Bonnie, thank you! After some trial and error I think I got it right, so your comment is a relieve!
My letter O stands for “Odekerkpark”, a parc in the centre of Etten and named after Mayor Odekerk (1960 -1976) who played an important role in the development of the village. It has 2 statues: “De Evolutie” (The evolution) which symbolizes the quick growth after worldwar two and “De uitvliegende vogel” (The bird leaving the nest) and it is a phenix leaving its stylised nest of branches. In my templates I didn’t have one I liked for this letter but I had an illustration of a template with a rather thick passe-partout that I liked. So tried my hand at making my own. The rest is in keeping with my alphabet.
V = Vacation
S = Special
P = Playful
Dawn, very sweet and lovely cards in gorgious colors! It’s so nice seeing your work here again. I have to look into the Grafic Fairy and the Eye Candy plugin now; more to do then, I haven’t time enough for all this wonderful things, especially because I’m also following a lot of the older masterclasses at the moment. The list for things to do when winter comes is growing and growing……
Carole, this is really simple to use and gives me all the info for that particulair Lab I need! So a big thumbs up and a big thank you!!!! It is a lot better then the list I made for my own use and the templates are visible.
Mary a lovely page! I like your crayon rubbing leaves and a reminder for me because I have them too and have never used them. I’ll have to search where I put them.
M = Making Memories
Pirkko, nice and simple and it shows how different pages can be with the same starting point.
Hi Dawn thank you, it was a funny page to do. The older masterclasses have so much info on how to make things that are basic in a way, just like the blackboard. I am going to look into others as well. Nice to see you around these days,
Corrie
I have been looking into a couple of masterclasses about PhotoGrafics because I was intriged by the blogpost about those effects mentioned in the Campus newsletter of last week. I made a watercolor/sketch from one of my photos of Rotterdam and used it on the layout for this random challenge. I placed it on a blackboard which has a small metal frame and a couple of smudges (also explained in the masterclass). The brads from my stash are suppost to be magnets to hold the drawing in place, assuming the board is magnatic too. The letters and numbers, the freebie from the store this weekend, are in the rainbow colors and have been smudged too. For a change it is nice to make a mess that I don’t have to clean up afterwards.
J = Jealousy and this can end a frienship!
G = Gifts – friendship can be a gift and gifts maintain a friendship!
D = Drinks
I just want you to know that I think this is a major improvement for the Labs! The jump link brings you to the lab, but the best is that you now are able to see what is in that Lab. I have spend so much time to go through all the labs, opening them and scrolling through them to see which template is in it. I even made a list for my own use with the lab number and the 3 topics, but I still have to search for the templates. Speaking for myself I will be very happy with this list and thank you so much for all the work it takes to set this up!!!
Dawn thank you for your comments, it means a lot to me and yes I was very happy with how the text looked.
Pirkko thanks and you did a great job yourself and nice you gave an explanation on how you did some of it!
A = Adventures you have had together!
Sue thank you, your comments mean much to me, they are very encouraging and I will take a look at that masterclass!
Carole I already tried your suggestion but somehow it did not look good. By rotating the photo, run the script as is and then rotating back again I get a distortion of the slats, especcially the main one around the important part of the photo. That is why I asked this question. Maybe it can work on a photo that has no specific focalpoint, but why using the slate script on such a photo!
Carole as you can see above I used the Diamond Slats Script and it makes the slats horizontal. Is there a way to tweek the script or the outcome of it to make them vertical? Just rotating deforms them.
A couple of days ago I visited a botanical garden (“Heemtuin”) in Rucphen, a neighbouring village, and of course took a lot of photos. For the word Heemtuin I used the reflection technique, one of the techniques explained in the masterclass Title Works 1 and I did so because the yellow flower is called sedum reflexum. I did not completely follow the sketch but adapted it to my likinig. The insects are from my stash and I don’t know exactly but I think they were in a set by Creative Fabrica. The background is from a photo with a lot of blur and some texture. Instead of journaling I used the diamond slats on the photo to make a kind of arrow, but it has 6 slats!
Sue, thank you for pointing me to those mastersclasses and I see that you used another of the techniques on your text. It are very informative classes with a lot of simple techniques.
That is one impressive library!
This is my letter N in the Alphabet Album about Etten-Leur. It is all about the newly build centre for everything cultural. It opened on April 1st 2022 and has: a theater, library, a place where you can lend toys (speelotheek) , all kinds of artcourses, poppodium, events etc. Its name comes from Justus de Nobelaer, an influcential 17th century lover of the arts who lived here. The great theater hall the Justus honors him too. In fact all the different halls are named after some one that plays a role in our community. The central point of the building, designed by the architect Roel ten Bras, is an open space with a big bar in the middle for a coffee, drinks or lunch.
W = Walking (and chatting at the same time)
U = Unique
R = Remember the days/things/adventures we had together
Dawn, such lovely cards and an inspiration to me for making new cards as well! I’m very glad you are back with us and there is no reason at all to be nervous to post your work. I’m looking forward to more of this.
Sue I already commented on Facebook on this lovely bird! Although we have had the longuest day of the year I personally don’t want to think of Christmas yet! I like the opportunity for making more flower photos, so I have new ones for the coming months besides my American photos.
