G = Giant Heart Cockle
How lovely made and such nice words (I can read a little French) to send you off on your retirement track! Try to enjoy at least the somewhat slower pace of life!
I took a couple of photos of the Lime tree (Linde, Basewood) right in front of our house and I needed a card too. Here is the combination of both, I wish I could attach the amazing smell of the flowers as well. Along my route when I go shopping (by bike) there are a lot of those trees and the smell makes it so nice to drive through those streets!
I used a photo with a heavy blur as background then the flowers with a mask, simple frame and a quote. Carole’s cornerpunches and a selection of one flower inside a little frame made with a font.
D = Dog whelks This theme game is a difficult one for me because I don’t know a lot of shells by name, even in Dutch let alone in English! A lot of using google or the directionary, so maybe I won’t be that active over here.
Ann: I know the feeling, it was my first big challenge too! I’m glad you liked my introduction to The Netherlands because of your link to my country! It was really fun to make this on; last year I did it about my trip to the States to visit my daughter and the grandkids who had just moved there.
Thanks for all the comments! Minka, I sympathize with you, when my computer brooke down 3 month ago it took me weeks to get everything working again in the way I wanted! And then a barn reno too, good luck!!!
To conclude this Travel Tale I did an extra page, otherwise my “Tale” had an open ending. Again same colorpalette and font and I included some of the things we learned to make.
It was great to do this challenge for the 2nd time and see all the different wonderful pages that were done!
Day 7 of my Travel Tale about the city of Amersfoort and after all the history it brings us back to the modern times with a little info about Piet Mondriaan, a famous painter. To be consistent, same colors and font. This time I used the blinds effect on the blue paper and a ribbon made with the ribbon factory script. I engraved my name in a big stone to match the story. The background is made by using a photo, blend mode and reduced opacity.
Carole congratulations on your retirement and nice to hear your were send off with a party. I’m sure you will like your new “free time” althought I’m pretty sure it will be filled to the max very soon!
My stamps do have holes in them, but indeed on the resized version it is not very clear to see. On the full page there is no problem at all.
Annie thanks and I like your last day of the travel tale, beautiful!
Ann sorry to hear that your eye surgery isn’t very soon to happen but you have made a lovely “trip”to Africa. I hope that you can visit my country sometime in the future, I think you’ll love it!
My day 6, again with a bit of history and the photos to match. I tweaked the template again to get what I had in mind. Same colorpalette and font. For better visibility I uploaded the postcard separately (Ann for you) and that font is Amsterdam, very appropriate for this project don’t you think?
Ann, no problem, here is my stamp and it reads: nulpunt Rijksdriehoeksmeting Kadaster which translates approximately to: point zero trigonometry for landregistry. I can add: this is no longer used in daily landregistration because there were way to many mistakes made concerning the plus and minus. For that purpose the point zero lies now somewhere outside the Netherlands on sea, which makes that all of the country is now in the same quadrant. However it is still used for making clear where the north, east, south and west parts of the country are.
The coming pages will have more info on your heritage!
Annie, love your day 5 and 6!
This is day 5, I had to do some google search, because I didn’t have all the brochures of that little trip any longer but I found what I needed. Again I tweaked a template for my needs because those that come with this challenge don’t always match my photos. And again I used a photo to make the background, same colorpalette and the paper with the text is made by using textures – blinds. The font is Baskerville Old Face, a freebie from Creative Fabrica if I’m not mistaken!
Well Annie that is mutual my friend! I in turn learn a lot about Australia. Watch out for my next pages in the coming days because I plan to add more historie. The town of Amersfoort, at least the old mediaval centre of it, is full of such interesting facts. It really is a juwel and famous for it too.
Gerry what a spectaculair route! I would love to see it for real.
Here is my day 4 with a story about the “Koppelpoort” and the tag which has the silhoutte of those gates. This historic gates are a landmark for Amersfoort. All the photos are from that location seen in- and outside the gates. I even used a photo of it for the background with the blend mode set to luminance and a reduced opacity in order to make it less dominant. As I said before I will use the same colorpalette throughout this challenge. There were a lot of doves flying around, so I put some on the page.
V = Vatican City
I’m doing something different with this palette and use it for the Travel Tale Challenge. I like to have coherent colors for the challenges that have a theme and this palette let me show my photos in a nice manner. So all the explanations will go there. I just posted this one here to let you know what I’m up to.
Here are my day 1, 2 and 3, all on one double page. I waited for the poststamp on day 3 before I finished my page. That’s the advantage of doing this challenge for the 2nd time! I reused the Holland-template I have and the flowerbunch which I made earlier. I like to have a more or less set colorpalette for all the pages I’ll make because they belong together. This time I will use the palette from the recent colorpalette challenge because it has nice colors to showcase my photos.
There is not much to show yet, but this are the contours of two provinces of the Netherlands with the yello spot being the city where we went for a short citytrip in 2018. It is not very far from where we live, approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes; for some of you just around the corner…… We went to Amersfoort, it has an old mediaval citycentre and thanks to very fine weather for november it was a splendid visit.
Lynda, I know what you are going through, we did this 4 years ago after living in the same house for 44 years. It isn’t an easy process but in the end we are very glad we did it! Wish you all the best.
T = Turkey
Hi everyone, you all have been busy, to much to comment on individually but it was a pleasure to browse!
At the moment we have an explosion of poppies! The conditions for them are ideal at the moment; we had a cold and wet winter and spring and now it is warm. Poppyseeds can lay dormant in the ground for up to 50 years and now they germinate. I took the photos this week and new inmediate what I wanted to do with them. I used this lovely template frame that Sue Thomas made available a couple of weeks ago and I also used the alphasheet from Annie Tobin for the word POPPY. The background is made from a bad and fuzzy photo that I blurred to the max and then a blend mode (hard light) and reduced opacity. It took some google time to find a quote that fitted.
Annie, very nice and informative and truly in your own unique style, love it my friend!
Marie-Claire, very cleverly done!
Since we already had the only country with a Q I’m going for
Q = Quebec
N = North Pole
I’ll be there too for a second go at this challenge. Just as the most of us I haven’t traveled in the last year, but I have a lot of photos from a citytrip a couple of years ago and I will use those. I’m looking forward to many beautiful pages!
Annie thank you, I’m always happy with your comments! I love the wordart on your lightning page!
Lynda you did Bob Dylan proud! I had thought of that song too but I have no photos for it and I like using my own photos if possible.
For this challenge I knew immediately what to make because I have a nice photo of a double rainbow. I used the photo to make the background and pasted the rainbow part of the photo on it. The bluebird comes from the internet, we don’t have bluebirds over here, so I have no photos of them. The label is made by using the technic from the last masterclass. The music I had in my stash and I think I found it on pngwing.com. The font is Calligraphy.
K = Kazakhstan
H = Hungary
D = Dominican Republic
Sorry Annie, the blend mode was difference (I checked, should have done that before!) with 61% opacity. The above mentioned I used at first and later changed it to this one.
