A change of colour for me this time and I think I will go back and make the frame wider and perhaps another colour .
It was great to see all the talent and imagination displayed on the pages during this Boot Camp and there is always something new to learn in the Paintshop Pro program.
Thanks Carole for running this course and sharing your knowledge.
Love Cindy’s enthusiasm (and her pages) it is quite catching!! So many interesting pages, great work being produced.
I am still on the same colour theme with my page, I went a little off course from the tute but think I covered all the elements and it was nice to learn a couple of new things again – the erasure cutting and the border selection both will come in handy. My centre paper was cut from one of the photos and I never used any paper strips. The back ground was once again a photo, actually the bottom right one using the Simple 4 way average filter. The autumn leaves this time were a tube. Changing the colours of the main heading didn’t look right to me on this page but I did it on the smaller wording.
One thing I notice Carole you always ‘accept’ when using the text tool, that is something I had never done until the Wise Words challenge but I find it is not always available to click after the very first typing. Is it important to accept? What does the accepting actually do? Thanks.
Once again it is great to come and see the amazing pages being produced ..(umm Cindy you might like to change your spelling of Friendship – sorry hope you don’t mind me saying). What a great birthday present from your son.
Today I broke my own rule something I rarely do.. . right near the end of my page I closed a window I thought I was finished with BUT it was my main window and I lost everything. I am usually paranoid about at saving all the way through work that I do after learning my lesson early on. As I was making my papers as I went I had to re do those as well. I didn’t use glitter but a combination of airbrushing and mosaic antique and colourised till I found something I liked. The papers and photos are all mine including the words (I can’t remember what I had for the last line).. the leaves are the only element used that I didn’t make.
Mary Solaas, firstly your great grandchildren have gorgeous smiles! and I like the way you present your projects. I love seeing the ideas of others and how they are presented, there is always something to learn.
The 4 way average I used is one of a set of Simple filters (Simple is the name of the set). I am sorry but the filter is not part of Paintshop but is an addon, and yes for my panel I took a selection of the wall from the original photo and added it as a layer to my page. Thanks for your comments and interest 🙂
Not overly happy with the papers (all mine) but this is for my son and these are the colours he wants. The plaid and texture of the smaller papers don’t show very well when reduced and the background paper actually started as wattle flowers. The picture is of rooms that used to house the single miners and the smaller one is an old radio on site.
Loving the imagination and ingenuity of the pages posted here…. I look and think what a great idea how effective and how come I don’t think of something like that!!
My background is the same image as in my photo using the simple 4way average filter. The panel is taken from the photo and the frame is from a tutorial I liked. The autumn leaves are supposed to represent the passing of time.
The photo was taken by me in Gwalia, West Australia.
Afternoon snack – no pickles for me! and the handle of the cup turned to the right (as drilled into me by my mother!) with teaspoon and lace cloth. I did have a small vase of flowers but decided to remove them.
Hi everyone, I have been using Paintshop for many years starting back in the early Jasc days but while I have blended/merged/masked photos and made collages etc I have little to no experience of Scrap booking apart from following a scrap tutorial from time to time, which I am sure is nothing like what this Bootcamp will be like. I recently completed the Wise Words Challenge and enjoyed learning various ways to enhance text. There is always something new to learn and with many folders of photos sitting idle on my pc I am looking forward to working with them and turning them into something meaningful.
Only one thing I have changed on my workspace is going back to the classic materials pallet thanks to Carole for that info.
I also used the snipping tool and found it useful ..but now I use Snip and Sketch which I think may be replacing the snipping tool – I can’t remember if I had to download it or if it is included in Win10. (Press Win logo+Shift+S) if it is by default there that will open it.
I hope to work on images from a visit to a small outback town in Australia called Gwalia… a young Herbert Hoover was the general manager of the mine there in the late 1800’s. It is now called a living ghost town and there are old houses you can wander through. The pics below are of Hoover house in early days (internet pic) and one I took a couple of years ago.
Wise words Day 7 – Shells
For some reason this took ages to work for me I kept ending up with the colour of my text cut out and not the picture BUT eventually it worked and although I thought I did the same thing every time following the tutorial something must have changed. I will need to practice this. Previously I have used the cutter button but this way gives more options to adjust the text.
Thanks Carole for the Wise Word Challenge .. it is always fun to learn new ways of doing things in paintshop and your tutorials are most informative. I have loved seeing all the work posted and amazed at the talent and imagination shown in the creations. So my thanks also to everyone who participated and made it enjoyable. The photos I used for the challenges are all taken by me.
Rope text day 6 .. Silo Art is amazing and we have quite a few ‘trails’ to follow the silo art, it also provides tourism for smaller towns.
Loving all the amazing work by everyone… so much talent and very inspirational!
Carole, I have Paintshop 2020 Ultimate but I don’t have the same (or cannot find!) the materials properties palette that you have. I like how yours displays, have you adjusted it or am I missing something in my setup? This is what I have.
Day 5 – Lightning .. this was a photo I took during a storm last year. I did use texture but it didn’t show up very well so I ended up duplicating and converting to a raster layer and a little drop shadow. I had a plain background and changed it to a pattern hoping for a more translucent effect but it didn’t maybe my colours were too dark. Thanks for the link on using a template Carole … I had a little play and need to do more.
Thanks Vicki yes ANZAC day is a very special day and was certainly different this year but in saying that I think people really made an effort and were maybe even more aware. I love your remembrance honouring your uncle.
Day 4 Beach – These are all photos I took on holiday at Broome last year.
I have not really used templates before and I struggled a bit trying to work out how it worked – I need to practice using them.
Sat 25th April is ANZAC day (Australian New Zealand Army Corps) which marks the anniversary of the first campaign that led to major casualties for Australian and New Zealand forces during World War One and commemorates all the conflicts that have followed since.
Day 2 – Empty Seats – seems appropriate for today with us all staying home
Love all the Wise words! My pc is updating so will post my effort when it decides to let me.
i am on my iPad atm and am unable to open the story link. Is anyone else having that problem? The boots opened just fine.
