Mary I love your Lord of the Rings layout for the L. We have all the books  and the DVD’s  as well and we are rewatching them once in a while on a rainy winter’s day.

Finally I have something to show. I did the Story Time Challenge, as it was called then, two years ago and I will not repeat the stories I told, so I’m going another route and will tell you more about myself. I probably will use the extra templates for the Diamond members but maybe I will have to turn to the quickpages if I really run out of time. I said before that there is so much going on here at the moment, good and bad that I find it difficult to concentrate on this workshop when time allows me to do so.

This is the story of how I came to love photography and I used the day 1a template with a kit called Golden Hour from cpjes with one of my own photos as a background. The camera came from my stash and the font is Perfect Script. And now up to day 2.

I’m a bit late in joining but sometimes life happens and there are other pressing matters to attend to. I just have time enough to see and read what lovely and interesting pages are done . Hopefully I’ll be able to catch up.

Cindy what a touching and sad story and I think you can be proud of that name. I’m so sorry to hear you mother ran away without you, maybe she thought that was the best thing she could do for you when she was unable to take care of you herself.

I know now that the watercolorbrushes did work and I finished it. I put a simple background behind from 2 papers blended together with the blend mode set to burn and a low opacity. Plus the name of the lake.

Good morning Carole and seeing a black brush on a white surface I know understand why I thought the brush wasn’t rotating. The brush do rotate but only on the paper while it keeps its original form that I choose and that let me think it didn’t rotate. Being a watercolor brush on the checkerboard I simply couldn’t see it clearly. Thank you for answering a “stupid” question!

                    See you in the workshop

Carole I have a problem with the watercolor brushes. I  am working on a photo and my watercolorbrush stays the same it doesn’t  rotate! All the settings are as in the TUT including those for the brush varience. I have checked and checked but I cann’t find what I’m doing wrong. I included a screenshot in the hope that it is big enough for you to see. So please help.

Just as Rene I had some trouble finding something for the letter Q. But in my village as in many others, we have a lot of oaktrees (Eikenbomen) lining streets and in parks and the Latin name for Oak (Eik) is Quercus. In preparation for this letter I took some photos of the Oak. But there is a problem with the trees nowadays caused by a caterpillar that lives only on and around oaks. It’s called the “eikenprocessierups”  or the “oak processionary caterpillar” and its fire hairs are causing extreme itching on peoples bare skin with red spots. When those tiny hairs come in your eyes you have to go a doctor immediately. Among many others it happened to me too and I got special medication to avoid an infection or worse. On many trees in Mai, June and July there are warning ribbons to indicate that there is a nest in the tree and you can see sometimes hundreds of them crawling on the trunk and branches. When they purpate the hairs become airborne and the wind or birds distribute them. At first the caterpillars  were eliminated by spraying the trees with chemicals but that killed all the other insects as well.  A kind of big vacuum cleaner, handled by guys in protective gear, collects them and they are burned to get rid of the hairs for good. Also a lot of trees have nesting boxes for the coletits who happen to love them and feed their young on it.

I used a template from Lab 12-1, but I’m not sure Carole will recognize it after I changed it a lot and in the end it was more a starting point. The acorns were in my stash, the leaves are picture tubes and the background has a wooden texture.

The problem is solved and in the end it is a really fundamental issue, so I post the solution here if others get the same problem in the future. Thanks to my husband who in the end came up with it after trying all the other more basic options.

The new external SSD drives are from Samsung and my Windows 11 PC Explorer could read them. The backup that I use is done in Windows 11 which you find in the Configuration screen. We it is set up by making the selections what should be updated by hand and not using the automatic command. And there comes the problem, in that selection window the new Samsung E drive isn’t there. Samsung uses the format Samsung:exFAT to format the new drives and Windows Back-UP does not recognize that. So my husband formatted those new drives with de Windows format NTFS and yes that did the trick. Samsung has used a new format that is not yet compatible with Windows.

Hi James, yes I can and yes we tried it, but no… In the mean time my husband has solved the problem and I will post the solution in a new post in this topic for others who may encounter the same issue in the future because it is really fundamental. Thank you for trying to help.

I have the HighKeyMonochrome_blue and HighKey_BlackWhite scripts and I’m pretty sure they were a freebie by Corel quite some time ago. I experimented a bit with them and on this photo I used the Monochrome blue script and it works indeed with adjustmentlayers and you can change the blue adjustmentlayer to another color for a different effect. After a while Corel often have the same freebies, so keep your eyes open.

I’m glad there are some extras for the diamond members too, I have come to like that because then I don’t have to redo the ones I already did, this makes it more interesting. Carole thank you for that.

As soon as I saw this palette it made me think of a photo I took some time ago of a Hibiscus flower. I’m not yet in the mood for a fall layout, we are in the middle of a heat wave at the moment with temperatires around 33 Celsius which is a lot for the Netherlands! I used an Artsy template; made a gradient for the background paper and gave it a textured look with the textured overlay script and toned the colors somewhat down; made a picture tube from the extracted flower; a text frame and a datestamp with a script too. All the scripts and the template are by Carole.
