or less) Day 4, the sports themed layout. Something went wrong with one word in the text, and I didn’t have the energy to fix it. Maybe another time…..
This sounds interesting. I’m sure it’s lots of work on the backend, but you’re a whiz at this, so it will be great!
Dr. Zhivago!!! OMG, that brings back some memories, CORRIE. I loved that film and saw it many times. I chuckled at your story of “misbehaving” by skipping out to see the movie. Such an innocent act of mischief, by the standard of any time period. I would have let it slip, somehow, at home that I had seen it, I’m sure, and been caught out.
I had to think a bit to decide which story about “mischief” I could tell. Haven’t thought of this one for many years! But I remember the smears of lipstick all over the bathroom – the towels, the mirror, the sink, my hands and lips! I don’t remember what happened after I was caught red-handed, so to speak, but I’m sure I didn’t do it again, at least for a while!
Got the font issue worked out…just a small thing that I overlooked (as usual). This is Day 2 StoryTime.
I got stuck on Day 2 template. Everything was going fine until I was trying to add text. Then I couldn’t change the font colour and the whole thing was a bust! Still working on it. But this is a rather full-schedule time for me, and some of it is paid work, so that has to come first. <sigh>
Gerry, that’s a powerful recollection of a real catastrophe. Too frightening to even consider!
Such fun projects! And everything so individual and creative. Love it.
Hey SUE THOMAS – I too was glad to read your post and find you are in the wilds of Wales! I know there will be so many amazing pix coming home with you. Enjoy every moment. And when you have time, could you teach me how to pronounce the Welsh words?
I was out all day yesterday when Story Time began. I had to rush to put something together. Very basic.
This is what I did with the watercolor technique. Nothing too fancy, just a photo of my boy in the grass on a hot day.

Marie-Claire – that’s beautiful. I work a lot with old pix and I really admire what you did with yours.
Yippee! Marking this on my calendar. I really benefit from these sessions.
Mary, isn’t it great how many different projects come out of the challenge. Yours is so beautiful and such a lovely tribute to the wedding couple.
