When I started scrapbook I really had no clue what so ever on the techniques used and I didn’t immediately took the Diamond Membership after I finished Bootcamp and the Basic Scrapcourse. At that point I followed the introduction to the Diamond Membership which you give I think twice a year or so. I felt that it would be too much because I didn’t feel comfortable yet with all the basic techniques. I learned a terrific lot by participating in all the challenges and the chance to watch the videos over and over again until I got a more or less good result. Also the tips given to the others helped me understand what I was doing. Now I have the Membership and because of this period I know now what I want to learn and what isn’t my forte at all. So I can concentrate more on the creative side of scrapping. When joining I still did feel a bit overwhelmed by the shear content of it. I didn’t started doing whole Labs but I pick what I want to use from the creative scrap, the labs and the masterclasses. That there is an index now with the creative scrap is very welcome and something similar for the labtutorials would be great. What I found confusing is that there are items in the creative scrap which happen to have the tutorial in a Lab and are not on their own. The printouts are helpful until I know that particulair item by heart (flairbutton for example).My advice for absolute newbies would be take it slow!
I think we skipped C!
C = Chocolate
Trish you have been busy, beautiful work on all those frames!
I would definitely be very happy with tutorials/classes on the lesser-known tools (the pentool!) and an extra FilterForge. Photo manipulations sounds good too.
A = Advent calendar, maybe a bit late for this year now
Anne did you first save as a jpg and then as a psp? I have had a similar problem once and I think you should first save as a PSP ans later as a jpg, that gives you the opportunity to change or add things on a later moment.
For the palette challenge I have made a pin-board (I hope that’s the correct English word) with a lot of elements that I made earlier. The two blues and the white are in the Hello Winter flairbutton, the red and green are in the star pins and I changed the colors of my elf name. I used the December Daily again and also the cards and envelope. For the stamps I used a template from Carole with some christmaspictures I have in my stash.
Trish they both are lovely, but the last one is my favourite because of the restraint colours. Most of the time I like those better.
Althought I’m very happy with the offer Sue made to let us choose which of her trees we would like to get, I wanted to try to make something similar. I love the idea and I know Sue likes to inspire and teach us and that is very much the case here. In my fonds I found a suitable one and I used a background from InkyDeals that I have in my stash.
Wow Sheila that was a lot of work! Very nice.
T = Tea (an opportunity to rest your feet and check your shopping list)
That’s a great and very welcome addition! I have made a list of my own but it’s of course somewhere in my computer, which means I have to look there first and then search in the campus. So thanks for making things easier.
Q = Questionmark, if in doubt what to buy
I’m certainly coming in the spirit seeing all the glorious snowy frames! I almost wished we had snow overhere but the weather is extremely mild at the moment but very cloudy and gloomy! Luckely all the christmas deco is up en the little lights are on all day. This is my snowy frame with pastel colors. I have a freebie from Creative Fabrica with pastel colors and this is an opportunity to use some of it and it’s a change from all the traditional red and green. I still have to make frames for the freebie challenge!
Here is the 2nd version of the Happy Challenge. Yesterday I wasn’t completely “happy” with the result and today I have changed the bottom of the image a bit so the sharp line between the frame and the bottompart is more or less hidden. I like this better.
M = Macy’s
Here is my Happy page and when you say happy I, in this time of the year, think immediately of Holidays and I used the Elf-Alpha that Carole gave us for the title. The frame is a freebie by Corel and I put my shopping bags on the page. I debated with myself if I shouldn’t have extended outside the frame and I’m still not sure, what do you think?
I = Ink for the printer, to print all those lovely cards and calendars
G = Groceries – more a duty then for pleasure, but we have to eat!
Sue it’s a problem with the postal services, you never know. My daughter says the grandkids haven’t decided what to put on their wishlists and they have their birthdays around Christmas too. Last year they made a wishlist on the Amazon site and they probably will do so again, but I fear even if I order on the American site the presents either are sold out or will be definetivly to late. But if mum thinks it’s okay….. I posted all the cards hopefully in time. For Europe I’ll post them this week and domestic can wait another week.
Thanks for posting your envelopes, I know about the creative scrap tutorial and made my one for another project with a recipe inside. I have it also as a PSP-image so I can change it.
D = Delicacies
Ann I love your frosty frame and the fish are cute.
Helen nice tree, something to put on card; and good to see you here again!
Anne I know how restricted your time is with a loved one in hospital and recovering. My husband had to have surgery almost a year ago and it took much longer then expected, but it’s worth while caring for your husband and help his recovery. You will get time for scrapping again.
Sue very nice and your tag is great. The envelope reminds me I have made a couple too and I have cards that are waiting to be printed, but I’m out of ink. I’ll have to order it asap because delivery is very slow at the moment and we don’t have a shop here anymore. Maybe I’ll follow your lead on this (again)!
I played around with the shopping bag freebie and made this one which I’m probably going to use on a card. I changed the color of the bag to red and made the papers a bit more matching before placing them in the bag. I already had made the snowglobe and the other 2 presents are from my stock. Made a tag and a rope.
W = Walmart
At first I thought I have no shopping related photos and I very seldom use photos from the internet, but then I remembered that I had taken a few pictures when I was visiting my daughter in the States. After seeing many films, documentaries, newsitems about America I was still very much surprised by the scale of the shoppingmalls and shops. Althought there are shops that feel more European in size and assortment. I have a America kit in my stash that I got from DigitalScrapbook.com and maybe I use it when I can visit/travel again. But it’s a great kit for this Shopping Challenge and I used some elements, my photos and a template by Carole. The word shopping is a font: USA NATION and the word USA is a sticker from the kit.
O = Open all hours
I have taken the time to read and watch some older masterclasses and some creative scrap tutorials to use what I learned with my christmas cards and this is one of the results. Sue T used adjustments layers in on of her cards and that prompted me to watch the masterclass about that topic because I haven’t used those until now, so Sue thank you for endless new possibilities! I also watched how to wrap a rope around a frame, it’s not perfect yet but for this card it will do. I put some spruce between the rope and the frame with small pointsettia for a bit of color. The font is Merry Jolly, a freebie by Creative Fabrica from yesterday.
D = Delivery
Yes after all the psp problems I finally finished this layout. I had to start all over again because I probably didn’t save some of it and I had a bit lost my train of thought and didn’t know what I originally wanted to do! To be sure there was not some virus I had to run a deep scan my PC which also costed me half an evening. But better save then sorry.
Two of the photos I got from a friend and they gave me the idea for a winter theme. TVhe camouflage paper I made using one of the photos and the scallops are on it and on the little blue paper. The background paper has an overlay of snow. The mooncluster I have in my stash and I think it came from Creative Fabrica a long time ago. Further the kidnap alpha and the silhouettes. I hope the next week will be quiet on the computer front!
