Are you always looking for nice pictures to use as backgrounds for your project and can't find what you are looking for among the photos you took? Or maybe you are looking for photos of places or things you could not have visited or gotten close to. Now, there is a place where you can get some fantastic photos, for a great price: free.
Fantastic landscapes
One particular strength of Unsplash is their breathtaking landscape photos. When I first discovered that site, most of the photos seemed to be of landscapes, beautiful sunsets, beaches, mountains, and skylines. People were very rare in those photos at the time. Landscapes are still very numerous in their gallery.
Free and really free
All the photos on the Unsplash site are free to download and free to use whether for personal use or commercial use. Talk about a resource! And those photos are not just the "ordinary" kinds. They are great looking (better than mine, that is for sure!). Although credits are not required, authors surely appreciate it, especially with a link back to their work.
Weekly photos
If you subscribe to their mailing list, you will be sent a curated selection of photos every week. You can download those selections or get inspired to go check out more photos on the site.
Simple photos
One of the beauties of the photos on the Unsplash is the fact that they are simple, so they are easy to use if you are creating a montage, a fantasy scene or others.
Large photos
Sometimes, you might want to use a "stock photo" for your project but you are limited in their size. The photos on Unsplash are large enough for you to even be able to crop to showcase a section only.
Searchable
Initially, this site didn't allow for searches with specific keywords and you had to browse and scroll endlessly, but now, you have the ability to search for whatever term you want to find all the photos that will match that keyword.
Now, it is your turn to discover this great resource for your next graphic project or simply for your next desktop image.
