First of all, come and say HI once you register for this challenge.
We want to know who else will be there, on our side to challenge us.
Every page we will be making, will be different, based on each others’ photos, stories, and preferences but we can all get inspired by everyone’s projects.
Once the Challenge is started, on October 23rd, you can post your pages in here.
Remember to resize your image to about 600 pixels before uploading it so it won’t slow down the site when we have lots of your masterpieces.
Now, let’s get ready and stay … up-to-date!
(if you missed the registration link or if you found this thread before I announce it, HERE it is)

October 11, 2017 at 4:21 am #15277Hi Cassel, I have just joined and hope to enjoy doing your latest challenge… never been any good at forums so I hope this is the right place to be writing all this .. Daphne
October 11, 2017 at 5:57 am #15278Welcome Cristina, Marlene, Anya, Shirley, Rizzi, Daphne. Take this time to browse and pick your favorite photos for this challenge. And you can always share the registration page with some friends too.
October 11, 2017 at 6:29 am #15279Hi Cassel, For the challenge can the pictures be done in psp and do they have to be a certain size..?? many thanks
October 11, 2017 at 8:29 am #15280Daphne, the pictures can easily be simple photos directly from your camera. Of course, you can edit them in PSP but you don’t have to. The size of the pages will use 2400 pixels wide images but if you have them larger, I’ll show you what to do. If they are slightly smaller, I’ll show you what to do. If they are really much smaller, you might want to consider a different picture OR make a collage with others, but I’ll also address that.
Hope it helps.
October 11, 2017 at 7:39 pm #15284Hello to Everyone….. I have been registered for this challenge and looking forward to it. I enjoyed the last one so I am sure this will be great to.
October 12, 2017 at 12:45 am #15287Hi Cassel , Could i just have a bit more general information on the pictures we will be using , will we be adding the calendar to those pictures or is the calendar part separate to them … thanks for your help..
October 14, 2017 at 8:42 pm #15318Daphne, If you have images that are 2400 pixels wide, you will be able to use them. You could have photos from previous years. It could be photos of your favorite subject (flowers, outings, etc.) or photos of your last vacation. And, if anything, you can always change your mind mid-challenge or even create more than one calendar so you can use more photos too 🙂
Hope it helps.
October 23, 2017 at 9:03 pm #15446Hi Cassel, Because I can’t hear the video , could you please tell me are we supposed to go ahead and colour the background and add our own text where the month is, or are we too wait for further instructions…
October 23, 2017 at 9:25 pm #15447Hi Daphne, here are the basic steps for the video 1 (it is ONLY about adding the new image as the other elements will come in the following videos)
The main layers of the pages you downloaded include
- the dates with the boxes,
- the month (which you will be able to edit)
- a group with a black and white mask with a white layer which is a placeholder for where you will add your photo
- a background layer that you will customize later
Open your photo, which should be close to 2400 pixels in width. If it is slightly smaller you can enlarge it, but if it is larger, then you can resize it down with Image > Resize or keep it as is and focus the subject in the center of the masked area.
From your photo, copy it (Ctrl-C) and activate the layer called PHOTO HERE, and paste as a new layer (Ctrl-L or Ctrl-V). You will likely want to move the photo into the area to make it visible, so activate the Pick tool and using the center handle, move it up. if you need to resize the photo, make sure to use a corner handle, while the Mode of the tool is set to Scale.
Now, you can save it as a .pspimage file so you can come back to it tomorrow and edit further. Save it with a different name so you can reuse the templates for other calendar projects.
You can now repeat the same steps for both pages that you already downloaded with different photos, and then, wait until tomorrow.
I hope this helps.
October 23, 2017 at 9:51 pm #15448Thank you Cassel..
October 24, 2017 at 4:12 pm #15469hello to all players here are my day 1 and day 2 pages,
October 24, 2017 at 6:51 pm #15474Good start Anja!
October 24, 2017 at 8:11 pm #15483Hello , still trying to figure out which colours etc I like but here is my first two
October 24, 2017 at 9:04 pm #15486October 25, 2017 at 8:25 am #15494Anja and Daphne, very nice layouts. It is nice to see these different approaches to the same challenge.
This is what I have for now, but not sure about colors, and depending on the next tutorials I might change them.
October 25, 2017 at 8:39 am #15496That is the beauty of digital: you can always change your mind later! 🙂
October 26, 2017 at 11:44 pm #15511Had a big session and completed all pages up to Day 4! I used the Maphyilla font for the months, changed the Sundays to red and added a few Public Holidays. I haven’t done anything with birthdays or anniversaries, thought I might use an icon or something rather than changing the colour of the date. Looking forward to the next pages.
(I’ll upload in 2 goes just in case).
October 26, 2017 at 11:46 pm #15516Next months.
October 27, 2017 at 10:56 pm #15530Hi Everyone, I have redone the March and April that I had previously done and added the rest up to today… Changed the Font, coloured the dates and added birthdays with a picture as Marlene suggested, so thought that was great idea… Look forward to the next pages. You may have wondered about all the Pomeranians , I normally every year would buy myself the Pomeranian Calendar that came out , so this year it is a showcase of my own little Poms as I have been showing and breeding them for about 20 years and all Champions except for the puppies of course.. so I am very happy with what there is so far…. Love everyone’s work …
October 28, 2017 at 4:37 am #15533Anja… Daphne…Cristina and Marlene … you have all created beautiful pages for this challenge… it has been a joy to view them.
I am still working on mine. Best wishes to you all,
Dawn.
October 28, 2017 at 11:45 pm #15542Hi Cassel, Just a quick question… I have a picture that is 1795 x 1205 is this too small to resize to the 2400 required ??
thanks
Daphne
October 29, 2017 at 8:26 am #15545Daphne, if your picture is of good quality, I would say you can give it a try. Then, look at it at 100% to see if it blurs the details. If not, you will be good to print it. The quality ALWAYS degrades when you enlarge; the question is how much, and how much will be noticeable on the finish project.
October 29, 2017 at 3:34 pm #15554Nice layouts here, ladies. I am still working on mine, looking for pictures, etc. I will post some of them in the next days.
I want to thank you, Cassel, for another great challenge. With those templates, we can make as many calendars as we want, and it is always fun to participate. Thank you!
